How is everyone doing?  Anything new, exciting, or interesting?

GTKY:  What's your plan for the nursery?  Will baby have his or her own room?  If you're having twins, will they be in the same room?  Do you have a theme, color scheme, or decorating plan of any sort?

  • Hi ladies!!!

We had our elective ultrasound this past weekend and found out we are team pink! We are so excited! Her name is Zoey, we have had that name picked out for a few years now! So it worked out perfectly. She is already so dramatic with her gestures and how she moves! I had my monthly OB appointment on Monday and i only gained 2lbs from the last month which was a HUGE relief as the month before i had gained like 9lbs! So, doc was please and so was i! My dr tried to listen to LOs heartbeat and she kept moving away from the doppler like a little fish swimming back and forth, my dr spent like 10 min trying to catch her and then started pushing down on one side to trap her - to no avail my little fish kept escaping! I swear though, they push down SO HARD with the ultrasound thingy - it actually hurts, not sure if thats everywhere but both times this week it felt like they were going to break something! Next week we have our anatomy scan, trying to stay positive and hope everything looks good at the scan. We also started our registry on Saturday, fun but more overwhelming than i was expecting! It was so annoying to go to BRU and them not even have the stroller we wanted to look at! That is a work in progress...

still waiting to feel more movement, i think i've felt LO a couple times this past week but i cant be 100% sure - i'm 19w today so i'm hoping we will get some bigger action soon!

GTKY:  What's your plan for the nursery?  Will baby have his or her own room?  If you're having twins, will they be in the same room?  Do you have a theme, color scheme, or decorating plan of any sort?

Zoey does have her own room, we have to do a little construction in the next couple months, we want to put the closet on the opposite side of the room and add bookshelves on both sides as well as new carpeting and install a ceiling fan - so much work! and we are running out of time! Not sure on the theme yet, i for sure i know i wan't the walls to be either 1 or 2 shades of gray.. and have lots of accent colors, may be coral or a purple.. gotta get moving on that!

can't believe HOW FAST this pregnancy is going!

hope you all are doing fantastic!

    :)

  • Hey everyone hope things are going well. Our LO will have her own room, but it is currently an office. The walls will be blue and gray with pink accents.

My robotics kids think the nursery should have dinosaurs or robots as the theme. We don't really have a theme but I do have a vision of what I want.

We got our registries mostly done since my SIL wanted to send out invites last week. Think we might get the nursery furniture this weekend cause it is on sale.

OK so this is random but last week was a robotics competition that my husband and I help with by mentoring high school students to build a robot in 6 weeks. We ended up in 2nd going into the finals. We didn't end up winning but seeing their smiles makes it all worth it. It's like I am a mom to 25 high school kids. Thinking about not mentoring next year has me bummed a bit but I can't wait until my LO is competing in a robotics competition. Our child is doomed! Lego's, RC cars and robots will most likely be her toys!

Anyway I hope everyone is doing well and everyone's appts go well in the next week as well.
  • @littlemissmarla  Hooray for little girl Zoey!  Isn't the registry thing crazy?!  When I went to BRU I only scanned like 10 things and then I had to get the heck out of there...I felt like I just had no idea what was the "right thing" to get!

@brittajeanetta  I know what you mean!  I plan on having a little scientist myself  :)  We've already got these sleepers in his closet, haha!

  • I'm scared! Tomorrow is the Anatomy Scan. Cue freakout.

Nursery - kid will be in our room until we sell our house. So I'm daydreaming of a nursery, but the kid will be in a pack and play for awhile.

  • I look forward to this checkin to see how you ladies are doing. It sounds like really well. @supertinkerham don't stress. Focus on the positive of seeing the baby. So fun!

Somebody told me that most babies from IVF are boys. It looks like our group is girl heavy so far. Just a random thought.

I'm starting to love pregnancy. I'm finally feeling better and I have a little bump. And I finally felt him move!!

Our little one will have his own room. The theme is very hungry caterpillar. I've loved this set for four years. I can't figure out a wall color to go with it. It is very bright primary colors.
  • @Kabee4 I loooooooove Very Hungry Caterpillar. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

  • @supertinkerham   ... obsessed with your gif siggy lol! and i am also planning on using a PNP at first.. i think it makes so much more sense then buying a separate co-sleeper or bassinet

@ylvelill that is awesome you have an extra room for a play space! that will come in handy!!

