  • Hehe...I like my in-laws too @jessa8907 :) My MIL can be her fair share of crazy, but she hardly ever does anything that could make her a monster-in-law.

And I agree @JP27...restrictive diets just send me over the edge into bad territory...I can't do stuff like that. Plus they always back fire and then I gain the weight, plus some, back.

I have a dear friend who does the Paleo diet. It works really well for her. She has lost a bunch of weight, says she feels better, is passionate about nutrition and I get the feeling that she wants me to go Paleo too.

I guess my unpopular opinion is that I will never go Paleo.

I will make recipes that look delicious that happen to be paleo, gluten free, vegetarian etc but I'm very much a person who will not ever again restrict myself to one diet like this. I just like the all the food.

Can I add vegan to this?

  • I may be shunned after this one but I really don't know why people post stuff about their religion, lent and religious dietary restrictions on here. If you are that into your religion then you should know by now what you can and can not do or eat. I know this board is more than just about babies..it's about building friendship with other mothers but I don't talk about religion with my very closest friends and family so why would I want to see a stranger bring up theirs.

that's how I feel too. I was a vegetarian for 5 years and at the end of the 5 years I was ready to slaughter a chicken with my bare hands. I actually lost weight and got much healthier when I started eating meat again. I won't pretend I was the best vegetarian but it just wasn't for me. I like to eat healthy (despite my occasional McD's hashbrownMcMuffin) and I'll try things for a meal but I tend to go gung ho about something for 2 weeks then revert even worse than I was before after burning out.

I felt like there were a bunch last week or so revolving around lent and stuff. I pretty laid back so generally I don't care but I thought if I had to contribute something to this thread, this would be it.

To each his/her own, but for me I don't feel like Vegan is very healthy.

I guess another UO, I don't think Soy should be considered a health food.
Yea I don't think it is either. I mean they suggest you don't have soy while trying to get pregnant and while pregnant because of the extra estrogen in soy. But honestly I feel "what's healthy" changes every year

I could be going pregnancy brain crazy too and just read them on another mommy blog and got it mixed up. If that's the case, sorry ladies.

Nope, I definitely remember some posts from someone (I can't remember who) who was craving meat on a Friday but being Lent, that wasn't okay.. and then a discussion ensued on how pregnant bishes are excused from the dietary restrictions.  I'm still trying to coax my eyeballs down from the back of my head.

  • I enjoy when people have the special snowflake "it's a girl/boy" posts. I don't actually care whether it's a boy or girl, but you ladies come up with the best GIFs for those posts. I always get a good laugh out of them.
Same here! It's so amazing to see the thread get murdered with GIF & memes! I laugh so freakin' hard every time.

  • I was way healthier when I was a vegan. I ate mostly vegetables, rice/other whole grains, and beans. It was awesome.

I think I have another, even though it's still not the one I had yesterday.

I really enjoy discussing politics and religion. As long as all parties involved aren't acting like completely close-minded asshats I always learn something from such discussions, even if I don't agree with the other person.
I generally agree. I do live in DC so these conversations come up pretty frequently. I think overall though it's hard to find a group of diverse peers where you can have a healthy discussion without causing animosity.

  • I'll piggyback the diet UO with a fitness UO - I don't like the whole concept of workout trends, especially those that have you bust your ass with high intensity workouts for a specific amount of time to get results. I'm thinking of things like Insanity, P90 X, 30 Day Shred, etc. I've done the 30 Day Shred and her other one I think its called Ripped in 30....and then I didn't want to exercise anymore. Exercise should be part of a healthy life style and I think the key to that is moderation and not get yourself burned out. That is exactly what happened to me. I dieted and exercised hard for about a year before my wedding and was in fantastic shape and I got so burnt out from it. I got to the point where I would feel guilty if I couldn't do at least an hour of high intensity working out daily so I finally would think why bother if its only a half hour. That's not the way it should be.

Plus I don't care if you're into running or Crossfit or whatever, but for the love of god, stop posting daily on Facebook. No one cares!

My original UO: I don't like it when DH feels up my baby bump. I know most of you think its cute and sweet, but I'm tired of it and I was with my first pregnancy too. It just feels intrusive when he comes over and lifts up my shirt when I'm doing something. I really hate when he cradles my bump in public. And please don't sit here with your hands or ear on my stomach waiting to feel movement. Its annoying, but I try to tolerate it.
