Breech baby at 30.5 weeks

My OB said baby is breech at the moment - should I be worried yet? Some things I've read say there is plenty of time, which I agree with, but I also know the longer it stays breech the harder it is for it to turn. Thoughts/past experiences?

Re: Breech baby at 30.5 weeks

  • It is too early to worry.

DS flipped at 34w. I have heard of babies flipping clear up to delivery.

  • My doctor guessed mine is breech and ordered an ultrasound in two weeks to see. I am not worried quite yet because he said most babies flip still. But if baby is still breech by the ultrasound I'll be upset.

  • My doctor said they start paying attention to the baby's position at 34 weeks, but the baby can flip anytime up until delivery.

  • I'm 30 wks too and little one is breech. I'm not worried. Have another US at 34 weeks
  • I'm 28 weeks tomorrow and had an ultrasound yesterday to check growth. My little one is breech but I'm not worried yet. I know she can still turn based on where I can feel movement.
  • FTM so this may be a dumb question, but how did he know baby was breach? AS was the last ultrasound for me, and according to my OB I don't get another one unless something is wrong. I've been wondering if baby is breach, how would I know, and what can I do about it?

    The reliable way is u/s.

As baby gets bigger it is sometimes possible to tell by finding a head/butt or by noting where you feel movement and hiccups.

Im a FTM too but my doctor tried to feel for the head at my last appointment. So I'm assuming that's how they know if you aren't scheduled for an ultrasound?
  • Totally too early to worry! Baby still have plenty of time to flip.
My doctor will do an u/s at 36 weeks to see what position she's in. Until then she isn't worried.

  • Agree with PP, too early to worry at this point. A friend of mine's baby was breech until 39 weeks and still managed to flip around in time!
  • My first flipped twice between 32 weeks and 37 weeks!

  • Still too early, my doc said he isn't worried about it until after 34 weeks. DD2 was breech until 36 weeks.

  • Anytime before 34 weeks is too early to worry. Even then I wouldn't panic. Babies can flip several times a day, even up till delivery.

  • No worries! Like all pps said the baby can move up to delivery and I was told by my midwives they don't really start to worry about position until about 35 weeks.

Friend of mines baby was laying transverse and would not move...she felt tons of movement one day around 38-39 w and boom baby was head down when they ultrasound to make sure! So babies for sure can move around in there.
