Assuming you could have as many children as you wanted with nothing standing in your way like miscarriage, ability to carry, financial issues or anything else...
DH and I always wanted 2, since Peyton was born sleeping I want 3. So hopefully this LO comes home safe and sound and we will be just where we want to be. I think it's something about the fact that 3 children at home means you are out numbered that makes me think 2 is perfect for us.
Married the love of my life 7/11/09 - Our first baby, Peyton Mark, was born sleeping 10/25/11 at 33 weeks - Our second baby, BFP 2/4/12, welcome to the world Raylan! Holy Moly, BPF 2/4/14, please be safe and sound little one!

I am a little scared of 3 for that reason but 4 maybe they could play 2 and 2.
I think 4-5, but spread out. Like have 2-3 within 5 years, then another two about 10 years after. I'm not sure why, but I love children and I love the "family" environment. I can't imagine how heartbroken my life will be once I raise children and have them move away. If I had some time in between, I think it wouldn't be so difficult.
Of course, I have no children yet, and I'm sure my opinion on this will dramatically change once I do, lol!
DH and I have always wanted 3 but now he is leaning more toward 2. My dream number is definitely still 3. I grew up with 3 of us and I always loved the dynamics.
In this magical world, can I drink wine while pregnant? In that case, I'll start an army! haha
Seriously though, I'm one of 4 kids, and I love love love having a "big" family. If money and age (I'm nearly 33) wasn't a factor, I'd pop out six kids. The hubs is an only child, so for the longest time, he was cool with just one little monster. Now that we are pregnant, I think he thinks we are done after this one.
...little does he know, I hold the cards. mwa ha ha. (kidding. totally kidding).
I've always said 4 but I'll wait and see how the first one goes. My husband keeps saying we are going to have one spoiled brat because I won't want to go through this horrible MS again.
2, the world is really designed for a family of 4, tables at restaurants, cars and hotel rooms are just some of the things I can think of that are easier with 4 than 5 or more
2 seems best for us. I would be ok with one if that is the hand we are dealt though.
Started TTC August 2012.
BFP 10/17/12...natural MC on 10/23/12, Missing our little bean every day!
11/13-started seeking help at fertility clinic.
Me: 29 (ovulation/menstrual irregularities, HSG clear), DH: 31 (1% morphology, rest is normal) SHOCKING BFP during cycle prior to IUI #1 on 1-26-14. Beta 1: 39.1, Beta 2: 100, Beta 3: 234.5!!!
keep growing little one! EDD 10/7/14
4 is the number we've agreed on trying for. If we don't have a girl by #4, DH says he's willing to consider a 5th (he's from a family of all boys, we have DS and one nephew...a girl would be a big deal in his family. Lol).
So 4-5, but we would accept any and all blessings we're given! Aaaah college!
I remember one night being so sick while pregnant with DS. I sat on the edge of the tub after an evening of uncontrollable puking, and I cried and cried. DH rubbed my back and told me it would all be ok. I told him between sniffles/tears; "I know we said we want like 4 kids, but how anyone can do this more than once is such a mystery to me!" Cue more puking...
But once I made it to 2nd tri and felt the energy pick up, and once I felt DS' little kicks and hiccups, and even more so when I held him in my arms, morning sickness seemed so distant and insignificant...I knew I wanted more kids!
It sounds silly, but it does get better, you do forget the bad (or rather, you remember it happening but it doesn't seem so bad in hindsight), and that warm little monkey in your arms makes up for all the discomforts of getting him there.
6. Possibly more. I'm on #3 now, so almost halfway there.
I come from a huge family and I absolutely love it. My mom's mom is 1 of 15, my mom and dad are both 1 of 6, DH and I are both 1 of 4. I can not imagine having less than 4. DH says he could be done after this one but knows I want at least 1 more. He's also said that if we won the lottery he'd be happy to give me as many kids as I wanted. lol
Hubby and I ask oursleves this question all the time. Our ages (both turning 34 this year), financials and all other factors aside, we would probably have 4 or 5 children. That would be a dream to us, a house full of children. We will likely stop at 2. Maaaaaybe 3 if we are able to get pregnant fairly soon after this LO comes along - but not TOO soon!
2. I think that 3 is much more complex to parent. I have seen more issues that carry into adulthood with 3-sibling families.
PG#1 - 3rd cycle BFP. Team Green. HELLP syndrome @ 34 weeks. Later diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, possible link to HELLP.
PG#2 M/C 3/14 - Surprise BFP 2/13. Beta's doubled every 52 hours from 3w5d-5w5d Viable pregnancy scan at 5w5d; 2nd u/s showed 2 days of growth in 7 but a HB of 120 3rd u/s on 3/10/14 had no HB and baby had only grown 7 days over 14 D&C 3/17/14 - complications - DX Retroflexed uterus, multiple tears to cervix
My ideal family would have 6-8 kids, but I am open to more if that happens. I think 4 is my bare minimum, we would try to adopt if we couldn't have at least 4 biologically. Depending on finances, we would adopt some even if we did have 4 or more on our own, I have always wanted to adopt.
2. DH and I were strongly considering having just 1 because it's extremely rewarding but exhausting at the same time. And DD had JUST started sleeping through the night @ 14 months. 2 days later we found out about #2.
