Yesterday in that hot mess of a board-wide thread someone "confessed" to stuff she does that other people find gross, but that she feels helps her immune system. I think it included but was not limited to planting her bare butt on public toilets and sharing water with her cats. Both of those things make my skin crawl but it got me to thinking that we all probably do something other people would find nasty.
I have a big blue cup that I love. I used to have a set of 10 but am down to one. I'm too lazy to wash it so I will re-use it for two days at a time. I tuck it away in a corner where nobody else will be tempted to drink from it but I know it is still foul not to wash it every time. I'm pretty weird so I have to have my crushed ice and my super cold water in my special cup. My husband is horrified by this and insists water goes "stale."
So, share your your "nasty thing."
Re: Eeeew! You're Gross!
I have a glass of water on my bedside table that will take me three nights to drink, and I don't refill/rinse until I've gone through all of it. My DH says the same as yours, it's stale after one night.
I also plant my bare butt on public toilet seats. I started my last pregnancy because I literally couldn't hold myself up anymore to pop a squat, was too lazy to put down TP (which is sooooo porous anyway), and I felt like I emptied better if I was sitting down. I didn't get a rash, never got sick, and in general survived fine...so I kept it up. I always check for wet spots, though, because those are gross!

Same.
Hmm I'm pretty gross. It would never cross my mind to cover a toilet seat or to use any kind of paper to flush/open the door/etc. Waste of paper.
We let our dog lick all of our plates, and then we wash them. Not sure if that's considered gross.
Also, if I've used a pot to boil rice, veggies or pasta, I will reuse that same pot the next time without washing. Same goes if there was butter or something in a frying pan for sauteing.
I also don't know the last time I've washed my water cup or commuter mug, or the coffee pot for that matter.
I will continue to rewear clothing (not underwea) over and over again without washing as long as it doesn't smell and is not stained. Especially bras, which I almost never wash. I think excessive clothes washing is a waste of water.
I'm not sure how I got this way....I have memories of my dad telling me it's okay to blow my nose in my hand while helping him out in the garden and a few other similar morsels of advice, so I will blame him.
So my ears are pierced but I never wear earrings. There's usually a little knot living in each of my earlobes especially following the rare occasion I actually wear earrings. Here's the gross part: I frequently squeeze my earlobes while driving home from work. I have a long commute and I suppose I absentmindedly squeeze my lobes out of boredom/anxiety/what-have-you. Here's the grosser part: I ALWAYS smell my fingers post earlobe squeeze session. It smells like you'd expect but I just can't not smell it. I keep hand sanitizer in my car mostly for post earlobe squeeze disinfection.
It feels good getting that one off my chest. Gross confession relief at its finest.
Sooooooo my addition is that I am so congested in the morning I literally have to perform surgery on my nostrils to remove my bloody mucusboogers (that are the size of caterpillars) from my nose. Yes, after a saline solution showdown, I cram my tiny fingers into my nose to remove the goblins so I can freaking breath.
I should note I have asthma and it's flared up while pregnant.

DH and I think it is hysterical to have him "use" our fork. And occasionally, I let him lick something off my spoon while I'm still using it.
I am not grossed out by it in the slightest but I think people will think I'm a creep.
I also bare-ass sit on public toilets.
Don't wash clothes after every wear.
Drink "stale" water.
Pick my nose in the morning (also for breathing purposes)
Pee in the shower.
I just love y'all.
Eta: This is also my 500th comment! What a great way to remember this milestone!
