Newborn photo shoots strike me as odd. Especially the newborn photos where the baby has no diaper on. I tend to feel like an undiapered baby is a ticking time bomb. A cute little dirty bomb, in fact. Sometimes even a diapered baby can turn into a dirty bomb creature.
S/O people who should/should not dress their age. It really irks me that people say that I need to cut my hair because 1) I am a mom of soon to be two children and 2) I am in my 30's?
WTF? Yes, my hair is long. Like super long. Think sitting on it long. You don't like it, don't grow your out that length. My hair is thick, shiny and very healthy. I have been told to cut it because it 'offends' people, or I am being 'selfish' to people will cancer.
Thank you. Up until I went on bed rest my hair was past my ass and I was incredibly proud of it. It's beautiful and long and I love it. I cut it back up to waist length when I went on bed rest for practical reasons (its hard to keep it out of my way) but I have no intention of keeping it this short.
I joke with my family that I've already gotten my mommy-haircut.
I do get a lot of judgement due to my age (33) and my weight (not skinny) and about how I need to just grow up and get a real haircut before baby starts swinging from my braid like a little Tarzan. But screw all of them. I love my hair. DH loves my hair. Not their decision!

Y's where they don't belong in names. Enough. I can sort of get the y instead of i thing but seriously, putting them where they don't belong like Jayne. Eww.
I disagree. To me Camrynn is no more uniquely spelled than Lynn, Brynn, etc.
Those aren't the best names to choose as an example, as they're the traditional spelling of those names.
I understand that, which is why I don't understand the issue with Camrynn "rynn" rhymes with Lynn, Brynn, etc. so to me it's not youneek.
Now "y" in place of an "i" I can see as unnecessary, Symon as opposed to Simon.
Ummmm….but the point is that Lynn and Brynn are traditional names spelt traditionally. Cameron is a traditional name spelt traditionally. Camrynn is a traditional name spelt youneekly. The fact that it rhymes with other names doesn't mean anything.
As long as you don't mind that you and your child will have to spell their names out for the rest of their lives, spell it how you like.
Even if a kid gets the traditional version of a name, they'll still have to spell it forever if there are youneek variations. I have an incredibly common name and still have to spell it for people regularly, same with the name we gave DD.
My brain is all like Kytchen! Or maybe Kitchynn! or even, dare I suggest it, Kytchynne! for maximum extra special uniquery. </sillypants>
I don't usually care about new names and the parents who use those names, unless it looks like it will turn into a Broadway number every time the kid is introduced to someone new. Giving a non-Gaeltacht-inhabiting child a totally Gaelic name, for instance, seems a little mean. Cool, but a little mean. Saoirse, for example, or even more so, Laoghaire. Siobhan seems about the limit in that direction, in my opinion.
I vote Republican as well but lean more Lib. I truly feel that the more government reach there is in our daily lives the worse off we are. I believe that capitalism is what has made our country as amazing as it is and truly am worries what our country will look like 20 years from now. I believe the constitution is just as relevant now as it was when it was drafted and should be adhered to by all branches of the government. regarding social issues, I feel that the government should not have a say in what I do with my life - and that goes for gay marriage, abortion rights, legalization of Mary Jane, etc. I believe that people are adults and can make the decision for how to live their life without Big Brother telling me that it's right or wrong. With where our country is at this point in time, I feel the social issues however must take a backseat to the bigger problems such as international relations and policy, the deficit, and the shitstorm that is brewing overseas right now.
That is why I vote Rep until there is a legit candidate to run on a third party ticket.
If I could gif, I'd do the preach one. There need to be some serious Libertarian candidates, the sooner the better.
I'm 99% sure I'm one and done. Obviously (it goes without saying) that there are positives and negatives to both routes, but it's pretty over the top to claim that deciding to have a single child is somehow "less than." I also don't get how it implies one doesn't want to put in "the effort." I'll be putting my efforts into many other things I consider worthwhile for my sons wellbeing (which play into why I've decided to stick to one). Shrug.
Not how it works. Have fewer kids than someone else does? You're doing it wrong and are a bad mom. Nourish your child differently than someone else does? You're doing it wrong and are a bad mom. Co-sleep/don't co-sleep? Breastfeed till 2/do baby-led weaning/decide to wean at 3 months because you just effing want to? You're doing it wrong and are a bad mom. Getting an epi? Bad mom. Med-free? Probably a judgey bitch.
If you don't do it the way someone else does it, it's because you're doing it wrong. Your child will suffer. I hope you stand corrected.
Gifs on a loop are not my favorite, especially if they're really short, jerky loops. They make my brain hurt. Doesn't matter how cool the gif is, if it's a short loop I need to scroll past that business asap.

