I don't think people should take 25 minute showers at the gym. It is rude for people that are waiting for a shower. Like what are people doing for 25 minutes? I also don't think people should take 25 minute showers in general, it is bad for the environment.
I would rather my kids smoke pot every once in while when they are older than start smoking. I've watching smoking be way too hard to quit and I have a recovered drug addict sister who says it is harder than heroin to stop doing. I just don't get why pot is such a big deal as it's effects are so much less than cigarettes and even alcohol.
ETA: effects vs affects. I'm totally high right now. Plus I wanted to add I would rather my kids did nothing dangerous obviously!
I hate that they are legalizing pot because I'm wiling to bet in 20 years they will discover it is terrible for your health and causes cancer.
Probably not. It's been around for a long time with no greater correlation to cancer than cigarettes. Also cigarettes and alcohol are undisputedly terrible for your health but they are legal. It should be a person's choice if they are willing to risk their health across the board, not just arbitrarily for whoever has the best lobbyists.
I think bed sharing is stupidly dangerous and it boggles my mind how popular of a practice it is.
It's only dangerous if you're stupid. Be smart and use common sense and it isn't dangerous. We've been co sleeping for a while now and it is the best thing for us. We take the precautions needed in order for it to be safe for our LO.

Sad. A was an amazing sleeper in her own bassinet/ high PnP setting. She's been in our bed since Thanksgiving (because she hates the bottom setting on the PnP, and I'm not ready for her to leave our room), because she won't sleep otherwise at home. It's not for everyone, but we are careful, and all three of us are well rested in the morning.
Cool however...Our girls have the same name.
Our lil' diva: late like her Momma: 40 weeks 5 days!

They've already proved marijuana is carcinogenic. Do you really think they will make all things "cancer causing" illegal? Obesity, deodorant, too much sun, too little sun, sunscreen, too much wine, hot dogs, X-rays, cell phones, sweetener, moisturizers, sulfate shampoos, hair dye, birth control, barbecuing, BACON... Need I continue?
You forgot about genetics! Those predisposed shouldn't be able to reproduce along that train of thought
Pot smoking strikes me as one of those rebellious things you do in your teens. I can't see the point as an adult. But, this is coming from the girl who's never done it and never wanted to. So, maybe that's just me.
I don't understand why people feel the need to say what their vote was after they vote on a clicky poll. It is a clicky poll for a reason. We don't need to know what you voted. Especially if you are just saying nope and not a special snow flake.

totally agree with @calikat80 here. There are even arguments that fatty foods and processed sugar is worse for you than pot. Govt cannot ban everything that is bad for you, sometimes you just have to make a decision for your own body and balance your vices against your health. I know and fully understand the risks and I still choose to drink and I still choose to eat unhealthy occasionally that are bad for my heart health. I am trying to live well and enjoy life, not till I am 100 years old.
I think bed sharing is stupidly dangerous and it boggles my mind how popular of a practice it is.
Well aren't you just a little ray of sunshine? Crib sleeping can be dangerous too if done incorrectly, you need to be diligent about sleeping safety no matter where your baby sleeps.
I think making pot legal is perfectly fine. Colorado is raking in the tax revenue and it is no worse than gambling, tobacco, and alcohol.
Exactly. Tax the shizz out of it. The efforts to stop it aren't working and are wasting tax payer dollars. There are so many better ways I'd rather my tax dollars be spent.
Also, I'm perfectly fine with people smoking pot. I was surprised when I first got in the work force how many older professionals smoke pot but it is great stress relief and I don't find it any worse than going out and getting drunk. I don't do it anymore because it made my husband uncomfortable and I wouldn't want it around Alyssa anyways.

