Hi Ladies! )
Just wanted to see if there were any chairside dental assistants here along with me in this June Bug Club. I have been a CDA for almost 10 years now and I am venturing into new waters being pregnant and assisting. So far everything has been great other than the frequent runs to the bathroom or the breakroom for a snack or water. I am 27wks along and still doing great, but my question is actually if you were able to work comfortably or somewhat to the end of your pregnancy? I plan on working up until I go into labor due to no paid maternity leave. I have on occasion experienced back aches, but I just use my heatng pad at lunch and I am fine. I try to keep a good posture and not lean to much forward. Also if any CDA's were succesful in keeping up with breast feeding once back to work by pumping? And how often? I have seen two ladies I work with do it perfectly fine, but one is a dentist and the other a hygienst which can create blocks in their sch's for pumping time. I am kind of at the mercy of the doctor I work with. I assume I can just switch with another assistant for 20min to pump and come back, but i'm really nervous on how it is actually going to play out and if it is going to be possible. I would love to continue to breast feed and pump for up to a year....
Re: Any Chairside Dental Assistants here?
Like pp mentioned I think since your dentist and hygienist both have breastfed they should be understanding when you need to pump. I hope everything works out well for you!!

thanks ladies! It is really helpful. I currently work with the owner and no one else and he kids around saying hes only giving me "one hour" to have the baby and come back haha. Hes not so understanding of me needing to pump and its kind of an awkard conversation to have with your male boss haha, but I hope he doesn't see it being a big problem sneaking out twice a day for 20min and then i'll go at lunch like you said @jmknox and our staff bathroom has been the community pumping area in our location @ jmknox and its funny...it seems like our staff can't catch a break, we've had one co-worker have a baby every year since 2011 that has had to use it and who would of thunk it was going to be me this year haha.
i'll have to try the belly/back band if it gets to complicated. @MommaAshley12 I have an appointment with a chiropractor to next week to see about my back. Being an assistant I lean more to the right, and whichever way that the procedure needs me to be so hoping that the doc maybe can help with re-aligment of things...I know some indiv are not keen on the chiropractor, but i've also heard good things so we'll see how it goes.
heres to a H&H pregnancy for the both of you ladies! Thanks again
are you both in a GP?