Or have the Republican party realize where their real priorities should lie. Kind of strange how more youth distrust the government today than in 2009 and yet the GOP can't get any of them to sign up/get on board with its message. Then again, what do you expect when it does little to reaffirm *personal* responsibility and would rather emphasize legislating morality (I'm not saying the Left/Democrats don't do the same--different values, same sorts of legislation).
The problem with Libertarian Party simply is that it has become a party of 911 truthers, isolationists, and libertines. Great, I can smoke pot now, but I still don't control how I spend my money
We're going to be one and done. I wish it weren't the case. I'd happily have two. But (1) I'm 39 and my DH is 48. We're OLD; (2) my DH only wants one; (3) it took a lot to get successfully pregnant, including a miscarriage and IVF. So I'm living with one. I do have some reservations about what that will be like for our baby but plan to try to address those concerns, like make sure she has a lot of social time, invite friends along on family trips, etc.
If I could gif, I'd do the preach one. There need to be some serious Libertarian candidates, the sooner the better.

Good points. Democrats and Republicans seem depressingly similar. The tea party seemed like a good idea but it's veering way out there.
I just want a small government that values personal freedom and personal responsibility, hopefully at a substantial reduction of national expenditure which would in turn lead to finally paying off the national debt. That in turn should lead to a really nice reduction in all manner of taxes. A girl can dream, anyway.
Unless they ask you to you should give ladies who have had their babies a chance to post in the labor announcement thread instead of doing it for them to collect love tits.
Just saw this. I am genuinely sorry. I honestly did not do it for the love tits or points or any reason other than so they would not fall off the board. @AmandaFaith's twins post had been about a week prior and that's when I mentioned in another thread that we should probably start a thread to keep track of them so @ErBear1010 started the thread. I will not be posting any more besides my own. FTM rookie mistake, but again, I sincerely apologize, especially to @Allibob and @AmandaFaith.
Yea, that's not how it went. And even if it was your idea, which it wasn't. I wouldn't classify AWing someone else's business a FTM mistake. A common sense miscalculation. Maybe.

@gertiebarden DH either did vote for Gary Johnson in 2012 or at least seriously considered it. I felt like Romney had a better shot, but really it seems like it doesn't matter who either of us vote for because MN has gone blue for basically ever, even when Reagan got the entire rest of the country.

I knew Johnson wasn't going to win, but I hoped I could help him get at least the 10% he needed so that there would be a legitimate 3rd party option in the race next time. People told me I was throwing my vote away, but I don't consider voting on my principles a waste at all, even if he wasn't going to win.
Until the Republican party shows as much care for protecting my right to determine what happens in my uterus as protecting the right of rich people to not pay taxes, I just can't. Individual freedom should extend beyond money and guns.
I agree completely.
That reminds me, it bugs me that "pro choice" means how you feel about abortion instead of being a more general term. I'm pro all kinds of choices, even ones that skeeve me out a little.
Y's where they don't belong in names. Enough. I can sort of get the y instead of i thing but seriously, putting them where they don't belong like Jayne. Eww.

I get this. But don't hate my Camryn or my Kaydence. Both y's put in place because I don't like the traditional Cam-er-on, and prefer Cam-run, and I'd like the option to use Kayde as a nn. Ok, you can hate all you want, only cause I know you all be jelly of this!
My UO- I can't with the single kids. I'm not talking a second kid literally couldn't be conceived, I mean you decided before having kids that you were one and done. Siblings teach some very valuable life lessons that you just can't find anywhere else. Having one can be difficult, having more can seem impossible, but all things worth it require the effort. Besides, if 5 kids can survive my mom, anybody can raise more than one LOL.
While I know every situation is different, I tend to agree. As a teacher, I can always tell when a student is an only child.
That being said, I think that this does not apply who cannot afford children. I don't think BIL and SIL(who are both unemployed and live with my ILs) should have had babies 2 and 3 just so #1 could have siblings.
While it is acceptable to brag about your (potty training stage) children doing their business on the potty, it is not necessary to post pictures of their business on Facebook. I get it, parents are proud, I was, too. But... Please tell me I'm not the only one who does not want to see that?

That's kind of ridiculously subjective criteria. I've no doubt that what I feel comfortable with being able to "afford" for my child is different than what others prefer for themselves. And if we end up only being able to provide for one child the way I want to provide for my child, then we're just having one.

