Show me baby's coming home outfit

Have you purchased the outfit you'll bring your little one home in? It's something I haven't checked off my list yet, partially because warmer weather babies are new to me. I'm thinking something light with some light blankets, if needed, but not sure yet. I'm not planning on getting something too fancy, but I like to get something cute for the pictures when we bring the baby home. Anyone have any inspiration?

  • It is entirely too early for this. And also, I will fall in love with about 6 million outfits between now and then.

that's why I'm so glad I can just do the hand me down thing! it was so hard to choose the first time so I just said fuck it he can wear the same thing his brother did

I don't think it's that early, but whatever works for you. I was wondering what people who had also thought of this, at this point, were planning on.

  • Looking here for ideas.  I have done nothing about this yet.  I have a feeling the shower will provide us with ample options.

I noticed there's a big variety in terms of warmth.  Just wondering what everyone's reasons are?  June here is like warm spring weather, not the hottest part of summer, and I was planning on a onesie or t-shirt and diaper with a cotton blanket.  Is that not sufficient for a newborn?

  • @ElTrain5‌ we have that set too! it's adorable!!!
  • H wants to get a tuxedo onesie.

DF wanted that too! I ordered a cute one off Etsy and will have it any day now! It was $20 for a onesie BUT I didn't mind bc this is one outfit I will keep!

No problem! For us, there's only about 10 weeks left, and have not done one thing. I'm starting to panic a bit. She doesn't even have a name yet, so I like this is one thing I can actually start with!

And yay for late June - I can tell you that the 30th is an excellent birthday! ;)

  • We got two outfits last time. Both are lightweight sweater one pieces with a matching hat. One is pink, the other blue. We will bring both to he hospital again.
I wanted a plain white or cream knit neutral outfit but couldn't find one for DS (that wasn't crazy expensive, that is). So we went with the pink and blue.

  • Um, a white onesie?

Seriously though, I haven't bought any gender specific things yet so if baby is a boy he probably will be in a white onesie. If baby is a girl she'll be in one of DD's old onesies.

  • I'll probably let DH pick something out after the shower. Something nice for pictures, but probably not a 3 piece outfit with matching everything because I don't think I'll want to deal with changing him out of it once we get up 3 flights of stairs with all of our stuff.

I have a while to figure this out though

  • I'm just going to put her in a onesie - nothing super special for our 3 minute car ride home.

One of the few gender neutral things out there that I really liked :) (from Gap)

I got a similar outfit from old navy. Gap and old navy (and H&M but I don't have one close anymore) are the best for gender neutral.

I think I may let DD decide between a few options, she's obsessed with all the baby clothes I've brought home and tries to steal them for her babies!

  • oohhhh kickee pants brand is the softest fabric! great choice @nutmegs8‌ and love the little ruffle on the hat!
  • I'll probably just grab a couple generic onesies in NB and 0/3 size...I don't really care about having a special coming home outfit (it'd be my luck I'd have the perfect thing picked out and she'd throw up on it before we even left the hospital anyways)

This is what I'm thinking but not sure if it's "boyish" enough for DH. If it would have been a girl I would have brought her home in the same dress I wore home.

This is one of two outfits I bought. I LOVE this, it is just so baby boy to me. DH isn't all about it, but we will see. Not sure if little one will be in premee though, so bought a second outfit that came in the smaller size.

  • I made a flannel nightgown for DD before she was born with all sorts of green smocking around the sleeves and neckline. It's just like the ones my Mom made for each of her babies as a first outfit. I used it for DS when he was born too and I will likely do the same with this little one. Honestly though, it's not a very big deal for me and like DS this one will probably just stay skin-to-skin and/or in a diaper only for quite awhile. But I am planning a second home birth so there is no going out or traditional trip home either so it's a bit different. I put the outfit on DS for his first pictures with DD though so we will probably do something like that again this time.

  • I'm sad.  Honestly, I can't remember what my daughter wore home.  I think I remember the outfit I planned on using being too big.  I have a picture of her in her car seat right before we left the hospital, but she's covered in a blanket.  I haven't bought anything specific for her baby brother to come home in yet.
