but I swear when LO cries I hear her say mama/mommy. I've heard it like 3x. I don't know if she is saying it purposely (doubt it) but I deft heard it. Anyone else?
You're definitely not hearing things, but she's not saying mama with any sort of intent or meaning. She's just trying new sounds and ways to work her mouth out. Sure is fucking cute though.
It sounds like he is saying the "MmMmm" sound when he needs comfort, for sure. He will also reach for me. Maybe it is purposeful? Word association has to develop somehow...
If dd is doing her pouty lip cry it sounds like "hiiimmmmm" and I always ask her who him is.
Yesterday dd said dadadadadada all day long. Dh was so excited that she said Dada. All day long he walked around saying Dada back at her. He was too excited for me to tell him it doesn't mean what he thinks.

aw haha what a good wife! Yea my friend is a speech pathologist and told me word association doesn't happen til 12mo. It's nice to pretend until then
Mine has been saying momma for weeks now...unintentionally of course. I'm totally jacked because the surgeon said with jax's cleft palate he'll have problems with most words. Fortunately momma isn't going to be one of them! :x

It's not with intent but as fast af i know every language uses a ma sound for mother since its one of the first sounds babies say. Mine also says ma. DD1 used to say 'mammie' when she was a bit older and my bro thought that was super funny.
We are just working on general sounds for now and blowing lots of raspberries. She likes to take in the world so we go in spurts of being quite to trying to talk.
When Brody cries or is babbling it either sounds like momma, Emma (my oldest) or his latest is baba. No word association with anyone yet, but it's cute.
Carmen says mmmm, mamamamama or just mama, hi and the other day when she was having a total meltdown she looked at me and said moomoo. I guess I need to start working out.
No word association because she's too young but it still makes me smile.
