@WhoCanItBeNow, he calls to order the pizza, and even when I ask for a smaller one, he orders the large. He buys a separate bottle of blue cheese dressing and keeps it in the fridge. I can't control my DH to the extent you are suggesting. If I only make a proper serving size of dinner and that's all I put on his plate, he will eat a second dinner of raw ramen noodles (which he also buys).
I don't know if he'll agree to see a nutritionist because he honestly knows the right, moderate, healthy choices like everyone is suggesting. And I know someone will say, "So why isn't he doing it," and I don't know the answer to that. He just wants to eat what he wants and then work out really hard and then do something drastic to drop weight quickly.

This all seems very drastic for just 20lb. He'll probably lose a lot more than that in less than the month. And I don't mean that in a good way.
I mean, looking at his eating habits as PP said there are lots of small changes he could do that would help lose 20lb. It won't happen in a month but at least you won't be doing it over again in 2 months once all the weight is back.

Good deal. Not really surprised by the TJ's one. That doesn't magically boost their protein levels though unless they are adding that in too, in which case you might as well buy protein shake mix. You can probably do cheaper than what those milks run.
If you are just looking for something other than water to drink though, you can do much worse than those things.
While you're right that it has little protein, dairy products should not be your sole calcium source as they're not easily digestible. It's pretty easy to meet your protein requirement without cows milk.

I wish we had a TJ's close by. I either buy the Silk, or if I can find Almonds cheap enough, I buy them, and make my own Almond milk.

Op- have you looked at skinnytaste.com? I feel this website has worked wonders for our dinners. The food is healthy, but tastes so good that you can't tell. Plus if he eats more than one serving it wont be as bad as chips.
I'm pretty sure if a person thinks a 30 day juice diet is a good idea they're not going to be paying super close attention to the actual nutritional value of said juice.
I still don't think it's possible to do a 30 day juice diet and train for a 10k at the same time.

It's basically living on micronutrients and incomplete proteins that bind together to make complete proteins.
This type of fast is amazing for resetting the autoimmune system and the gut. As a sole weight loss plan it's not a great long term method and most people do not follow the nutrient needs closely enough. There is a certain way to put fruits and veg together to achieve proper nutritional balance. However, it is a good way to eliminate all animal products from the body and start a veg lifestyle. 30 days is a long time, but it's not necessarily unhealthy IF it's being done properly. If the lack of complete protein is too much (as in when training for a 10K) you can add things such as spirulina, ground flax seeds, pea protien to the juices.
It's effective, but even in Fat Sick & Nearly Dead he was not doing it for weight loss but to cleanse him out of all animal fats, processed foods, medications etc, to cure his auto immune disease.
It can be very beneficial for things such as Lupus, Dermatomyostits, IBD, Cirrosis, obviously Celiac Disease, Chrons. When you suffer relentlessly you do what you can to help fix the issues. For some people in very extreme cases these extreme diet changes work. I can't imagine living off more pills than food. It's shitty way to have to live. If a hardcore juicing fast helps, giver.

Even then, elimination diet =\= cleanse. I know exactly zero health professionals outside the naturopath world who would recommend a cleanse. Because unnecessary.

Juice fasting/cleanses/detoxes can actually irreparably damage the liver of someone dealing with cirrhosis. And no, they don't "obviously" help with celiac either. There's no data to prove that a detox is going to help with any autoimmune disease because detoxes are bullshit.

I drank a tablespoon every now and then to help with indegestion when I was pregnant (that and aloe juice), but I don't know whether it helped or not.
