I confess that I just stole the latex gloves in the doctor's bathroom and just used those when I was pregnant so I didn't get pee on my hands. @Aprilbaby49 I also confess that the term "urinary meatus" is one of the grossest things ever.

I was literally just typing about how I didnt feel the term 'meatus' was appropriate.

  • Glad you didn't flag me @MrsHartman7‌ lol. Hope I didn't add another word to your list.

@Aprilbaby49 I thought the cup wasn't supposed to touch your body?

@Jdubb13‌ - they check your urine to run a urinalysis and to check for your protein levels. It isnt a culture so it doesn't have to be sterile. Yes, you should limit how much of your skin touches the cup/pee but there is no way that you can completely avoid that. For instance for the ladies who didn't know about your tip, their urine had to pass thru their inner labia before it went into the cup so technically skin particles are still in the urine/cup.

At the hospital when we perform a urinalysis for the babies and we don't need to catheterize them we put a bag around their labia or penis/testicles) to catch their pee so it doesn't soak into the diaper. Typically these results are not contaminated when the pee touches their skin. Also none of my tests at the OB were flagged. I'm just saying this based on my experience. I don't want to give advice if it's wrong though so if your method works, keep at it girl :)

  • @MrsHartman7 My husband and his friends used to refer to them as "Carne asada lips". That's so nasty.

What kind of sickos come up with this stuff??

@ceamac0127 I feel as though you could work it into polite dinner conversation tonight and see if anyone reacts.

  • @BellaBean76‌ - what happened to you at the airport is absurd. For you other ladies who need additional tips in peeing in a cup. There is a way to do it in a non-messy manner without having to spread your labia open. Just put the cup directly to your labia so the entire rim touches. Just make sure your urinary meatus (the hole where your pee comes out) is within the perimeter of the cup. When you pee it will go directly into the cup with no spray. If your think the amount that your peeing will exceed the cup then just pull it out. Pee shouldn't get on your hands this way. I did it the whole time during my pregnancy with N and it worked everytime. Pregnant ladies try this and let me know if it worked for you. Apologies to @tondraluv‌ and @MrsHartman7‌ for the excessive use of the word labia.

    Oh. My. God.

  • So…I'm the only person who never had an issue peeing in a cup?

    Quite possibly.

  • @mrshartman7 and @tondraluv just b/c you broke it up it up on two posts...I did realize that "damp underwear" was mentioned in this thread (yuck)!

I really hope what happened to me was a gag and that I am entertaining TSA agents everywhere, however I was flying out of west palm beach fla...I think they are only used to old folks in wheel chairs...

  • My confession... I would rather spray pee all over my hands than talk about, much less try, these somewhat disturbing techniques.

...but would you wash them after?

Hahaha in that particular case, yes.

I'm back home visiting family this week, and I want to burn my sister's house down. EVERYTHING is covered in cat hair.

Also LO is cutting his eye teeth and started walking. Everything is terrible!

Oh my god. My house is covered in cat hair. I don't know what the hell is going on with these cats. we vaccuum all the time and you could still knit a sweater with what you pull off my couch. If these cats don't knock it off someone is getting shaved.

Honestly I think second pregnancies are just less exciting. Yes, I love my daughter. But my reaction was not over the moon like it was for the first. I knew what I was in for this time! :)

Why? Is it because you want what you now know? You want your sons to have a brother? Or have you never wanted a girl? Just wondering...

I'm very happy to be pregnant again, but it feels very different than last time -- to be honest, I prefer it this way.  I feel less freaked out, less anxious, less OCD but "having all the stuff" and "doing everything right" and like other people are also less worked up about it -- while still being happy for us / excited.

I will be happy whether it is a boy or a girl, but I know DH would much prefer another boy, and we have all the clothes, which makes everything easier.  I actually feel pretty nervous about my mothering abilities to a girl.  I've always been one of the guys.  But we'll be happy and figure it out no matter what.
