april 1st!!! update on what doc said.

Well my doc said im 1cm dilated and I'm starting to thin out, and I'm measuring a week ahead he changed my due date to April 1st!!! So excited!!!

Update:
Doc said he changed my due date cause he feels that's when baby will come but told me I can still go by my original due date witch was April 4th but he has on his paper work that it's the 1st of April.. so I'm still going by my original due date, the doc didn't really give me a good explanation but I guess it's better then nothing

I don't see why they would change your due date if your only measuring 1 week ahead!?
My baby has been measuring 4 and 1/2 weeks ahead for the last 8 weeks and nothing will be changed! Size doesn't make a difference to lung development

I didn't think they changed dates at this point either. Have you been measuring ahead for awhile? How sure are you about your dates?

yeah i'm glad the other girls said it already... changing a due date based on baby measuring big in the third trimester seems very medically irresponsible. i had 6 ultrasounds in the first half of my pregnancy, and the only u/s my OB cared about for dating purposes was the very first one at 6 weeks. all of my other ultrasounds showed i was a week ahead, but i made sure they only took the first u/s into account when calculating my EDD. early ultrasounds are FAR more accurate (edited to clarify: for establishing a correct due date) than late ones.

why did you have the late ultrasound anyway? to check baby's positioning?

Well, now you'll be "overdue" one week earlier. Fun for the whole induction family!

But seriously, gestational age doesn't change just because you potentially have a slightly bigger baby. Or a bigger uterus. Actually, fundal height doesn't even matter after 36w.

I'd ask your doctor what he's thinking with this: it's really, really bizarre to change your due date this late.

He had said that my stomach is meausing at 36 weeks instead of 35 and then he said he expects the baby to be here by April 1st and changed my due date on his paper work... Idk why he changed it. He didn't seem worried so I didn't ask

I would seriously run not walk away from am OB that changes a due date based on fundal height.

Your baby is going to show up when your baby is going to show up, regardless of what your EDD is.

I've been measuring 2+ weeks ahead my entire third trimester, but that doesn't mean the baby is going to come 2+ weeks early, necessarily. It might come 2 weeks late.

If only it were that easy!

The problem is that interventions are planned around your due date which should be based on gestational age, not "size". With a new EDD you are going to be overdue one week before you are actually overdue, which may mean an entirely unnecessary induction.

Everyone already said what I was thinking. I just wanted to add that fundal height depends on so many factors anyway - such as baby's positioning. I was sent for an ultrasound last week because LO was measuring three weeks behind but when the tech checked his weight (again, totally an estimate) he was weighing more than a week ahead.. and my due date is NOT getting changed, i know exactly when I conceived anyway (thanks to ovulation tracking and limited window of opportunity due to DH being military and away most of last summer.)So basically weight and baby size is a guessing game at this point, I wouldn't change my EDD if I were you or you'll drive yourself crazy at the end.

Also, 1 cm dilation means nothing (most of the time).

It's totally normal for fundal height to measure up to two weeks ahead or two weeks behind. It's affected a lot by things like babies position. What's he going to do next week when you're measuring on time or a week behind?

I've been saying my whole pregnancy that he will be here by the end of march or April 1st. That's been my gut feeling for a long time Dow. So Idk... All I care about is that baby is meausing good and he's healthy. Idk why he changed the date. I'll remind myself to ask him next week. But like other have said this baby is going to come when he's ready and that's all we can be sure of. I'm just excited and ready to meet my little guy

Um, this is scary! I've been measuring 2-4 weeks ahead by fundal height for the last 3 months. I have polyhydramnios and baby is measuring a couple of days behind. Fundal height doesn't have jack to do with how ready baby is to be born!!!

I measured 2 weeks ahead with DS and he was born 2 weeks late...

At my last appt at 31w4d, I measured 31.5. My doctor was amazed at how "perfectly" I was measuring and said he'd never seen it...

Sounds like an induction pushing OB. 1cm at 36 weeks means nothing, as with measuring one week ahead.

Your date at this point actually matters a hell of a lot! Babies development is to do with how long they have been gestating, not how big they are!! a 10 pound baby born early will be underdeveloped, and a 6 pound baby born late will be fully developed (generally!!!)

There is a reason the first ultrasound is called a Dating ultrasound! TBH your Dr changing your date at this late stage sounds like a set up for intervention! easier for Dr, not necessarily for you! What happens if you get to 40 weeks by your new date (39 by your original), and your Dr pushes for induction??? Granted a week doesn't sound huge, but the last thing to develop is your babies lungs, and they need that time! even one or two days are important!!

I say this all the time, but at the end of the day, if you are really truly comfortable, then fine leave it, but I would be seriously questioning the judgement of a Dr changing my date at this point, particularly without a proper medical explanation!

He hasn't said anything about an induction. I will be asking him why the date changed next week but at the time I wasn't thinking about it nor did I realize it's such a big deal for it to change..

Doesn't really matter if it's just a week. Baby will come when baby comes! Would be exciting if baby was ready a week earlier though!

He may not have come out and said it and I'd be surprised if he did, but there are a lot of red flags when a due date is suddenly change for no good reason.

My fundal height was about a week and a half ahead, doc had me go empty my bladder and bam right where it should have been. Just seems weird your doctor would change your due date on fundal height alone.

I was 4cm dilated at my appt on Friday (due April 2) and my doctor has thought I will go early all along based on my pregnancy with DS1, and even now she thinks I will deliver at 37 weeks or so, but she definitely hasn't made any changes to my due date, I don't see any reason to this late in the game.

If you have a history of early delivery that's one thing, but being dilated or effaced at this point really doesn't tell you much about when you'll deliver. You could walk around like that for weeks before things get moving.

Why did your doctor check your cervix? Im honestly wondering because i have had horrible pelvic pain for a while. My OB had the ultrasound tech check my cervix twice and he said it looks fine so i wont be getting it checked again. Is it normal for them to check it or was there a problem?

I'm almost 36 weeks and thats when my OB starts cervical checks. I don't have anything going on but my weekly appointments have started so each week I get my cervix checked

Good idea

be a good advocate for yourself. Maybe he's just guessing you'll go early, or maybe he's the type that will push for an induction.

Don't let anyone push you around.

I measure 3 weeks ahead every time. My midwife said she would never change the due date. She told me baby may come early if she's ready but the due date is set and they wont change anything.
