Did he just do that?

Did my 8 week old son really just sleep from 9-5am. He woke up at 5 and didn't even finish his whole bottle he was out again.
During the night he did make a bit of noise and movement. But I kept looking and he was sleeping.
Should I have gotten him up? Or let him tell me when it's time to eat?
Also I know he slept great but of course I'm up every 2-3 hours. Please tell me I will get used to sleeping again?

That's awesome! DD has given us a couple of long stretches and it is wonderful. It is hard to sleep but she sleeps in her bassinet right beside me and I'm a pretty light sleeper so I know I'll wake up if she's making any kind of noise and that makes it easier to sleep.

  • @km_md. He also sleeps in a playpen beside us. But every noise I'm constantly looking at him and wondering if he wants to eat.
  • That is fantastic!  You give me hope.  My LO was up every 1-2 hours last night; I'm blaming it on a growth spurt.  Enjoy it and no need to wake him up.  He will let you know if he is hungry. :)

  • Let him sleep! And you try to sleep too :)
Super jealous over here! Wish my 8 week old would sleep that long. Enjoy it!

DD has been sleeping 5-6 hour stretches at night, I just let her sleep and feed her when she gets up. I just Enjoy my sleep, cause I never know what tmrw will be like!

  • That's amazing, and I'm definitely jealous ;)
This little one tricks me all the time. She gave me a wonderful 4.5hr stretch last night them was up every 1.5-2 hours after that.
But, yes, definitely let him sleep!
  • Wasn't sure if this is part of a growth spurt? Or would he be up more at night during one?
I hope he keeps this up. But I won't get to excited just yet.
  • Gosh - I'm still only getting 3-4 hours at a time, if that. Enjoy that sleep!

  • From my understanding, as long as they're over 2 weeks and their growth is established there's no reason to wake them. So I say enjoy it

  • My boy occasionally does the same. Let it happen and enjoy while it lasts! (Cuz it doesn't...ugh)

  • Unless he has some medical reason to wake him (like to take meds), let him sleep no matter what. Sleep is when they do their growing. I will say you will get used to sleeping again, but I would not expect lightning to strike twice in the same spot. Babies are unpredictable about everything, especially sleep patterns.

  • That's awesome yeah always let them sleep at night, only if he's gaining weight well and all of what @sugarland726 said. I wake mine up during the day though to feed, his dr. Told me to not let him nap over 3 hours during the day, so I've been following that. Mine just did a 6 hour stretch which is nice but it's not every night that he does this. But enjoy when they do