Right? This conversation is fucking silly. But really, let's talk more about who "should" and "shouldn't" be reproducing, and really lay down some ground rules on how many times each and in what circumstances. Oh, wait...
Did I hear someone say smaller government and republicans in the same sentence? Like, that republicans actually represent smaller government and that's not just propaganda that gets spewed off? Then why are they so up in my uterus situation? Across the UO board, mine is: I am the best judge and decision-maker of what goes down and does not go down in and around my uterus, thanks.

I know that's subjective, but I'm referring more to the situation with my BIL or an Octomom type thing. My BIL could not provide anything for his children unless my ILs pay for it, including food, shelter and clothing.
I am not going to celebrate Fred Phelps death because at the end of the day, he had family and friends that loved him and will miss him. But I really hope his legacy of hate dies with him.

I shall celebrate on your behalf, I could give a flying fuck that he had family who cared about him. So did the soldier whose funerals he protested with signs that said "thank God for IEDs". I've witnessed his evil first hand at the funerals of my brothers and sisters in arms.
Hope the son of a bitch rots in hell. His legacy will never die with him, the whole Phelps clan is evil.

I disagree with so many things about this statement that it hurts, but it's not my country so I'm going to reserve judgement.
All I'm going to say is that I like living in a country with 3 party politics, no legal access to guns and universal healthcare. Call me a "socialist" or whatever, but I'm happy that my antenatal and post partum care are completely guaranteed without anything other than national insurance (and that's a minimal amount taken from my pay each month) and I can take up to 40 weeks off work paid to be with my baby, with an extra 12 weeks unpaid optional. I don't have to use any vacation or sick time for that. It doesn't matter what side of the tracks I'm from or who I vote for - my country will provide and care for me whatever happens. All I have to do is keep paying my taxes and it's totally worth it. We all get treated fairly and equally.
I honestly think that the republican party will eventually die out. Anyone who is too "liberal" is seen as a threat to them, which is why they end up putting the whack jobs at the helm. They're too exclusive to get a legitimate foothold now.
And yes, there are parts of the constitution that are completely irrelevant now. There, I said it!
But I do love America. That's why I studied American History postgrad and it's why I visit so often. I hope you still let me in your country after my broad, sweeping statements.

To be clear, if I ever do support the Republican party please take me for a brain scan to make sure I haven't had a head injury. My individual freedom thing was about if you think individual freedom is the most important thing.
I'm all pro government and stuff. Like I can't wait until we finally figure out that we need a single payer system. It will happen at some point.
I'm also perfectly fine with taxes going up on people in higher income brackets.
I'm girl crushing on you so hard right now.

We most definitely will, but only because we love your accents and the cute way you misspell things like "color". And you have to bring Cadbury Crunchies with you, or the deal is off.
Misspell. Pfft. We gave you the damn language!
However, I'm happy to donate Crunchies and other Cadbury goods because I feel sorry for all the peanut butter you have to deal with.

Thank you. Up until I went on bed rest my hair was past my ass and I was incredibly proud of it. It's beautiful and long and I love it. I cut it back up to waist length when I went on bed rest for practical reasons (its hard to keep it out of my way) but I have no intention of keeping it this short.
Friends for 17 years. Married 10. TTC since Jan 2009.

Cerclage, P17, and 3 months of bed rest brought us our Rainbow.
Dum spiro, spero.
If you don't do it the way someone else does it, it's because you're doing it wrong. Your child will suffer. I hope you stand corrected.

That reminds me, it bugs me that "pro choice" means how you feel about abortion instead of being a more general term. I'm pro all kinds of choices, even ones that skeeve me out a little.
ETA words are hard.
Y's where they don't belong in names. Enough. I can sort of get the y instead of i thing but seriously, putting them where they don't belong like Jayne. Eww. C I get this.

Right? This conversation is fucking silly. But really, let's talk more about who "should" and "shouldn't" be reproducing, and really lay down some ground rules on how many times each and in what circumstances. Oh, wait...

I know that's subjective, but I'm referring more to the situation with my BIL or an Octomom type thing. My BIL could not provide anything for his children unless my ILs pay for it, including food, shelter and clothing.
Edited to fix autocorrect
I'll celebrate extra for you!

I want his funeral to be attended by gays and soldiers. Not to picket, as he has done to so many, but to remember him. He was just a man that might have needed extra love. I want those he has outcast to show his followers that everyone needs love, and that no one needs to be outcast.
