Nanny and the car

LO now has a weekly medical appointment and our nanny may need to drive her. It is a15 mile round trip. How do people typically handle nannies and driving? Do they use their car or yours? My insurance says I don't need to add her if she is an occasional driver of my car only, but this scares me. We have a car seat for the nannys car if we go that route, we would also reimburse mileage. Just want to see what others typically do.

2/12-5/12: 4 IUI cycles = all BFN;
7/12: DE IVF # 1 (with ICSI)- 20R, 16M, 14F, 5DT of 2 blasts; 6 frosties = BFN;
Lupus anticoagulant initially high, then found to be normal on hematology consult;
Follow up testing in September all clear;
Started synthroid for "high normal" TSH;
FET # 1- late October 2012- BFP on FRER; beta # 1- 21(low), beta # 2- 48 (still low), beta # 3- 132, beta # 4- 1,293; beta # 5- 5,606; last beta- over 100,000. First u/s 11/21- heard heartbeat
12/12- Officially an OB patient!
Level 2 ultrasound at 20 weeks shows vasa previa and VCI
Referral to MFM and mandatory c section for delivery
Beautiful baby girl born at 34 weeks
Finally home after 15 day NICU stay!
Trying for sibling: FET # 2- May 2014; beta 5/31, BFN
FET #3, early July 2014; beta 7/14, BFN
DE IVF # 2- August 2014; 14R, 13M, 11F, 5dt of 2 blasts (3 AA), 5 frosties = BFN
FET #4- December 2014, yet another BFN

Dr. KK work up shows borderline uterine blood flow, elevated NK cells, and MTHFR mutation (homozygous for c677t)

Added baby aspirin, prednisone, supplements, Metanx, and intralipids

Switched to large clinic for final attempt; had endometrial receptivity testing in January; FET March 2015 = yet another BFN

Likely OAD- NBC

    I let my nanny use our car. You can check her driving record if you want. Why does it make you nervous that you dont have to add her, I think that means she is covered if she has an accident

    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
    2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
    October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

    It makes me nervous not doing anything 100 percent by the book with insurance. I'd like to make sure she is officially on the policy. Insurance agent said if she only drove once per week, I did not need to add her. What happens if she indeed does get into an accident? From my perspective it is better to add her than have any potential questions arise. I may be gunshy with insurance as after 20 years of no claims, we had a large complicated home owners claim last year.

    Ours has car seats for both kids, since DH drives them to school in our car. She has a good driving record, we installed the seats, and she knows that they aren't supposed to wear their bulky winter coats in the car seats. I trust her to drive them around.

    I would give her a car seat for her car, I don't see a reason for her to drive yours. You can install the seat yourself and reimburse for gas.

    Well, why don't you ask your insurance guy what would happen if she got in an accident. When I asked my guy he said we didn't need to add her. I took it to mean that an accident would be covered.

    ETA And personally, I think the kids are safer in my car since its an SUV and I have more control over the carseat installation.

    She drives our main family car.

    My insurance company said she didn't needed to be added to policy if she didn't live with us.

    This is my thought as well. We have a spare car so we plan to let our nanny use my car.

    Just FYI, I spoke with my insurance and nanny spoke with hers. Her insurance does not cover her for business use of her car. According to my insurance, they would not cover our vicarious liability as employers should she get into an accident in her own car in the course of business. After googling more on the internet, I now see that this is common. So, we will be adding her to our policy to be extra cautious and having her drive my car.
