TMI ! How do you plan on ....landscaping ? ;)

I dont think this has been brought up yet but Im seriously wondering what all of us plan on doing in the neither regions when our bellies are too big to SEE down there LOL.
Im only 22 weeks and I can hardly hardly manage to navigate a razor down there. Last PG I didnt have this problem until like 35 weeks and then I had my c sec so it never became a problem.
DH was laughing in the shower the other day and offered to help but I think Id rather him NOT ! LOL

Waxing ?? Shaving?? Au Natural ?? Whats your plan ?

  • It's already getting harder for me to shave shave, but I do plan to try to at least trim, which I can probably do just by feel.  We'll see how it goes though...
  • LOL Dont get me wrong ladies, theres nothing wrong with Au Natural ! In fact, Im not sure spending $70 on a Brazilian wax just for my Dr is top on my list these days ;) I will try to keep things tidy but I think I give up on perfecting the whole shebang down there ;)

  • I'm 25w 5d and I'm pretty sure that yesterday was the last time I'll be landscaping until delivery. It took way to long and was way to hard. In the plus side my legs got shaved for the first time this winter ;)
  • I too have just been doing it blindly and its been working out okay.  Hope to continue this throughout.  I will not let DH get near me with a razor!  Yikes!

  • I go down there blind lol. I cant see anymore unless its a shower first thing in the morning where my bump seems  smaller but if I take my shower at night (which is what I normally do) I just take the razor and hope it looks ok. My DH thinks its so funny.

  • I am contemplating getting a bikini wax (first time ever- my friend knows some place that does first timers for free).  I too tend to focus more on bikini lines than anything, but it is almost impossible these days!

  • I think I trimmed a little throughout my entire last pregnancy, but I can't remember for sure. Once if was in labor, pubic hair was the last thing on my mind. This time I've trimmed once or twice, but I don't shower alone often and I really just don't care. H doesn't mind so I'm not going to bother straining myself haha.
  • Honestly, I'm not big on landscaping down there even when I'm not PG. only once in a while mostly for DH's benefit. I'm even less inclined to landscape when I'm PG and it gets difficult. So you can count me in the au naturale group.

Plus, I can't think of anything LESS fun than recovering from birth with red itchy irritated bumps all over that area... No thanks!

What I am going to do is ask DH to help me trim the hair short using scissors. I didn't do this last time and having all the postpartum yuck matted in my hair was pretty gross and uncomfortable.

    BFP#2:  EDD 2/11/14, MMC confirmed 7/15/13 (growth stopped at 6 weeks), D&C @ 12 weeks 7/25/13

  • Mine gets a blind trimming here and there but that's about it. Long hair don't care!
  • This content has been removed.
  • Trim it up if it's getting too unruly in length, and go blindly at the bikini line so it isn't sticking out of my undies/bathing suit bottoms.

I used to be crazy about keeping it clean shaven down there because "thats what guy's like" but DH hates it shaved so I went natural and never looked back. It's nice to not have to plan shaving time into my showers (aside from legs, which is pretty quick for me) and to not have stubble/growth itchiness.

I'm not concerne about doctors or nurses, they have seen it all before.

  • I read a blog post recently by a woman who insists that getting a Brazilian the week you are due "is the single most important thing you can do to prepare for labor." Seriously? That sounds like torture. But really, if any of you are planning this, more power to you. You're more woman than I am!

I have one of those razors with the trimmer on one end. I haven't done anything but keep things tidy since I got pregnant. I'll cross that bridge once I can see my lady bits again in a few months!

  • I can't really see it anymore. I don't shave everything anyways, just trim and keep it short and neat. I have been just feeling it out and going blindly, slowly. Its working out fine. I would NOT let DH use a razor on me down there, no way! Honestly, the doctors and nurses have seen it all. Thats not going to be one of my worries when I'm in labor.

  • I get it waxed every 6 weeks anyway.  I plan to try to time it so it's freshly done around my due date, but I'm not going to worry if it's not or baby comes early.

Personally, I would never trim or shave any area I couldn't see, but especially not a super sensitive one!

  • Once it gets to the point that I can no longer see down there, I just shave from feel and memory. I have yet to ever cut myself (knock on wood), and hopefully I won't this pregnancy either. With DD#2, I was getting waxed for a while, but my skin got too sensitive to continue.

  • I am normally one to just get rid of it all. Not being able to see well anymore, I grew it out this past month (OMG this was torturous for me!) and then went and had a wax. I did something in between a bikini and Brazilian wax but what was left is getting trimmed by my husband because it's driving me nuts. My husband doesn't care either way but he knows I'm uncomfortable and has offered to help because of that.

  • Keeping it neat and clean as best as I can. I don't wax my bikini area normally, so I'm not resorting to that. Kudos for those that let their DH's do it..I'm totally all set with that as well.

Last time I shaved myself. It wasn't that hard to do. I was thankful I kept up with it. Having 14 stitches down there after delivery not to mention the pretty heavy bleeding..I was just glad I took the extra effort to tidy up down there..I felt like it made it a little easier for all the pp stuff

  • This is so not even on the top 10 things I am concerned about with this pregnancy...But, I hate hair anywhere, and I keep it trim. I will continue to trim, even blindly, because I find it uncomfortable. I don't care if DH likes it, or if a medical professional cares (which they don't, considering that most of the population does not go bare). I really don't think a first time waxer should try it out before labor though. Waxing HURTS. BAD. And it hurts a lot more during your period and pregnancy, because everything is swollen or extra sensitive. Dealing with itchiness while I'm recovering from childbirth and The Shining style bleeding seems like a total nightmare.