@Kabee4  There are a lot of great different types of blues and greens in that book that aren't all super bright...you might be able to pick one of those that you like for the walls  :)

Very interesting theory on the IVF=boys....guess it doesn't hold up!

@Ylvelill  So glad to hear you've stopped bleeding!!  That has gotta be super scary  :(

My "new and interesting" stuff is this new aching in my lower belly.  I guess there's stretching or something going on down there, because it's super uncomfortable to stand up, or lift my legs, or roll over.......also, constipation.  WTF?!  I was SUPER regular throughout the whole pregnancy until now.  Like oddly more regular than I've ever been in my life.  Well those days are over!  My whole belly just feels very big and uncomfortable these days  :(

Good thing I'm so freakin' grateful that my oven finally has a bun baking in there!!  It's hard to complain when I think about how many tears were shed over the thought that I might not ever get to experience this  :)

GTKY:  Baby will have his own room, and it's rapidly becoming the nicest room in the house, haha!  We put in new floors, painted, revamped the closet, installed new baseboards and trim.  Our house is pretty much an old 1950s crapbox, but his room is snazzy!  ;)

You may have seen these photos on the "is anybody nesting" thread, but if not, here's his room as we were starting to fix it up, and how it's looking now.

I still have no idea on a theme or decor, but I'm just happy that it's looking like a nice, modern room!

  • @supertinkerham I freaked before my scan too. It's all part of the fun!

@kabee4 At my RE office the babies are about 75% girls. I'm friends with the embryologist. She told me that the embryologists pick the sperm that they think "look" good. She tends to pick ones with rounder heads, and those create more girls. I bet each office is different.

Ylvelill Your idea of rooms sounds great! One for a nursery and one play room is amazing. We created our playroom at around 6 months, so you'll need it soon enough!

I'm doing well girls. Lots and lots of baby movement. I'm a teacher on on my feet all day. . . today I could feel baby moving while I was standing and teaching. It was crazy.

This Sweet Pea will have to share a room with DD. We live in a two bedroom house so there are not many options. We used to want to move into a bigger house and now I think we should enjoy our $1,100 mortgage and continue to enjoy our current lifestyle. DD's side of the room is pink, lime and some other colors. Her bedding is Vienna Elephant PBK. The LO will be teal and gray. All bedding from Aden Anais!

@hels Hope you are doing well!

  • Hi, everyone!  Not much to report here other than my a/s last week (which I posted about on an a/s thread).  We're having a perfect little girl.  :-)  I've gone ahead and bought some adorable little girl clothes.  Looking at those little onesies and jammies makes it all seem more real.

DD will have her own room for now . . .  though that room will travel across the country.  We're moving from NYC to California around October 1.  So I'm not going to put too much effort into decorating her room here.  Fortunately when we renovated I had it painted a nice light/mint green, so the decor will still be relatively baby friendly.  There's a guest bed in there now that I'll probably leave in there so I can sleep nearby some portion of the night if baby is being fussy.  We bought a mini-crib on casters with the thought that it could be in our room most of the time, but I'm not sure how much DH will tolerate being woken up multiple times in the night.  (He works pretty long hours.)
  • @pregsncsnoozalot I'm also having some interesting growing pains! I agree though, Even though its easy to complain I try to remember what it took to get this far :)

Your LOs room looks SO GOOD! I love the color on the wall! I can't tell from mobile is it a gray or like a grayish green? Either way I love it!

  • Great to hear everyone is doing well :)

We are trying to finish our registry and will be going out to try strollers and car seats this weekend.

    I have a strange question....

I got pictures of my embryos on the day of the transfer and I really want to blow it up and frame it on my wall. Is that weird? I was just so happy that day and I kept looking it them and thinking about the babies that were hopefully growing inside me :)

I love it. Since we transferred 2 and only 1 stuck, we won't be doing that. But I think you should totally do it.

