Can poor latch = gassy baby?

DS is really gassy, to the point where he's up for hours in the middle of the night squirming and farting when it's clear he's trying to go to sleep. I've changed my diet and cut out all dairy, since DD had an issue with dairy, but diet changes haven't seemed to help much. From what I can tell, I don't have an oversupply or overly forceful let-down, so I'm thinking it may be a latching issue and I may make an LC appt. Has anyone else dealt with/heard of a poor latch leading to gassiness?

Re: Can poor latch = gassy baby?

  • I've heard that poor latch can contribute to gas.
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

  • I've read this somewhere too but can't remember where. My LO is crazy gassy too so I was looking for possible causes, like you had already cut out dairy. I think our issue is forceful letdown though. Did you look on kellymom?