I continued vag-scaping til the day of my induction. It was kind of like yoga at the end, but I wouldn't be able to deal with a full-on bush.
I showered and shaved right before we left for the hospital; like, between contractions.  First time mom paranoia or something (I don't see this happening this time around).  I do remember the nurses commenting as they prepped me for my c-section that "You probably won't have to shave this one."  So at least there's that...

  • Keeping it trimmed for my bikini bottom b/c I plan on swimming until I give birth and the people at the pool don't need to see my pubes, but no trimming aside from that AT ALL. I'll do the bikini line by feel. It was tough, but I remember being able to do it til the end last time.
  • Bikini waxes, every 6-10 weeks per usual. No brazilian for me, I have nothing against the hair. One of my jobs is a "plus fit model" and I couldn't have hair showing around the bikini line as I was often in underwear/swimsuits/whatever in front of clients. That job is obviously on hold right now, but I'm used to the process.

  • I've pretty much given up.  It's getting really hard to do anything more than just some razor hacking, as others have said.  I'll continue that a bit, as my hair grows pretty fast and gets uncomfortable for me, but toward the end, it's a hairy mess down there and I can accept that!  :)
  • I have a cosmetologist friend who does bikini waxing and Brazilians and laughs all the time about clients that think they can go through their whole pregnancy and continue their waxing schedule.  She says she's had 2 clients in her years who have been able to handle the pain in that sensitive region past 6 months.  To me, it sounds horribly painful!
  • It may be generational but I'm just not a fan (on myself). I am shaving my 60% sight and 40% memory every couple days. It's not perfect but it works enough. I've read that shower shaving mirrors are quite helpful.

  • I use a little mustache trimmer and can essentially do that without looking.  I do not shave my bikini line unless I'm actually planning to wear a bikini, which I'm not right now.  I trim because it feels more comfortable for me shorter, but when it gets to where the belly is too big to reach around, I just let it go.

  • It must be my generation, but sometimes I feel like a failure for never getting a wax done. I'm so relieved to see that many of you don't care! Right now I trim what I can with an electric bikini razor, and don't plan on using anything else.

  • I wish I had the guts to go get waxed but I'm too afraid to do it!! I've definitely slacked with shaving and usually end up doing it cuz it gets so itchy when it starts getting too long. My DH could care less but I don't think I'd let him help!! I've been shaving by feel and memory, but clearly that's not working so good cuz I cut myself the other day to the point where I had to out a band aid on it!!! :( Next time I'm gonna try using a mirror, hopefully that helps!
  • I've been getting a Brazilian wax every 4-5 weeks for about 10 years. I do it because *i* want to, not bc of what a dr or my husband think. I am just way hairy (tmi) and feel gross when I don't do it. With my son I continued throughout my pregnancy and got waxed a few days before I went into labor. I'm also still getting waxed every 4-5 weeks now. Maybe I'm just used to it but I don't think it hurts that much more now. That being said, I prob wouldn't recommend getting waxed now if you've never done it before.

  • Hahahaha! This thread is so great  :)) I was actually just thinking the other day of starting a group discussion on the board but chickened out! As much as I think its 100% a-ok to go au naturale (and support all the ladies that plan on that) its just not for me. I will probably get a little shaving mirror for the shower soon, I can still navigate blindly now, but not for long. Once it gets to that point Ill go for a wax.  Ive never waxed before, but my SIL has a great lady she goes to regularly and says it lasts about 5 weeks.  So maybe have to get it done twice? Not too shabby... pun intended :)

  • I haven't been maintaining really since 15 weeks or so.. I can't see it anyway. Might get it taken care of by a professional when it gets closer to EDD since the entire world will be staring at it.

I'm already past the point of being able to see down there.  I've tried to just let it grow but once it gets to a certain point, it becomes really uncomfortable for me for some
reason.  So I've just been hacking
away blindly in the shower.  I'm sure it
looks spectacular, but at least it's getting the
job done enough that it's not bothersome.

I too have been blindly hacking away....I am sure I look like I have mange, especially now from H'S reaction the other night! I asked him to do it for me & he said go will. I think it's uncomfortable to have it out of control down there.

  • I'm a Brazilian type girl. I'll keep it up until I can't it anymore. I was already considering switching to just a bikini wax, but I'm the last time I went in I couldn't take all the excess hair.

The interesting part of your post was about stomach hair. While I usually only wax from the bikini line down, my belly is looking extra hairy. I'm not sure if it's my imagination or the taut skin, but it's not cute. Either way, I'm not waxing or shaving my belly.

  • I hate pubic hair... The last couple months of my first pregnancy I just kinda gave up. But this time around I really want to TRY to keep up with the grooming. Especially since I've been extra sensitive down there and if I go more than a couple weeks without shaving, it gets so itchy and uncomfortable! I'll probably just try to get a good clean shave without looking lol DH has offered to help, but I'm scared to let him!

I bought a legit men's beard trimmer years ago and just use the shortest option to trim everything up. I think it's weird (for me, no judging) to be totally bald but like to keep it buzzed. That tool is awesome for going at it blindly because you can't really cut yourself. I found it to be a great alternative to scissors which makes things uneven and shaving which besides feeling weird is just itchy and uncomfortable.

I basically do this but with a cheaper version: https://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod3190013 I don't like to trim too short, just enough to keep things tidy. I can't stand stubble down there so would rather keep it a little longer. I've had a few waxes in the past too, trying to thin the hair out but it never seems to help much.
