NCDR- I don't know what to do - vent update

This past Friday the owner of the salon I work at told us she is putting it up for sale. She said we are welcome to work there until someone else buys it or until the end of the year. Now she keeps asking everyone if we are staying and what we are planning. I live an hour away and stay at my parents with the kids 2 nights a week and have free babysitting while I work which is the only way I make any money. DH make enough to pay the bills but I pay for groceries and extras like clothes and our cell phones. We could be ok but I am freaking out. I feel like she wants everyone to quit. I am trying to just go with it and hope for the best but it's really hard.
I can't afford to work in the city I live in between daycare and what rent could be. I am making myself sick worrying and know it will be ok and something else will come up. Vent over and back to life. Thanks for reading if you did I just needed to get this out there.

Update... Apparently everyone else I work with gave her notice they will be done at the end of the month. This sucks.

  • Firstly, sorry you have to deal with this. Uncertainty around employment is one of the worse stresses in life, hang in there.

I would do nothing and go with the flow. She cannot force you to quit, she can make life tough but my thought is if there is a buyer, maybe they need workers so you may keep your job. I don't get the quit or stay to the end of the year, so is she saying if there is no buyer then she will close shop by years end?

Hang in there, even though it is tough. If everyone else is leaving she will need you to help out.gain, sorry that this is even happening.

  • hang in as longas you can. As long as you don't quit you should be eligible for unemployment. That would buy you more time to find something.

  • Hugs...this situation totally sucks. I agree with PPs. Sticking it out as long as you can is my advice.
