TTC after 35

CoQ10 ... Do you take?

HI Ladies - I had a quick visit w/ my Dr this morning for my annual wellness exam.  I forgot to ask her about the above!  I'm taking a prenatal vitamin + vitamin D but I've had 2 friends recently say they got pg while taking CoQ10 both over age 35.  I've seen contradicting info online; so thought I'd ask here.  Have your Dr's recommended this to you?  TIA!

Re: CoQ10 ... Do you take?

  • I posted this thread about a month ago and several answered. It may be of interest to you to read through it.

I personally don't have much advice to give at this point as I have not been on it long enough to see results. Plus I'm doing IVF and that is a bit different than if you are naturally ttc.

Hope the info is helpful for you!

  • I take Coq10... but it isn't a miracle pill.... I think the studies do show  Coq10 and DHEA can be beneficial to some women but I wouldn't put too much stock into it.

  • Lurking in to say that I take 100 mg (I think it is mg) of Ubiquinol by Jarrow every day, and have for some time. I started taking it for my blood pressure, but it's supposed to be very good for increasing egg quality. Ubiquinol is the more bioavailable form of CoQ10, so you do not need to take as much. However, for fertility purposes, I think REs want you to take a higher, more therapeutic dose (200 mg and above? Don't quote me!). I never tried DHEA because that can mess with your hormones (for some women, in a good way, for others not so much), and it definitely should be something you'd discuss with your RE.

I can't say for certain if Ubquinol helped me get pregnant, but I can say that it has helped with my blood pressure and energy levels, which is a good thing. I would talk to your doctor about the correct dose to take. Hope this helps!
