Diaper rash treatment

LO has the saddest diaper rash between his cheeks. It's red and bumpy, but doesn't seem to bother him. I just discovered it two days ago and have been using Aveeno's diaper rash cream (zinc oxide) and trying to make sure his crack is really dry before I put him back in a diaper. We did about an hour of naked tummy time to air it out yesterday. Many things were peed on.

Anything I should be doing or using to help him?

    I had a client of triplets yesterday that told me about mixing Maalox with Aquaphor and spreading it on the irritated area. I'd hate to suggest something I haven't tried myself yet but she swears by it. I figure a mom of triplets should know. She got the recommendation from her Pedi.

    If the rash is in dots it might be a yeast infection. We are dealing with that right now. Pedi recommended using lotramin, and continuing usage at least 2 days after the rash disappears.

    So far the lotramin is helping, but it hasn't gone away. I thought we got ahead of this rash that started almost two weeks ago when DS had a stomach virus. Ugh. That damn sickness is just the gift that keeps on giving. Poor baby bum.

    If you wanna send me a picture I can let you know if it looks like M's yeast rash. If so regular cream won't kill it.

    I took M to the doctors. They told me the "island" rash is yeast and he prescribed Nystatin.

    We're gonna take G to the doc tomorrow. Naked time and lotramin are no longer working on his bum. Poor kid.

    I swear by CJ's BUTTer for the occasional redness.  It won't touch a yeast rash, but we don't use anything unless he is getting a little red, and CJ's clears it up within a change or two.

    Thanks everyone! We see the pedi Friday anyway, so I will have him give us something if it's not clearing by then. Poor baby butt!

    My pedi said to mix petroleum jelly and diaper cream. I use that mixture all the time now, it really works.

    This! My pedi recommended this and it cleared it right up !

    We use butt paste. Also we use homemade wipes at home (still store bought ones when out and about) and it's made a huge difference is LOs bottom
