PP Bath?

My OB is closed so I can't get a hold of them :( So I figured id ask you gals :)

I really want to just take a long hot relaxing bath! However I was never told how long to wait.

I am 3 weeks PP. When did you get to take your first bath?

Sorry in advanced for asking yet another (probably stupid) question :P

My midwife advised baths straight away if wanted but not to put anything in the water. Njoy

Thank god! I took a bath every day while I was pregnant, and not having one for three week has seriously been killing me.

I used my sitz bath while I was healing, but that just isn't the same :(
  • I had a herbal bath right after giving birth, and have had one every other day since. LO loves it:)
  • @Stephanie185‌ does LO take baths with you? I thought about just giving her a bath while I was already in the tub (when it cools down of course). Just seems like she would enjoy it more, and it would be easier for me.
  • I took one immediately and after a week I used Epsom Salt in the tub I really feel like it helped me heal quicker.

  • I thought I was supposed to wait 6 weeks but I might be wrong about that.
  • @golfergirl08‌ I will probably try! I just feel like it would be so much more convenient.

@CD7211‌ , I'm still sore from my tearing, I know it's healing but I just want some pain relief for my muscles and etc because the Motrin can only do so much. Plus I apparently have developed some issues with a tear in my rectum from straining to use the bathroom :(. Something has to give! So I am glad it's helped you heal faster, hope it does the same for me.
  • My MW gave directions to take baths to help heal , physically and mentally. She recommended something nearly identical to: https://www.mommypotamus.com/diy-postpartum-herbal-sitz-bath/

  • Fir some reason my discharge paperwork said to wait until my 6 week check? I was disappointed to see that cus a bath sounds glorious.

  • my doctor said I could take one at any time but don't add anything to it - no bubbles, scented soaps, etc. just a hot bath.

  • I have a bath with my LO every day. He loves hanging out with me, kicking his feet in the water. At the end, after I've washed him, I put him down on the floor (I put down a bath mat, a folded towel, and then his towel) wrap him up, and quickly wash my hair, etc. This way we both get clean, and I get to relax.

I just took my first bath today! 10 weeks pp! I don't think I had to wait this long but I was nervous :)
  • My c/s instructions were to wait 6 weeks but when I asked at 2 weeks if I could take an oatmeal bath for hives, she said yes. The only reason they tell you to wait is for fall hazard. She told me to have DH nearby. I was fine and have taken several since.

  • I was also told no baths for 6 weeks and I was a vaginal delivery. Not sure why I was given different instructions
  • I was told no baths at discharge, but there was no time given. I assumed for 6 weeks. I had a 6 section so I thought that was why. I don't remember any directions about baths with DD. She was a vaginal birth.

That's the only way she's ever had a bath! It's wonderful, very calming and peaceful. She loves it as well. We lay and nurse in there, or just let her float and kick. I put a drop of lavender essential oil on a Kleenex so it diffuses gently, light candles or throw on the nightlight instead of the bright light, and we relax and connect.

@Beachbumm2214‌ Before bath time I get us undressed, and she just kinda hangs out on a change pad until she's peed and pooped, and then we go hop in:)
