I'm an elementary special education teacher. I teach all kinds of kids, from learning disabilities and ADHD to cognitive disabilities to autism. DH is a welding teacher at the high school.
@pennyandandy I also teach at the elementary level. I currently have an ID classroom. Next year I will be teaching SMD/ID. We have a lot in common. Aren't you from Kansas as well?
Sales Admin (quotes, leasing etc), marketing and also dabble in outside Sales for a Office Technology company. I love my job so I will be going back after maternity leave
I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (some states we're called clinical social workers). Don't worry I don't "snatch babies" which is the typical association people have with social workers which is just super unfortunate.
I was totally on the snatching babies side for a while. I was a supervisor for a child advocacy program. Currently I'm working for the state (Department of Health and Senior Services)
I dropped out of the masters program my first pregnancy but my goal is to finish and get my LCSW about the time kiddos hit kindergarten.
I am an attorney for a firm that maiy represents police and firemen. We do interest arbitrations, contract negotiations, pensions, discipline appeals and I mostly do workers compensation and divorce....if you're bored from reading, imagine how I feel doing it. My DH is a laser operator for sheet metal fabricator so there is no chance I could be a SAHM
I'm a bankruptcy attorney (I handle mid-sized to large business cases, not individual cases). My husband is a doctor. I guess I could be a SAHM, but I don't think I am tough enough to handle it.
I work in fundraising for a performing arts nonprofit. It's lots of getting dressed up and schmoozing. I really like it, but the hours during our busy season are kind of brutal...we'll see how long I keep doing it after baby.

I am in central Kansas! I am going to guess you must be in a bigger district that can support having self contained classrooms. Whereabouts are you? Edit:nevermind, I just saw SW/soon to be Wichita in the other thread!
@MmmPopcorn, I'm a former middle school teacher! That was a crazy job, but I did enjoy it.
I'm a Ph.D. student studying neighborhood change and urban geography. I also teach a few courses as an adjunct. I'm hoping to graduate May 2015. After that, I'm considering SAHM-dom and continuing my nighttime adjunct work. We'll see.

I love this thread by the way!
ET fix my pisspoor proofreading.
Yay, geography! I got my Masters in Geography and work in GIS. (when I'm not eating nachos)
I have been working as nanny for the last 5 years taking care of three boys. We have a year long maternity leave in Canada so while I am on mat leave I plan to look for a new job in addictions counselling, that's what I went to school for
It's a rat race, but giant corporations have great healthcare packages.

I'm currently a pre nursing student who will be taking time off school to be a sahm. I was so close to applying before finding out I was pregnant! This is a very happy surprise though completely unexpected. My husband is in the Navy and is on his rates form of shore duty.
DBG wife, Pre-Med student, and Scentsy Certified Consultant
I'm a SAHM (when my youngest was born, daycare was no longer financially feasible on my salary), and I will continue to stay home at least until the last kid goes to school.
I'm currently working at Peaceful Valley Farm Supply. We focus on organic gardening and I love it! I have learned so much already and plan to continue gardening to provide healthy, home grown, organic foods for my family and me. I would love to be a SAHM, but I'm not sure if the cards will work out that way.
@jamiek1882 wow that is so cool you are a professor! @mneese tell me about it! Still a student but work at CVS and it's 14 hour days 8am to 10 pm for pharmacists..killer!!!
I was a nanny for 12 years but had to stop because it was getting too difficult with our infertility/adoption journey. I've spent the last year at home and the last five months finishing my associates degree. We just got our BFP yesterday after our second IUI procedure so I will most likely stay home!
I am a collections manager at a fine art museum on a university campus. I also am an adjunct professor in the museum studies Master's program. I've also been a staff member on archaeological excavations in the Mediterranean. I love what I do and have always known it's what I would be doing when I grew up. Although I do wonder if after having the baby I will want to stay home. I am very particular and can see myself thinking no one will do it the way I would. We shall see.
I work for the government in a museum as a reservations clerck. Not very exciting but the pay is good. I previously did my bachelor in graphic design and after graduation i decided it was not for me. I then proceeded to study french/english translation, still in the process but thinking of switching it up and going for something in health care, a little more active than behind a desk.
Dh is a medical technician in the Canadian Forces, Navy. He thinks i would be a great nurse, i'm leaning more towards ultrasound tech. or lactation consultant. Both very transportable (good for the military) but not in very high demand here... nursing really would be ideal. I'll take my year of maternity leave to weight my options! I can't wait!
