Milestone sadness

So I realized today when I saw the text DH sent me of Isaac cruising along the baby gate that next month my baby will be nine months old. Eliza started walking at nine months. WALKING!! Ladies, there will be babies that walk next month. It's pretty much just little mobile people from this point on. Whether it's crawling or walking or scooting they are all going to be mobile in the next couple of months. Where did our babies go!?

  • I know. We (group of parents with similarly aged LOs) were discussing this at the library today. To boot, I'm making the decisions for DS's school/future (K or wait? What to do if his school's pre-k doesn't run, etc) and realized my Little girl is going to be THREE this summer.

Slow the darn planet down, hit pause, something please.

  • Nope. I refuse. My baby will not move beyond sitting up. Sitter for life! I'm really in no hurry for crawling or walking. It happens to fast! :((

It's possible I am way too emotional of a person to have become a parent. I cried when LO popped his first tooth.
  • Slow down, babies! DD just got comfortable with sitting up and i'm super happy with that. I don't know why IRL parents are always bragging about how early their kid started walking. Sitter for lyfe!!!

  • The may11 board had a 7.5 month old walker. She took video. It was crazy.

Ha! I hope he never poops a tooth!
  • No way. In denial. Not happening.

  • @mimi4347 that's so awesome!

H can do the same, it's pretty cool. He just learned to sit though, weird little guy.
  • @Asbromle Lucas has been sitting for less than a month. He was standing before he could sit. He wants to move SO bad.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts!
DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
  • Sully could pull to standing before sitting up/crawling. I was terrified he might actually walk first, but he started sitting up and crawling all this past week. I'm not ready!!!

My little brother was just over 7 mo when he started walking. My mom has pictures of him free standing by the Xmas tree (he was born in May). The kid has always been crazy coordinated.

But yeah, I walked at 9 mo, DD was 10 mo and this kid already is trying to chase his big sis, so it won't be long. I keep telling DH we need another baby because he's growing too fast but he's not taking the bait.

  • Slow down babies!! My little ones were/are on the later end of the spectrum for walking I think (LO can sit with the best of them now, but not much else!). I'm okay with that!

Nooooo. I can't believe how quickly the past 8+ months have flown!

Our house is still nowhere near child proofed though, so I am ok with my sitter for life baby.

My friend had a baby in late June and he's standing on his own already. Right in the middle of the room. Her second baby walked at 8 months and I bet he does the same thing.

My kids were all late walkers...like 13 months and 15 months. I'm totally fine with that.
  • My middle boys didn't walk until 16 months, so I still have a few more months of stressing out over milestones. But seeing pics and videos of all these older, mobile infants is sad.

  • No. Just no. I'm putting my fingers in my ears and shutting my eyes. I can't hear you!!! ;)
  • I can't believe P is almost 9 months.  According to the baby calendar on here, there are exactly 100 days till his birthday.  I might have an ugly cry lol

This is happening so, so fast. In 10 days, we went from sitting to crawling with precision, emptying ottomans, and pulling up then proceeding to stand and play while balancing with one hand.

Sheesh! Ten days?? That's so fast. I'd cry for sure! My Elanor loves sitting and lunging. She still hates tummy time. I'm ok with that if it means she continues to be my little paper weight!
