I'm late on this, but can I say that almost all of OP's crazy spellings for Ronan look like speshul snowflake versions of Rhiannon to me? When I was first glancing over it, that's really what I thought she might be trying to spell. Good luck with that, OP.

Ronan for sure. The other spellings just make you/the parents look a bit on the uneducated side. I'm not saying this is true, I'm just saying what it looks like.
OP: I feel for you. It really sucks to have a name you love be ruined by someone else. There must be some really strong feelings in your family toward your grandfather. I agree that all of the alternate spellings look a little odd. From your choices, I think Roanin is the one that makes the pronunciation the most obvious. That's the best option, in my opinion, if your biggest concern (after removing "Ron" from the name) is correct pronunciation. But I'm not really a fan of how it looks. I think I prefer Rhonan over the others. But I do love the suggestion of using Rowan. Very similar name, but you don't have to worry about the negative association at all.
I'm late to the party, but DS's name is Ronan and nobody has ever tried to call him "Ron-an" or "Ron". Just spell it the right way and correct your family if they mispronounce it.
