  • If you have HR I'd go straight there or if you are able go ahead and quit now. I seem to remember you saying you were not going to work outside the home once baby was born. Could you go ahead and make that a reality now?

  • I am horrified that this is happening to you. I surely hope HR will take this seriously.

  • I know he seems like a really unreasonable guy who is either completely dense or doesn't care, but I can't remember whether you have actually sat down with him yet in a private meeting (does one of you have an office where you can close the door?) to tell him that you find his comments offensive.

Can you schedule a meeting and have HR dial in to the call, and have you express your concerns at that time?  You could talk to HR beforehand to see if they think this is a good idea or not.

You still have a few months until you're leaving, so I think it would be a good idea if someone told him that his comments need to stop immediately.  Whether that someone is you (with HR on the phone) or HR directly, I think he needs to hear it.  He sounds too dense to realize this on his own.

I'm sorry he is such an absolute douche. :(

Absolute GENIUS. I am so buying that, maybe a few actually when they come back in stock. Holy crap, that is awesome!
Yeeeah I realized after the fact that they're out of stock :(  Go for an annoy-a-tron as well- I planted one of these in a former boss' office a few years back and he tore shit APART trying to find it.

Good call @Skeemer, signing people up for annoying mail is fun.  Tempurpedic is particularly annoying.  Also (sorry to any religious folk) send the Mormons and Jehovahs to his door to hand-deliver a Bible!

I'm adding Tempurpedic to my personal arsenal list now. :D

Car lots also have email forms so they can contact you about your interest in a car.

  • @Skeemer & @aliletz Ok, remind me never to cross you girls!

I love Thinkgeek, have made many purchases from there over the years.  I have the annoy-a-tron and it was so much fun back when I was in grad school (I used it so much it stopped working)!  I bought the air cannon and gave it to my sister, she uses it to keep her cats off the kitchen table (a spray bottle of water was no longer working) and to annoy her DH from time to time.

  • @skeemer I am dumbfounded at your expertise in such matters. I freaking love it! Thank you so much for the ideas, the mail thing is kind of hilarious actually.

We got a random advert once from a medical equipment company that sold cushions/pillows etc. to aid disabled people with their sex life and he threw it on my desk and told me to familiarize myself with the items. I am not in sales, I'm the administrator so it was his idea of being funny. Dick.
Lol, happy to help. My supervisor also thinks he is hilarious & is almost always a tool. So from one sickened employee to another... I hope to God you do everything on that list & more.

  • The first thing that came to mind was put an awesome dent in his car and say I didn't get much sleep last night but found something else to punch....

Though I quickly realized this could ensue legal things you don't want to deal with lol. I guess I just had the instinct to punch-a-size something from his comment.

Anywho, tell HR and get it on the books. Then Bump like hell until the day you can leave that douchebag behind :D

  • What a douche. I hope HR takes you complaint seriously. There's no way he can get away with those comments. I want to punch him for you.

File a formal complaint with his manager as well as HR. Firing him will be much easier with evidence on file.

I wouldn't do anything at his level (even though it would feel awesome) because HR is much less likely to take your complaint seriously then. Be completely professional and let him look like the asshole he is. He'll do himself in.

I would say it depends on how upset it makes you. Does it piss you off like a big brother could piss you off, or were you absolutely disgusted and offended? I'm asking because it's hard to know how to guide you without knowing your established dynamic.
I get the impression you were completely offended, and in that case, I'd file a formal complaint with HR. As an HR rep, I can tell you though that as soon as you take it upon yourself to seek revenge, it really complicates your case. In retaliation, he would be quick to report anything you do---guaranteed.
It's not worth it to risk losing any potential payouts when you leave, or a positive reference check when you get back into the workforce at some point, nawmsayin?
But the deep down inside part of me wants you to make him The Help's chocolate pie recipe ;)
    Keep us posted, litera.

My boss told people when I was pregnant with DS2 that I would call & check on the office & offer help while I was on maternity leave. His world was rocked when I didn't call for the entire leave. I had already offered to work from home one day a week in exchange for comp time & he refused. I'm honestly surprised our office wasn't burned to the ground by the time I got back.

  • I'd be slipping all kinds of laxatives and stuff in his drinks and food.

But no seriously....that guy deserves multiple kicks in the crotch.

    Hm, do both. :)
  • Look up haribo sugar free gummy bears on amazon. Give them to him as a nice "gesture" read the reviews you'll know why it's getting back at him. And make sure you tell him eat a lot!
