I just got over a BAD cold (a week or two before Christmas) and at a routine OB visit the Dr. told me to take any Tylenol product b/c he didn't want it to get so bad that I need antibiotics. I was hesitant but after days of being miserable...I gave in. It worked! I took the liquid Tylenol Cold Severe Congestion (it is the warming kind made with honey) during the day and the Tylenol Cold Nighttime (it was the blueish mint flavored kind). I took it for about 3 days and made a world of difference. Hope you feel better soon!!!!
before you take anything, you should check with your ob. i know that once you are out of the 1st trimester, they say you can take sudafed (the original one behind the counter). benadryl and tylenol are also okay (my ob said no to any tylenol combination medication like the cold or the sinus ones). drink lots of fluids and try to rest as much as possible. i am getting over this as well and it hasn't been fun. i generally feel much better, though i still wake up with my head clogged every morning. ick.
I forget what my ob told me to take for a cold. I am so hesitant to take meds, that I tried to suck it up. Hot water with lemon and honey gave me congestion relief. I also drank a ton of juice and liquids to flush the cold out and rested as much as possible. Feel better!
I was sick with a cold a few weeks ago and my NP said I could take sudafed and tylenol. Also, get drink lots of fluid and rest. I took sudafed twice and it didn't do crap so I stopped taking it. I hope you feel better.
Call your nurses line and ask them what they recommend. My doc said no to the tylenol combination meds. I just took regular tylenol since nothing else was going to help with a cold.
Yes, I should have said check with your nurse or Dr. first, sorry. My cold was so bad that the Dr. said it was better to take the Tylenol Cold then go on antibiotics but that was the next step....
Sorry I didn't mention to check before. All Dr's are different, wasn't thinking, had just rolled out of bed.
I was really sick about 2 weeks ago and I didn't want to take medicine. When i saw my OB she said I had to do something to try and prevent a sinus infection. She said to sleep with a humidifier and use a saline nose spray. After a few days it really helped. She said if it got worse then I could take Mucinex and would eventually need an antibiotic if it didn't get better.
I have another cold. I can take tylenol cold, but i only take 1 tab instead of 2. I also do the neti pot (sinu cleanse) that you can buy at cvs or walgreens (15 bucks). You basically are washing out your nose with warm water and salt (provided in box). It feels so funky and is kind of gross, but I can breathe so much better afterwards. Just remember to breathe out of your mouth while doing it.
I had a terrible cold and they told me I could take Tylenol Cold Multi Symptom. It seemed to help mask the symptoms but it wouldn't go away. My OB finally called me in a Z-pac. It kicked my cold and I was oh so grateful! I'm sorry you are sick.
