Congrats on your baby girl. Please, please don't let doctor Google scare the crap out of you about this. First of all, your doctor says its a "question", not a definitive diagnosis, so until this has been proven 100% for certain, you might have a perfectly normal, healthy little girl. My prayers will be with you and your little one!

Second, spina bifida is not a death sentence, nor does it have to necessarily be a terrible thing. As PPs have said, some forms can be corrected surgically in the womb or shortly after birth. The miracles modern medicine has come up with amaze me! Even with the limits the doctors had 27 years ago, I have a cousin who is a year older than me living a full life with spina bifida. She had to go through many surgeries and is confined to a wheelchair, but when we were younger, she wasn't expected to see her 18th birthday. Imagine the advances that might be in place when your little girl is older if, God forbid, she does turn out to have spina bifida.

Just so you know, there are different types of spina bifida. My mom has occular spina bifida and is fine. She just has to keep an eye on her eyes as she gets older.

Hope the SB chance isn't too high. Congrats on the little girl!!!

Congrats on a baby girl!

I have no experience but my in laws were told my BIL would have spinal bifida because his head measured so large.

My BIL was born perfectly healthy with just a large head he eventually grew into.

I hope everything is okay with your little girl.
