June 2014 Moms

Newbie...

I am a FTM, expecting our baby girl in mid june. I have stalked the boards for awhile and comment every now and then. I honestly have no clue how to do the tickers, or understand the threads.. It's all a little over my head. I am mainly on here for advice, experience, and just over all curiosity.

I have had a great pregnancy so far, my worst symptoms have been heartburn/acid reflux and BP issues. I am considered High Risk due to Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia but everything has been wonderful so far, even the docs are shocked.  We are seeing multiple docs to make sure little miss doesn't have her mommy's brain or spine, after 2 separate ultrasounds, so far so good. We have one more next month. We also should find out soon about how to delivery. I am not allowed to push so I have two options.. c-section or an assisted birth with epidural.. Honestly, I just wish I could blink and have her in my arms! So.. that's a little about my knocked up self so far..

Just thought I would say Hi... so, Hi.

  • From what I understand.. they will give me an epidural and literally numb every inch from my boobs down and then they will let me "labor down" which my mom, the RN, says prety much the baby will do the work, then when she is in the birth canal, they will assist her out with the vacuum.. forceps is another way but I put my foot down on that one. I am not really comfortable with the vacuum either but that said it was the safest option. I am more comfortable with c-section.. they are hesitant because it is a "major" surgery.. but after brain surgery, it doesn't seem to bad to me.. If the anesthesiologist refuses to do the epidural due to my cyst in my spine, then I have to be put down for a c section.. not my favorite option either.
  • Welcome - I don't know much about the conditions you mentioned, but I'm glad to hear the baby is doing well so far!  Are your doctors recommending one delivery over another?  I'm going in for a repeat c-section this time, and I had a pretty decent recovery the first time - it's definitely not a bad option.  Good luck - looking forward to getting to know you.
