Mine is one of DS's teachers emailed me last Sunday because she wanted to meet. I told her I could scoot out of work and meet her by 330 on Tuesday. Tuesday rolls around and she asks DH during pickup at 11am if I can make it at 3pm instead and to have me call the school to let them know. Uh.. I work. If I have to cram all my work in so I can leave 45 minutes early instead of 15 minutes early then I have to scramble around and do my work, not hide in my office and make phone calls!

Then I got to the school and they had me wait into 315 because they were in another meeting. It wasn't all a huge deal, but it did earn some side eye.

I am side-eyeing myself a little right now. DH and DS are gone for the day and I did nothing after work, nothing. DH usually makes dinner- when he's gone I'll make something that I like but he doesn't. Tonight I had a spoon full of peanut butter and a huge glass of milk for dinner. We'll just keep that our little secret. He doesn't need to know that I was just that lazy today.

I'm side eyeing my neighbor/friend who posted on FB Friday night that she was entering "single mom-dom" for the weekend while her H went to some Nascar race. So far, last night she had her cousin help her, and then she texted me that her MIL was taking her 3yo and dog for the rest of the weekend so today she's got her 5mo twins, her mom, sister, and cousin over. Don't complain if it's not warranted! O.o.

I'm side eying my husband for being an idiot this afternoon. We were driving home after canceling our plans for the weekend after half a day already out there and he wanted pizza for dinner. So I said let me order it now and by the time we get there it will be ready- I already had checked traffic and figured it all out. He said no we will do it when we get closer bc we don't know what traffic will be like- I told him and said we would be there. T 5:49 exactly. He said no. Fine- so we get to our exit and was like go ahead and order for delivery and I was like it is literally right there and it is two minutes from time I said. We could have had it ordered and boom no tip. So he got pissy and had me order and made us wait outside while he was pussy in the pizza place and I got to deal w dd wanting out if car seat for twenty minutes. I'm also side eying him for making jokes about my being cold bc thyroid has been screwed up. I can't effing help it. Oh! And a big effing side eye to waiting an hour to see Elmo this morning.

I'm side-eyeing the 1st birthday party/sex reveal party I attended today. That's right, 2 kids in 15 mos. Normally, I don't mind those but today it took everything in me to survive.

I'm also seriously side-eyeing that one of the 1 year olds gifts was a Kindle Fire HD because " you need baby entertainment in public and its the only way to survive a meal out. "

@Clagore, both of those things would have pissed me off. Seriously, a kid doesn't need an expensive adult electronic at 1.

So, for my side-eye this weekend, all those effing stupid parents who buy expensive electronic toys for their kids. I know a 2yo who had her own Kindle Fire and I was talking to grandma about her and she mentioned that the 2yo would get so glued to the Kindle she wouldn't answer the adults. So I said if DD ever trys that I take her tablet away, grandma's response...we're afraid of her throwing a fit and attacking baby sister and the adults. Seriously!?! She's two, you are bigger than her. I used to do daycare for this family and it pissed me off every time baby showed up with scratches on her face from the 2yo, the mom even occasionally had scratchs on her face from the 2yo. So that is my other side-eye, parents who can't control their child and have more!

Sorry, went on a bit of a rant there.

I'm fine with age appropriate electronics. For instance- I think my son might enjoy the leapfrog tablet or one of those "digital" cameras for toddlers.

But there is no way I would have bought him a f-ing kindle at the age of 1!!!

Oh the toddlers getting iPads and kindles kills me! Last December a mom on FB was asking for favorite toddler aps because she was buying her three year old twins iPads for Christmas! Holy smokes! Yeah, major side eye there with you mamas.

My other side eye is a different mom on FB asking for referrals for where to host her kids second birthday that can accommodate 60+ people. I get having a big party for the first birthday and the sweet sixteen and other major milestones. But a second birthday isn't that special that you need to invite half your wedding guest list. That's too much for a two year old.

The truth is that is was SO awkward when they opened it. Like crickets. My DD has a Kindle but her use is pretty limited and she honestly goes a month or two between use sometimes.

@AprilDrew04‌ I could go on similar rants about daycare families. I do in-home child care and the kids are always so well behaved for me and then hellions for their parents. Why? Because they know what's expected of them and what will and won't be allowed. It's not that difficult to grasp most of the time.

So... I might get a serious side eye, but I got a Nabi jr for dd for Christmas 2.25 years old 2.5 this month) and I did that because all of her cousins (which are at least ten year old and there are five if them) have some sort of tablet and I was tired of her almost breaking them or getting yelled at for touching them or being interested in them. I got it bc it was serious in parent control and only apps I chose would be in her account and any that were to old for her I could save for later. She gets it once a day if she has eaten dinner and not lost her mind and cleaned up her toys and only after dinner while EH and I watch a show. Her fav apps are the word ones and she sits there and repeats them, and a damn Halloween math app she downloaded bc I was dumb enough to forget to put parent password back up after buying an app. Seriously, she can't math but she loves trying to figure those numbers out and anything spooky she loves (my weirdo baby). Anyway, if she ignores us while using it- it gets taken away. She will sometimes ask for it during day or on road trip- but I am adamant not in car (sing a freaking song or read a book or tell me what you see out the window!) and never until after dinner. If she doesn't eat dinner she doesn't get it either (usually she will get hungry a little later and ask for dinner, sometimes not- toddlers are weird eaters- but the rule is the rule. She didn't get it last night bc didn't eat dinner and she didn't throw a fit bc I reminded her she didn't eat dinner- I got serious stink eye, but she went and played with her neigh neighs so even better). So I guess I'm saying I started early with learning only apps and very strict rules to teach her early time and place and rules are rules and so she could feel like she "was a baby and didn't get to play" (stupid cousins). Maybe I'm crazy, but it works for us and it is more age appropriate than iPad or kindles. Or maybe I'm a hypocrite for side eying those? Maybe I get a side eye for over analyzing everything this morning.
Also, I'm still side eying my EH for not stopping to let me get milk for dd last night- like I have the problem for wanting to take care of her. Poop head.

Oh, I lied. One more side eye- EH dumped out a huge tote of DD's clothes that I had folded up and paired tops and bottoms together because he wanted to find an outfit for her and was pissed she only had pants. Then, instead of looking in her sock drawer for effing socks, went in the bag of clothes too small to get socks she grew out of and then got pissed at her she didn't want to wear them. All this to take her with him to do groceries to be nice after being a jack ass. Now instead of relating after being sick all night and my knee hurts bc I seriously effed it up, I have to got clean all that crap up. Poop head.

I'll get side eye for this, too, but my girls play with our iPad all the time. I think we wouldn't survive long Minnesota winters if it wasn't an option. If they had a choice, they would choose playing outside over the iPad any day. We do also have a Leap Pad and a Leapster O.o.

We have an android tablet and we have "coloring" apps on it for my son but, we didn't buy him his own...

@Jen071407‌ lol! I think that being parents in today's age - with all the technology we have, that electronic usage is a given.

I also don't think it's a bad thing as long as it's balanced.

It's good our children are learning it young. There are a few schools here that are moving to paperless and are assigning iPads for the semester instead of textbooks. It's how tests are taken, homework is completed, and reading assignments are done.

We are a very "plugged- in" house because my husband is a technology nerd. I tell him if our house had any more wires or computers - the FBI is going to get suspicious lol!

@kc1212 I totally agree! I definitely think our kids are going to be educated using iPads. I know a lot of the schools in the Twin Cities already use them. Seems crazy! Remember overhead projectors? :-j
