I really like that name! I wish I would have come up with Bostyn... It is unique without being totally off the wall. I think it has like a Victorian Era feel to it.
The names we've picked out are even more strange to some people but who cares what other people think! Girls name can be a little bit more creative. I bet she would be the only girl with that name, ya know? That's special.
i dislike creative spellings for names - esp when they add in a Y - sorry.
you'll find tons of "snots" here, too, unfortunately. But often, like with me- sometimes it's just an honest answer that you don't like.
name your kid what YOU like- don't worry about other people.
I agree. I think you got too many honest answers that you didnt like....and thats why your pouting about it. Sorry, not everyone loves the name, or the yn spelling you threw in there. Just get over it, and use it if you like it.
Oh, and PS...I am rarely snarky, nor snotty. My post on the baby names board could have been much more harsh. I simply said it sounded like a word, and reminded me of a dog. Next time I will remember to lie to you, and tell you exactly what you want to hear.

Im not "Pouting". You and your ridiculous comments need to get out of here. I really don't expect everyone to like the name, it's a name DH and I like, I was just getting a 2nd opinion. So, you are more than welcome to STFU.

Not a fan. Constructive criticism: If you're going to use Boston, I'd cut the "y." It comes across as cutesy and won't transition into adulthood well at all.
I am sorry people have been snotty towards you. I will be as nice as possible. I won't tell you not to name your child Boston. It's not a terrible name. But the y in place of the o is pretty terrible. I really feel that people (adults, teachers, etc) will mock her and laugh about it and I don't want that for her or you.
I love Emily and think it works great with Boston so you have a traditional mn to balance the nontraditional first name.

I need to "get out of here"?? Where exactly is "here"? LMFAO...guess I'll get off the computer now, since you and bostyn told me to leave. Either grow up sweetheart, or stop posting. You'll get eaten alive on 2nd and 3rd Tri if you can't even handle this post.
I'm not a fan of city names as the names for children. My cousin named her daughter Brooklyn. She's now 8 and gets made fun of a lot. Granted that 8 year olds aren't creative and they call her things like "Manhattan" but it still hurts her feelings.
That said, if you really like it then maybe a regular spelling of Boston would be better then the way you are choosing to spell it now.
Hehe! You ladies are so fun on the day after Christmas! Did you all
get pent up with snarkiness yesterday? Usually name posts don't get
this rowdy... especially this early!
Anyhow, I think the name
Bostyn is cute. And in the end, when you name your baby... it doesn't
really matter, so try not to let people's opinions upset you pre-baby!
We
didn't want to deal with it, so we are not sharing our names at all!
Good luck! And if you and DH agree on the name... go with it, b/c that
is the hardest part IMO!

Bostyn is unique but personally, I think it's a horrible name. ?The kid is going to have so many "what's your name??????" questions when she tells them, and adding "y's" where other letters should be is pretty lame, I think. ?Just stick with Emily, it's much better.

I don't like the y in Bostyn either, but PPs are right- nobody but you and DH has to love the name. But, if you don't want to receive "constructive criticism" on the names you like, don't post them on the Nest.
I figure our parents got to name us whatever the heck they wanted and their parents them, so name your kid what you want! DH's grannie said, "Ohhh...that's such an ugly name. I'm not sure I'll claim her as mine." She named her kids really stupid names, too, so she can suck it!
You need to look beyond when little Bostyn's in pigtails. Imagine her passing out her resume. I'm guessing by that point, she'll have changed it to make it look more professional, but save her the time. "Boston" for a girl is pretty trendy as it is- adding the "y" makes her seem forever five years old.
I like Boston for a boy. I like place names, like Brooklyn for a girl.
But I'm also agreeing with those who don't like the y in your spelling. It looks made-up and too trendy. I'm assuming you are trying to make the name a bit more feminine, but I really would stick to Boston for a boy instead of trying to make the name fit for a girl.
Just name your baby what you want to. We are naming our daughter Karsyn because we like it better than spelled Karson. It doesn't matter what other people think.

NMS, but only because I agree it's not really an "adult" name. It's cute for a little girl, but people will have a hard time taking her serious when she is an adult.
Also, I posted a name option on the baby names board and they were all helpful. If you are going to ask for opinions, you have to know not everyone is going to agree with you. If you can't handle someone disagreeing, don't ask for opinions.
You yourself put it out there and asked for opinions. You don't like the opinions so now people are "snots" and "hookers".
The bump isn't all puppies and rainbows. Get over yourself.
Agreed. If you are wanting validation on the name you have chosen, ask your friends or family or someone who will tell you what you want to hear. You aren't going to get that from a public message board.

Wood you? Wood too!
You know what, I kind of like it!
MH would never go for it, and we live near boston, so I dont think we could live it down... But I like it!
sorry people were beeyotchy!

Dont be a b!tch, Just say you dont like it or dont comment. You dont have to be a hooker about it.

i think you should name your child what you want.
but don't expect people to be gaga over it.
i personally think its ugly, but thats just me.

The name is ok, but the "y" is bad. She's going to have it spelled incorrectly by other people for the rest of her life.
Don't do that to your daughter.
Put your big girl panties on for goodness sake!
Personally I think Bostyn is horrid name but it's your child if you like it use it.

Woah, people weren't even mean to you, no need to get b!tchy at people for giving you opinons that are different than your own.
FWIW, the name is NMS but I agree with the suggestions to spell it "Boston", the y looks out of place and made up.
Here's what's up:

ditto ditto ditto
This post is cracking me up...
Hmmmm, I kinda like it but maybe more for a boy...
I also don't dig the unique spelling. Never been a fan of spelling names differently. JMO.
I live near Boston and like it spelled that way especially for a boy, not a big fan of it spelled with a y.
I also believe last week when you were blasting me you told me that this was a public board, people say what they want and if I didn't like it LEAVE.
Just saying.... what goes around comes around!
I like Boston for a boy. I like place names, like Brooklyn for a girl.

Wow. Now I see the b!tchy.
I don't think it is stupid, it is cute it is just not a name I would pick for my baby. But if you like it, that is what matters.
