So my LO will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and had been consistently waking up/eating every two hours like clock work with the occasional 3 hour stretch here and there. The past week we had been getting a few more 3 hour stretches and I was thankful. Yesterday she had been fussy off and on all day and spitting up after eating most of the day.
Fast forward to evening. She ate at about 615pm (breastfeeding) and then a tiny bit more at about 7pm. She went to sleep at about 745 or so. Then she didn't wake up to eat until 12am!! I had fallen asleep, otherwise I probably would've waken her up to eat (she has never gone more than 3.5 hours between feeds). Then the next feeding was another 3.5 hours after.
I know I should probably be happy, but I'm being paranoid that she had a 5 hour stretch followed by a 3.5 hour stretch. Is this normal? Does this just this mean she is starting to sleep more at night, or should I be concerned? Sorry, FTM and I often have anxiety.
TIA!
Re: From 2-3 hours to 5?
I guess I thought it'd be a more gradual thing. Like more 3 hour stretches, then 4 hours, etc... I'm probably more on edge with her feeding because for the first month we had to focus so much energy on her gaining weight and eating (born at 4.12). I need to remind myself that she's been gaining weight just fine.
@soap1 yeah my pedi told me to do that. Lo was iugr so that's why.
Ah, I see. That makes sense! You're so close, I'm sure it'll go quick for you.
My pedi had me waking her during the day every two hours and every three hours at night. But I never actually needed the alarm at night because she would/will always wake up on her own before the alarm. She never actually told me when to stop, but I just did after 4 week appt when her weight gain was so good. But now that I think about it, her adjusted age one month would be today.
