FUCK.
It's a fungal infection. Which is a threat to his line.
We'll be on 3 days of antibiotics, and 14 days of antifungal, which means a much closer relationship with Ivy for the next two weeks. And if his labs aren't clear by Friday we may have to go back to the OR for a new line again.
-------------------------------------------
We won't have any word on the cultures until tomorrow. But based on his temps (high of 103 today) and how terrible he seems to feel, Dr. Gut wants to get some antibiotics in him. Our pharmacy can't get them to us this late, so we're taking a bedtime jaunt to the ER for the first dose - but we should be coming right back home and getting the rest of the doses delivered in the morning.
Ugh. I want my happy baby back.
ETA: Dammit! We were only 2 days away from a PR. Reset the ticker, guys. ::Sigh::
-----------------------
Labs drawn and en route. We should know this afternoon if the cultures are positive. If they are, it's up to his doc if we can treat at home or have to be admitted.
---------------------------
As long as our pharmacy can send someone to the house today, we'll be drawing labs in our living room and staying put. ::partyhatsmiley::
He's back down to around 100, but now he won't eat

----------------------------
I'm not calling until morning unless he gets to 101. I don't know if I can do another 3 nights in the hospital over nothing again.
I HATE THIS.
And I hate it that when I tell my crying baby that he's just fine, I can't know for sure I'm not lying to him.

FX! Hope the rest of the night is good.
Thanks for all the hugs, J13. I'll be calling in about an hour. Hoping for the best, but I'm afraid she may want us to go in again. At the very least, antibiotic-induced diarrhea is likely headed our way.
