Anyone NOT having an ultrasound lately?

Reading everyone's posts, I feel like I'm one of the only people who hasn't had an ultrasound lately.

What does your office do?

My doctor told me they will do one at 36 weeks for positioning/size guesstimate. My last ultrasound was my anatomy scan. I feel like it's been forever since we peeked in there and of course the crazy parts of me worry.

Re: Anyone NOT having an ultrasound lately?

  • I had a very very very brief one at 32 weeks to confirm he was breech. It wasn't planned, but my MW wanted to be sure. I imagine I'll probably have another later down the line to double
    check position again.

  • I can't speak for everyone, but if you're high risk, than you get more ultra sounds. Unless you do one of those elective 3-D ones.

  • I won't have another. The 3D was elective and for fun. Last one I had for medical purposes was 20 weeks.

Baby's head down so unless I go overdue no more for me.
  • We are having an elective one paid for out of pocket because we feel the same way. No more from MDs unless there is a suspected issue.
  • I'm pretty lucky and get a quick one at each appointment.

  • Had one at 8 weeks and 20 weeks. I was told by my doctor that I probably will not have anymore.
  • I had an elective 3D ultrasound for fun but my doctor won't do another one unless there's a problem. They only do an early dating ultrasound and a 20 week ultrasound.

  • 12 and 20 weeks. That's it for me, unless something changes.
  • I haven't had one since my anatomy scan at 19wks and won't until 36wks to confirm position. I feel like it's been forever since I've gotten to see my little peanut!

  • I don't have one scheduled and won't have one unless there is a concern, so hoping it stays that way.

  • I had one at 17 weeks for dating purposes and a brief one at 20 weeks and that will be it until we meet the little fella/lady. I'm very thankful to have not needed additional ultrasounds, I have a girlfriend due 4 weeks after me and she's had 5 so far due to various issues and it is terribly stressful on her.

    (((Hugs)))

And OP, like pp said, most of us getting additional ultrasounds are getting them because there is an issue or they are trying to rule out an issue. I've had 2 impromptu ultrasounds since my a/s but neither one of them were for fun. Luckily everything is fine, but I'd be just as happy to feel "normal" in this pregnancy.

  • 20w, 30w for size and found out LO is Frank breech, will have another on Monday (34w) to see if he is still breech. He's measuring big but my fundal height is behind.
  • I had an elective one at 28 weeks, but I don't think that I get another one at the Dr's office unless there is an issue.

  • I'm in the same boat as you. Last ultrasound was my anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I think I get another one at 36 weeks. Currently 31 weeks.
  • I've had 3 so far. I have a 4th scheduled at 33 weeks to see if his growth is ahead of schedule (because of my crazy measurement this week). It seems like there isn't much of a need outside the typical two unless doc sees red flags.

  • If I didn't have a low lying placenta and the midwife was able to tell where he was position on Tuesday I wouldn't have/be scheduled to have any more (after the A/S).

  • I had one at 8w4d and the a/s at 18w2d but I'm very happy I haven't had any issues or needed one since. I will be asking my Dr at my next visit if I'll be getting another one. I would love one but if not, I'll see what she looks like at delivery :)
  • I never had one after the A/S with DD. Now I have had so many I have lost count (every two weeks bc mo/di twins). It's nice to see the babies, but my insurance does not cover ANY ultrasounds until I meet my deductible (which just started over Jan 1) and I get charged double since there are two babies... So it's like $350-$500 each time. I know it's nice to see baby and be reassured but having them all the time I constantly feel like they will find something wrong. So that's the flip side...
  • With my first pregnancy I had 9 ultrasounds since my daughter has a kidney issue. This time I've had just the anatomy scan at 21 weeks and all was fine so I'm not going to get another unless an issue comes up
  • My last ultrasound was the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I won't get another ultrasound at all. I thought that was routine unless you were high risk. It does seem like everyone else has had them.
  • Last one was the at 18 weeks and I won't be getting another one.
  • As far as I know I don't get another one unless something is off... My last one was the anatomy scan at 17wks. I wish I had another just to see my baby. And I don't want to pay for a 3D scan.
  • Had one at 8 weeks and 20 weeks. I was told by my doctor that I probably will not have anymore.

    Same unless issues arise

  • I had my dating at 7w. Then a quick one to hear the HB at 11w, took about 2 minutes. Then a/s at 18w, and more measurements at 23w with MFM. I don't know if there will be any more.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
  • I had a brief one at 28w to check placenta location. Unless anything else comes up, that will be it.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • My last one was a repeat A/S at 24 because his heart wasn't visible behind his spine well enough at 19 weeks and the stinker wouldn't move.

I will probably get another one around 34 weeks if he still hasn't turned, he moved from breech to transverse but my placenta is pretty low so I guess that's a concern for why he hasn't turned yet.
  • I get one anytime I ask unless it's super busy. My doctor does them for free on their machine in their office.. The quality isn't perfect but he prints out a few pics and what not. It's good enough to measure their head and body and see some features. I've had one almost every other time I've gone which is exciting!

  • Unless they order a growth scan my anatomy scan will be my last u/s. I had a growth scan with Beb so I'll likely have one.

Think about it this way, you don't need extra u/s because everything's going well. :)

  • I have a short one at every appointment. My doctor believes this will keep better track of baby's development and make it easier to spot something that might be off.
  • Last one was the A/S at 18wks. Unless something comes up I probably won't have another one either.

  • Like other PP, no more ultrasounds for me.

  • I only get two scheduled ones: the dating scan at 8 weeks and the anatomy scan at 19 weeks. Last time, I ended up with two others: one for growth at 32 weeks and the second at 41 weeks when they were deciding to induce.

Since baby is right on schedule size-wise and I'm hoping not to be induced, I don't expect that I'll see LO until after he is born.
