Some sharp cramps and spotting...feeling scared

I had some sharp cramping on one side yesterday for a few hours. I chalked it up to some round ligament pain.

This morning I've had some dark brown light spotting. I generally never have spotting (only once before when I think I had a chemical pregnancy loss). Seeing the doctor at 4pm.

Anyone else had any similar in 2nd tri?

I dont have an experience to share, but I hope your appointment goes well. As PP said, brown is old, so that is good! As to the cramping, is there any way that you could have pulled a muscle? I have been coughing lately and I strained my abdominal muscles and it had me a little freaked out, but it is totally okay.

I don't have any advice but I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. If you can, put your feet up and drink water. Just try as hard as you can to relax. ((hugs)) Fingers crossed that it's nothing!

I never had bleeding during pregnancy (unless I miscarried) until this past pregnancy. Turns out it was a subchorionic hematoma. I still have it actually (it went down in size a bit) but New Year's Day I lost a ton of blood and thought for sure I was losing it. It was brown and red blood too. So it could be that. Have you had an ultrasound at all yet? If not I bet that could be the cause.

I had some mild cramping and brown spotting about 2 weeks ago. When I called, the nurse didn't even think it was necessary for me to come in unless my symptoms worsened. I was pretty concerned though, so I went home early from work and got out my doppler. Heard baby right away, and the spotting subsided over the next day or so.

I have been having some sharp cramping off and on over the past couple weeks, but no spotting. As PP have said brown is old, so I would try to keep that in mind till the ultrasound. I hope everything is ok. T & P your way.

I've not had the bleeding in the second trimester, but I've had severe cramping. The doctor said it was just severe RLP and not to worry. He even said that drinking a Propel or Gatorade can help with it! Keep us posted with how it goes today!

Update:

My cervix was looked irritated so she did a swab for a possible yeast infection. There was enough yeast in the culture to have me take a pill. (Never had an infection before and there are no other typical symptoms.)

Also, she did a quick ultrasound and noticed a pocket of fluid (not amniotic) right above my cervix. The placenta was still attached along the side but she's worried it could have leaked creating the pocket of fluid/blood. She wants me to go to the hospital tomorrow or Wednesday for a more detailed ultrasound because the office machines are not as good.

The good thing was that the baby had a strong heartbeat and was flip flopping all over the place.That made me feel good. I would feel even better if I could feel her with any consistency, especially while waiting for the next few days.

The more detailed ultrasound went well and all bleeding has stopped!

I can really see why some mom's end up buy a doppler to listen to the heartbeat. Waiting in between is super stressful (also not great for baby).

I had bright red bleeding during this pregnancy, enough to fill the toilet bowl and cover several whips of toilet paper. It went on for 24 hrs. or more. Even then, it was nothing. Bleeding is so often a part of pregnancy. Ask some of your friends, and at least a few of them will say they had it once or twice. Hugs!

My doctor was actually pretty concerned and said that bleeding in the second trimester was not common. (I do know people who bleed in the first trimester and my doctor said then not to worry unless it was heavier than a normal period). She explained that in the 2nd tri it's usually either completely unrelated to pregnancy (infection, cyst, vaginal irritation, ext.) or a problem with placenta (generally an abruption or previa). I'm sure there are other reasons as well but she tried to tell me common reasons bleeding might happen.

I hope that you aren't having bleeding too often. Even if your doctor says it's okay...I know that at the very least it may induce some stress.