Now I sound like a big pot supporter but here it goes; I think pot is better than alcohol. No hangover, no calories(as long as you don't succumb to your munchies) and it relaxes you rather than making you hyper like some sugar high calorie alcohol can do.
If I lived in one of the states that legalized pot, I would partake once I am done breastfeeding. I would use it like I do beer or wine where I have a glass after Colton goes to bed to unwind from the day of work and motherhood.
I don't understand people who get so worked up about pot becoming legal. If you don't like it don't smoke it, and don't allow it in your home. I think these people are probably very naive as to how many people (and people you wouldn't suspect at all) actually smoke pot. Not everyone who smokes pot lives out the movie half baked day in and day out. I can't say for sure, as it's not yet legal where I live, but I can't imagine when it does happen my life would be plunged into a Jay and Silent Bob movie.
Oh, and I don't smoke. I used to a lot when I was in college, but just grew out of it I guess. I definitely wouldn't with a baby.
Disclaimer: I've never smoked pot so I'm going to come off as ignorant and I hope you forgive that
Is there such thing as a contact high? Because to me that's the difference. My lo won't get drunk if I have a beer after she goes to bed. Can she get high from the smoke if I light up a joint after she goes to bed? (If the answer is no, then disregard).
Additionally my issue with "pot is like/better than alcohol" is that most people don't imbibe before they go to work. In my limited experience, the adults I've worked with who smoked pot did so at all times of the day. So first thing in the morning and then head to work? I wouldn't drink a beer with my breakfast and then go to work. Obviously not everyone who smokes pot does it all times of day.
With any substance, there are heavy users and there are recreational users. If you have a glass of wine with your meal at night, no one bats an eye, but if you drink before you go to work or all day long, you have a problem. Same goes for pot or even McDonalds. Not every pot users are all day pot smokers with tie dye t shirts that don't shower. I know a lot of professionals that are clean cut, in suits at work, and choose to partake in pot instead of drinking on weekend nights.
You shouldn't be allowed to have exotic animals as pets. There is no reason you need a tiger or a bear as a pet.
Don't tell that to my 2 year old...
Can't you have one in FL? They allow all the crazy stuff.
haha probably. Bradley's latest obsession is a giraffe and we are going to his best friend's birthday this weekend and he keeps saying he wants to get him a giraffe..."a giraffe stuffed animal?" "no, mommy, zoo giraffe"...
My husband would SO rather I smoke a joint than have wine. You catch me at the wrong time after some Malbec there is no winning. Lots of cursing and tears. College calikat80 after a joint was the most laid back girlfriend ever. I haven't smoked in over 10 years but I'm pretty sure I'd still be more happy and relaxed with that than wine. I would never allow it in my house though. And I would never think of smoking during the day or before work or something. Even in college it was an evening thing like instead of beer or wine. Also it affects everyone differently so it's all about knowing yourself and your body.
I don't understand the comparison of marijuana vs. alcohol. They are not even remotely the same thing. Alcohol is vastly more addictive, impairing, destructive, dangerous, and bad for your health. Yet it is generally accepted everywhere. Marijuana makes sex, food, music, nature, etc. more pleasurable, there are no bad come-downs or side effects or addictive qualities (that we currently know of aside from the effects of smoke inhalation). Yet it's seen as a "gateway drug" so it's illegal and "bad". I see cigarettes and alcohol as the gateway to addiction, not marijuana.
I am one who never even touched marijuana until I was 23. It should definitely be considered an "adult" (over 21) substance. I stopped smoking it before I was pregnant and don't know when/if I will again, but I would much rather take a hit off of a vaporizer before bed/to unwind than have a drink any day of the week.
I think my only problem with pot being legal is that now there is pressure on me to allow it in my house.
Also is it worth losing a job over? Employers can still screen you for it even if it is legal in your state
Why would you have to allow it in your house? Smoking cigarettes is legal and it's not allowed in my home or near my baby.
People shouldn't smoke pot in the house around children, legal or not. Just like people shouldn't smoke cigarettes in the house around children. Our province has made it illegal to smoke in a car with a child under 16.
I think the processed foods should be taxed higher and there should be a discount on whole and natural foods. I think that it is really difficult for a single mom with children to buy her family healthy food. When she can get kraft dinner and canned corn for under a dollar and making a salad or stirfry would cost her upwords of $10. It is a hard and unfair choice.

I feel it's almost as bad for your lungs as cigarettes are.

It may be, but it's not addictive. Also you don't smoke a pack a day of joints, it's far more recreational than a total lifestyle change. I'm basically saying our kids are going to make some bad choices experimenting with stuff when they are older. I would rather they experiment with something that didn't get them hooked for life because of a bad choice in their teenage years.