  • Yeah I first brought it up before we knew any stuck and my husband said no way unless both stick :)
  • @ylvelill I think that is a great idea! We still have our embryo pics on our fridge and we keep adding to the pile with each ultrasound

  • @littlemissmarla  thanks!  the room is actually gray-blue...i think the white balance may be a little messed up on the camera 'cause yeah, it does look more greenish in the photo!   :-/

@Ylvelill  we love our embryo photo, too!  the day of the FET when the embryologist handed it to us we laughed "baby's first photo!"  which was strange because we hadn't thought that at all with our failed fresh cycle when we transferred two.  maybe somehow we "knew"!--cue twilight zone music  ;)

@SuperTinkerham  GOOD LUCK at your A/S!  Let us know how it goes  :)

  • @Ylvelill my 5 day Blast photo is going in the scrapbook I cried when they gave it to us thinking how lucky and special this baby is that we got such an early pic of her
  • @brittajeanetta  it IS really cool to have that photo, isn't it?!  i wonder what our little ones will think about seeing themselves as a blastocyst when they're old enough to understand what they're looking at.  i mean, we all were a blastocyst at some point, but how strange to be able to see it!  i also wonder what my LO will think about having been frozen as a blastocyst.  it's really kind of surreal...

  • @pregsmcsnoozealot - my mom keeps calling them inuits because they were frozen, I try to tell her it isn't politically correct and she just laughs. I can't help smiling a little too :)

Even weirder is that chronologically this baby is older than his/her cousin who will have been born almost a year before it. If we go by conception dates that is :)
    BabyFruit Ticker

  • I had to laugh last night, someone made a comment about more girls being born with ivf. My husband got this look on his face like oh no because we have 3 frozen ones, now he is worried they will all be girls. Hehe I asked him would it be so bad to have 4 princesses and a queen in the house. There actually isn't that big of a difference in the ratio one we looked it up.

@Dream123456778 yeah I was actually thinking about that the other day too that technically all of my babies will be conceived on the same day so does that make them quadruplets even though they will all be born on a different day?
  • I haven't even began to think about a nursery yet.  She'll have her own room, but it is an office now... which means I'll have to make room in the basement for an office, then clean up the upstairs office and empty the closet (lord know where to put that crap) then start thinking about a nursery.  We live in a small 3 bd. townhome with very little closet space, so finding room to store our stuff is going to be challenging.  I started cleaning up our storage space in the basement to hopefully be able to store stuff down there.  I may be able to put some stuff up in the attic too... but rather not if I can help it.  It gets hellish hot up there. My goal in the next 2 months is to purge purge purge.... we're having a yard sale in May, so hopefully we'll be able to make some room.  Lots to do before the fun decorating part starts

Wow! Really loving all of these post updates! So happy to see everyone is doing well.

I too am doing well, will be 23 weeks tomorrow and at our 21 week scan he was already a pound and measuring a week and a half ahead! This past Saturday we felt the first kicks/rolls from the outside! It was so cool! He seems to be doing it about every other day now, and a few of my co-workers were able to feel him today! I can't believe he was once a little blastocyst... It's so surreal. I was looking at that before our scan 2 weeks ago and really just can't believe how blessed I feel for this little guy growing in my belly.

We've planned a nautical/treasure island pirate theme and should start painting soon! Ahh! So excited! :)

On the topic of more girls or boys in IVF, my MIL told me she read a study that said out of 200 IVF cycles 120 will be boys. Which works out in my family as they are all IVF babes and are boys!

We're moving to San Francisco.  I will definitely miss NYC!  We're going because my husband's company is moving, not because we wanted to move there, though I'm hoping we'll end up loving it.  It will be quite a year for us.  :-)

Hi Ladies! I feel like I fell off the face of the planet and have been totally MIA. I hope everyone is doing well. I plan on stalking everyone's updates as soon as LO goes to bed :)

I literally have zero plans for the nursery other than I know that it's currently an office.  We live in a 3 bedroom house.  So our master, DDs bedroom and an office.  I used to swear up and down if I had two girls, they would share a room.  But now that the time has come, DD is just not ready.  I think a newborn crying in the middle of the night would totally mess up her already crappy sleeping habits .

So jealous! I lived in San Mateo for 12 years, I miss it :)

  • Hey girls,

Nothing new, but we got our quad results back and they were all good, so that's a relief!

We have our fetal echo on Monday and anatomy scan on Thursday, so I am excited to see my boy again and just hope everything goes well with those!

I am doing a nautical/undersea theme for our guy's nursery. Dh is going to paint the walls an aqua color and then I am going to get these decals of a little fish scene for one wall. I'm excited! It will be mostly blues and aqua's....water colors basically!
