I have a dear friend who does the Paleo diet. It works really well for her. She has lost a bunch of weight, says she feels better, is passionate about nutrition and I get the feeling that she wants me to go Paleo too.
I guess my unpopular opinion is that I will never go Paleo.
I will make recipes that look delicious that happen to be paleo, gluten free, vegetarian etc but I'm very much a person who will not ever again restrict myself to one diet like this. I just like the all the food.

I despise when someone tries something new and then tries to recruit everyone else into their "new, better way of living" ... How about fuck off?!
Hehe...I like my in-laws too @jessa8907 My MIL can be her fair share of crazy, but she hardly ever does anything that could make her a monster-in-law.
And I agree @JP27...restrictive diets just send me over the edge into bad territory...I can't do stuff like that. Plus they always back fire and then I gain the weight, plus some, back.

I may be shunned after this one but I really don't know why people post stuff about their religion, lent and religious dietary restrictions on here. If you are that into your religion then you should know by now what you can and can not do or eat. I know this board is more than just about babies..it's about building friendship with other mothers but I don't talk about religion with my very closest friends and family so why would I want to see a stranger bring up theirs.
While I do enjoy reading a few blogs, I can't stand it when people share articles from blogs that are basic common sense about children, families, etc, it's like they read it on a blog and all of the sudden it's a revelation.
Add me to the in-law loving list too @jessa8907. Well my MIL at least.
My UO is that I hate how gender stereotypes seem to start ASAP. For instance, it seems 90% of all baby girl items are some shade of pink. It's stupid and I think it really stifles a child's ability to truly express their own likes and dislikes.

that's how I feel too. I was a vegetarian for 5 years and at the end of the 5 years I was ready to slaughter a chicken with my bare hands. I actually lost weight and got much healthier when I started eating meat again. I won't pretend I was the best vegetarian but it just wasn't for me. I like to eat healthy (despite my occasional McD's hashbrownMcMuffin) and I'll try things for a meal but I tend to go gung ho about something for 2 weeks then revert even worse than I was before after burning out.

Can I add vegan to this?
To each his/her own, but for me I don't feel like Vegan is very healthy.
I guess another UO, I don't think Soy should be considered a health food.

Have I missed some posts?
I felt like there were a bunch last week or so revolving around lent and stuff. I pretty laid back so generally I don't care but I thought if I had to contribute something to this thread, this would be it.

Yea I don't think it is either. I mean they suggest you don't have soy while trying to get pregnant and while pregnant because of the extra estrogen in soy. But honestly I feel "what's healthy" changes every year

I could be going pregnancy brain crazy too and just read them on another mommy blog and got it mixed up. If that's the case, sorry ladies.
I enjoy when people have the special snowflake "it's a girl/boy" posts. I don't actually care whether it's a boy or girl, but you ladies come up with the best GIFs for those posts. I always get a good laugh out of them.
My UO is that if you choose to go skiing on top of a mountain where there is no actual ski slope and piles and piles of undisturbed snow just so you can get a "thrill," you deserve to get caught in that avalanche.

Not sure I've ever heard anyone actually admit this so I now have mad love for you @JP27 !
I can't stand Ryan Seacrest (I'm not sure how unpopular this opinion is). He creeps me out and I have NO IDEA why he is popular and has his own radio show and involved in all other sorts of things. I also don't know why celebrities hang out with him...but that could be because I dislike him so much that I don't know why anyone would spend time with him.

Nope, I definitely remember some posts from someone (I can't remember who) who was craving meat on a Friday but being Lent, that wasn't okay.. and then a discussion ensued on how pregnant bishes are excused from the dietary restrictions. I'm still trying to coax my eyeballs down from the back of my head.

Same here! It's so amazing to see the thread get murdered with GIF & memes! I laugh so freakin' hard every time.

Salsera - I'm so impressed that you remembered this from earlier in the week to post about it here.
I went on a ski vacation in January, when LO was still nestled deep in my pelvis. We put our 2yo on skis for the first time. I wanted to ski with him but instead strapped on my snow boots and watched him and DH having a blast from the bottom of the hill. We worked too hard and long to make this baby to risk it for a few hours of fun.
My UO is I HATE that "Say Something" song. It was nice the first few times I heard it, and now I want to cut my ears off and shove them in my ear holes every time it comes on the radio. I scream "NO!" at the radio and change the station.

Awesome. I could kiss you. You expressed my exact feelings
Maybe this is unpopular. I don't think they should legalize marijuana yet. Not until they can do roadside sobriety tests and have a better understanding of what the legal limit should be and how driving high affects you. We're already pretty miserable at enforcing drunk driving laws, and the effects of alcohol are clear, the limits are well known, and BAC is easily tested roadside. I fail to see how it is safe to legalize another mind-altering drug when we don't have all those things in place yet.
I think I have another, even though it's still not the one I had yesterday.
I really enjoy discussing politics and religion. As long as all parties involved aren't acting like completely close-minded asshats I always learn something from such discussions, even if I don't agree with the other person.
I generally agree. I do live in DC so these conversations come up pretty frequently. I think overall though it's hard to find a group of diverse peers where you can have a healthy discussion without causing animosity.
I think it's your job as a parent to stop doing illegal things, even if you don't think they should be illegal.
Before I had Finn, I definitely did things that weren't legal, but I think it's my job to teach him to follow rules even if they don't always make sense. It's just how society works. However, if he comes up to me as a teenager and asks about my past, I'll be completely honest with him.
I'll piggyback the diet UO with a fitness UO - I don't like the whole concept of workout trends, especially those that have you bust your ass with high intensity workouts for a specific amount of time to get results. I'm thinking of things like Insanity, P90 X, 30 Day Shred, etc. I've done the 30 Day Shred and her other one I think its called Ripped in 30....and then I didn't want to exercise anymore. Exercise should be part of a healthy life style and I think the key to that is moderation and not get yourself burned out. That is exactly what happened to me. I dieted and exercised hard for about a year before my wedding and was in fantastic shape and I got so burnt out from it. I got to the point where I would feel guilty if I couldn't do at least an hour of high intensity working out daily so I finally would think why bother if its only a half hour. That's not the way it should be.
Plus I don't care if you're into running or Crossfit or whatever, but for the love of god, stop posting daily on Facebook. No one cares!
My original UO: I don't like it when DH feels up my baby bump. I know most of you think its cute and sweet, but I'm tired of it and I was with my first pregnancy too. It just feels intrusive when he comes over and lifts up my shirt when I'm doing something. I really hate when he cradles my bump in public. And please don't sit here with your hands or ear on my stomach waiting to feel movement. Its annoying, but I try to tolerate it.

AMEN! I have a former friend who I let just fade away because EVERY.DAMN.POST on Facebook and Instagram was either about running, working out, marathons, running, running, and more running. Seriously, every other picture was a pic of her map that she ran or worse, her stopwatch. At least the map has a colorful squiggly line to look at... I cannot even begin to explain how obnoxious that was. If you mix it in here and there with other things going on in your life... fine. But, when it is every damn post, you just look obsessive and ridiculous.

*rimshot* See what I did there? 'Eh? 'Eh? :P
