Grapes

How much are they in your area?

Miss boss only likes expensive fruit now. She demands blueberries, strawberries, and grapes. I was telling my mom the damn grapes are $6.50 here! She said they are $2 where she lives. Wtf?

And wtf kid why don't you like banana, apple, or oranges anymore?

Re: Grapes

  • Usually 2-4. Summer time 99 cents

  • Wtf?! Why are they so expensive. The grapes that are under $3 have seeds. The seedless are more than double. This is insanity. We literally have a million fights a day over grapes because I only give her a small handful a day.

  • 2-4 and a lot of times they have the nerve to still put them out even when they dont look so good. Like they have about a day left until they are gross

  • They are the same price at both trader joes and fresh and easy. I guess it makes sense with the drought

Only time I've ever seen them on sale is when they have hit the use by date. But that is also a great idea @aimee223

  • Oh man!  Just went to Vons for their $5 Friday deals and got me some blueberries 2/$5.  I think the grapes were like $4 something a pound!

  • Grapes are usually between 2-3. Right now they are on sale for $1.98/lb. My kids also love blueberries and strawberries. I paid $3.50 for 11oz of blueberries and strawberries are about $5/lb if not on sale. The biggest issue I have is the out of season fruit looks nasty to start with. I can't justify the price when it goes bad in a day.

Do you have an Aldi near you? Honestly they seem to have the best prices and quality, at least around here. I'm assuming the quality is higher because it doesn't sit on the shelf for long. Another alternative is frozen fruit.

  • @bellaxanthe all the boxes say they come from Mexico. Not sure why they aren't from here. Maybe all our grapes get used up for wine? And MIL had a grapevine and they attract opossums and rats hard core. She even found a family of opossums in the house living in her closet once @-)

  • 4.99/2lbs at sprouts here in Colorado,  I don't get them unless they are 3/lbs and even then I only do 1 lb. I'm cheap.

  • I'm going to stop being annoyed that our seedless grapes are regularly $1.99/lb (I got some on sale last week for $1.49).  I thought that was outrageous until I read this post.  In the summer we can usually get them on sale for $0.88/lb.  Now I will think I am getting a deal if I pay $1.99/lb!!!
