UO

Well its almost Thursday everywhere over there....

My UO:

I think women who worry about packing make up and hair product/equipment other than a hairbrush and hair tie in their hospital bag sound vain. And anyone who takes time to do their made up and/or when they go into labor are crazy! I understand the idea of a bit of lippy and mascara to help perk yourself up, but anything beyond that I just don't get. I also think anyone who wont ever leave the house with out makeup on and perfect hair are just ridiculous.

Ok, who's next?

I feel that circumcisions are not necessary. A babies wee wee should be left as is.

Uh oh, I thought mine was controversial...
    Oh dear...

  • Darn, now I want pop corn.
  • Lol heard about that! Classic, but a cat that weighs 22lb! omg!

As for this, I think its more of a normalcy thing. I was REALLY against it when I first heard some of the ladies talking about it. But then I realized I don't generally wear a lot of make up and do a lot to my hair, so, bringing a full on kit would be weird for me. After something so crazy as giving birth, I think having some normalcy is a good thing. If that means doing your hair and make up, then you should.
That being said, I've never looked at a photo of a friend after giving birth, holding their new baby and thought "damn, that girl needs some mascara STAT!" :-)

That's why I think it's more about the mother to feel better, rather her than try to impress anyone. I personally don't give a shit how someone thinks I look but if I can help not looking like dick just to make myself feel better, then so be it.

I think this may have been said before, but I think birth plans are stupid. Plan on this: being disappointed, bitter, or having a traumatic birth experience because things didn't go as you planned in your 10 page detailed birth plan(s) that have been typed out and photocopied for all staff/attendees.

Idk. I think mine is pretty epic. I'm thinking of laminating it and everything.
My doula wants me to write a birth plan out. I kind of just want to make a list of things I don't want to happen, as opposed to writing out a full plan. The little details don't really matter because I'm the type to voice my opinion and wants when I need to but as far as the big ones like delayed chord clamping and things like that, I'll write down for them. Mainly because I feel like if I don't I'll forget.

The only thing I'm demanding (unless its life or death) is not to be catheterized before having an epidural, if I have an epidural. I've been through that too many times and, for me, it was extremely traumatic. I still have nightmares.

  • I think donated breast milk is wonderful and if I can't BF I would consider using it. I lived around a few dairies and the chemicals and sub par foods cows are given is just gross to think about. Human milk is better for baby and probably comprised of much better stuff. I will circumcise our boy for a number of reasons. There is no way I'm bringing makeup to the hospital. Most days I don't wear any so I'm certainly not going to wear any that day. That being said, if we weren't doing a newborn photo shoot I might consider it if those random photographers come around in the hospital.
