Team BLUE!!!

Benjamin Luke was born on Thursday, February 27th at 2:46 am. He was 8 lb 6 oz and 20.5 inches long.

Contractions started at 10:57 pm on Wednesday - they felt like low strong menstral cramps at the beginning. With each contraction, the pain started going higher up my belly.

My neighbor took me to the hospital while DH waited for his parents to arrive since DD was asleep. When they checked me around midnight, I was already at 6 cm. I got my antibiotics around 1:00 am and was told they were not going to help labor along (my water was bulging at this point) because they needed to wait 4 hours for the antibiotics to fully kick in.

I requested an epidural and received it after the antibiotics. It had what is called a window...where parts of you didn't get the memo to go numb. So I felt every contraction in the middle of my stomach - around my belly button. It was horrible. I wanted to leave the pain was so intense.

The doctor came in after I told the nurses they needed to get the baby out now - I didn't care how, just get the baby out. He assessed the situation (and my cries for help) and went ahead and broke my water around 2:30 am. As he checked me then, he said I was ready to push at the next contraction. I was mad that he wasn't dressed yet to deliver my baby...but he quickly got dressed after just two pushes...after my third contraction, he told me we would be having a baby next set of pushes. And we did!!!

They showed me the baby and I cried tears of joy seeing we had a BOY and they laid him on my chest. What love. Ben is a very laid back little guy and DD is adjusting, but doing better than I expected!
