Re: CPW: Baby books

  • Yes.  We had one for DS which I sort of failed at but some things were recorded.  I'll attempt one again for #2.

What I prefer to long term memories are to make yearly Shutterfly photobooks.  I keep one for us and give one to each set of grandparents.  I do Finn's running from Halloween (day after his birthday) to his birthday the next year and then publish them around Christmas to use as presents.  My big dilemma is whether to combine DS and #2 in one book or attempt to make 2 of them every year.  It's more fun for me to see how much he's changed than go back to his baby book and read things like "Sat on X Date.  Sort of.  Then really started sitting on X Date."  LOL!

Maybe keep them separate for the first year, and then combine them after that.  That way they each have a "Baby" one to themself, but they have it together after that

Good idea.  I thought about that because all my baby pictures are organized in albums and my younger sister's are jumbled in a box, so it might be nice if I can get it together and let #2 have on his/her own.  I don't really know that when they are 10 and 13 they really need their own books anyway.

  • I have one for DD. I haven't put anything in it.
I keep saying when I'm done with school in May I'll have more time, but I know I'll just be busy getting ready for this LO.
Then I'll have two. Nothing will ever get done.

  • I do the Shutterfly photo book for their first year. I write about milestones there and it's mostly pictures. I will continue to do one for the new LO and then a joint one for our family.

  • I blog everything and print out the blog each year. I was always really good at keeping up with ds updates because you can blog from anywhere. Ds also has a scrapbook because someone pre-made one for me and I just had to add notes and pictures. I'll be doing the blogging for baby 2 and also will do a snapfish album of baby's first year.

  • I really thought I was going to fill DS's out but I didn't. I have a "baby" note on my iphone that has the age of all most of the major milestones, but other than that. No baby book.

  • I really like the idea of documenting your baby's lift and milestones... but the baby books I've seen have had a lot of things in them that I don't really feel are important or special. I really like the idea of taking tons of pictures and making sure they're dated approximately so that you can see your child grow through the months. I think I'll try to take pictures and then save them in some type of book so that they can be reflected on later. :)

  • We're actually doing a pretty good job keeping up with LO's. I figure if we don't do it now we never will and I don't like leaving things incomplete.

I have the book my mom did for me and I love it. I compare LO to what I did when I was a baby. I'm filling hers out because I'm so glad my mom did mine!

  • I've been updating ours every month on LO "birthdays". Having a set day helps me remember and keeps it current.

  • You guys are so good I haven't even thought about doing this, though I should. My mom did one for me but I honestly haven't looked at it in ages. I remember enjoying it when I was high school aged.
