My husband and I registered at Target for our wedding. We registered for a couple of expensive electronics & things, not because we wanted anyone to buy them for us but because we got 10 or 15% off whatever we didn't get off our registry.
Me: 33 - PCOS & Hypothyroidism
DH: 35 - SA is good
Married since 2010 (together since 2006)
TTC since June 2009 (we knew we would have issues and wanted family right away after we got married).
No pregnancies yet.
May 2013 - started first round of Chlomid & ovidrel cycle.
Hahahaha! That's awful. I was once invited to a girls baby shower. We were friends in high school but hadn't spoken in years. She said in the invite to not bother with a gift for the baby but to get her a gift instead. I thought that was kind of rude. I never went to the shower.

The mommy-to-be must not have many friends and I can see why! Those poems made me angry.
Agree. I had a similar situation, though not at all as hello-kitty stupid, with someone's wedding. Didn't know the girl well (work group) and didn't go, but got a note saying they wanted to let me know they didn't find a gift. Well good - I hope not!

My first thought was, "there's absolutely no way this is real." But then I thought "did the poster really have that much time on her hands that she'd come up with two fake poems?"
I'm still on the fence about whether a real, actual, honest-to-goodness human being would do such a thing. And that no one would stop her. Does she have friends? Does she have a mother, sister, or half-cousin-once-removed?

@yaz14 that is incredibly rude! Buy her a gift instead???! WTF! I HATE when people try to dictate what to buy them. Its so freakin rude. You should never ask for specific presents on invites unless it is to bring no presents at all. Create a registry, some will buy from it, some will not.
@Mlewis2319 I'm with you...people are dicks...but what's so wrong about registering for a grill?
ETA: woah, there's a drop down menu when tagging people now, so you don't have to remember numbers in screen names. Nice work, TB.
I guess I was shocked with the grill on this registry b/c it was her second wedding, of which the first marriage didn't last 7 months. She was going through the whole big wedding again, another bridal shower, another big wedding, another big honeymoon. it was a hot mess. Maybe since I was pregnant with DD I was a little hormonal (maybe, maybe not LOL). At the bridal shower, the mother of bride put out luggage and she had some poem on the tables asking guests for their change and to put it in the luggage to help pay for their honeymoon.
OH and then the icing on the cake, at the wedding, they did the apron dance (did it at the first wedding), and NOBODY was participating in the dance (guess I wasn't the only one who thought this was crazy) so the bride took the mic from the DJ and said to all of the guests "Come on everyone, this money is to help us pay for our honeymoon!"
Um, excuse me? LOL DH and I left shortly after that announcement LOL
As I mentioned above, I read the story to DH and he was cracking up.
He send me an e-mail today because it made it's way on reddit.com and someone came up with a pretty awesome reply poem. I would post it, but I already deleted it.
