Re: 2/24 March Shimmering Shamrocks Check-In!

  • Okay, I'll go first.  THURSDAY is my last day of BCPs.  I got my meds (aka BABY IN A BOX) this weekend.  Using Follistim this time instead of Gonal F- and wondering why they changed it.  Sunday we leave for NY and the stimming will begin.  I'm a total mix of nerves and excitement.

What would I bring?  Sunscreen and a bathing suit- I'm a super Irish girl and I HATE burning :-)

    IVF #1 Oct 2013- cancelled
IVF #2 Mar 2014- success.... baby girl born 11/28/14

  • Hi Shamrocks!

I had my February egg retreival over the weekend (23R, 11M, 10F) so now I just wait for AF to show up so we can start prepping for our March FET.  She should show up mid next week I think.  I'm very anxious to get started on a transfer!

QOTD:  Chocolate!  I don't think I could live without it but I'm not sure how practical it would be since it may melt.

  • I got my calender over the weekend and I start stims on the 18th. The only that's changed is my dosage. They are doing less follistim and menopur to hopefully have me stim a couple days longer than last time.

QOTD: a good book and my ipod and I would set to go!

  • I just got my calendar and my tentative ER is 4/1...I am wondering if that still makes me a Shimmering Shamrock!!!  In the past, I've been a quick responder, so I'm thinking that might get moved up.

Anyhow, I started my BCPs and will continue on them for 21 days. I have my baseline on 3/15.  Woohoo!

QOTW: FOOD!!! Also sunscreen and some books to read.  I'd want to bring my Kindle, but then I'd also have to bring a power supply!  :-)

QOTD:  My Dogs, the Harry Potter series (i suppose i would need a book I could read over and over), ipod, and some food, or food seeds!  If I had all of that and DH I would be happy to be left there forever!!

  • Hi Sham sisters!!
Oh well lets see whats new with me??!!... Nope I got nothing. lol Just taking BCP, and lots of Tylenol to help with the headaches. I've been unsually optimistic this cycle. Almost to a fault. Im nursery planning and I found these really awesome high chairs I want to get. I showed DH and he just looked at me like I had 3 heads. (what can I say, A girl has to fill her time with something.)

QOTD: The Bible...(not so I could be the religious nut) Honestly its the only book I can read over and over and get different revelations from. Plus it would be quite entertaining to hallucinate about all the different characters. Everything else would just get boring after a while.

@boyankl YAAAHHH, no more BCP! I love the "baby in box" term. I was on Gonal F my first IVF then this time they had me on Follistim (although I still got Gonal-F from the pharmacy). I was told by the pharmacy that perhaps my insurance didnt cover Follistim and the RE office perhaps the Pharmacy was out of Follistim so the sent Gonal. Thankfully they are used interchangeably. I went with the answer the Pharmacy gave.

    @O2girl Feel better hon!

@CallaLily30 Great numbers! Hope all goes well with your FET!

@SCSmith2011 Isnt it ironic how while TTC there are times we are desperate for AF to show up.

@Sandollar1010 welcome and good luck on your cycle

  • Hi ladies!! I had another E2 check yesterday, which was good. Lining check is on Friday - if that looks good, we will be all set to go for our FET on the 7th. Fingers crossed!

@O2girl Right there with you, Estrace makes me feel super gross too. My dosage just got increased to 3 x per day... fun fun!

QOTD: Sunscreen is a def here too. Bare Irish skin in the sun is no joke!

Day 7 of stims today. Ugh! Both ovaries were doing fine at my day 5 monitoring but today he started with my right ovary which apparently is a big fat looser ovary! lol Last cycle it had a cyst so pretty much knocked it out of the game. This time no cyst but the follicles that are developing (I think he said like 7 or something?) are all very small for this far along, all between a 7 & an 8. Left ovary is doing good though with about 9 follicles that are on track at between 11 or 12.

Does that sound right to anyone? Or is he just being a cheerleader? My RE does that almost to a fault.

On my 5 day appointment they told me I will most likely be staying on max stims right through the end of stimming, they had planned on me pulling back by at least 1 vial of menopur a day starting day 5 evening. So gross, had to buy even more drugs (100% OOP for procedure & drugs). Thank god for Walgreens and their fast mailing times at no extra cost!

Thank you so much for this check in, feel so good to be able to put this in writing where people understand! My husband asked me over the weekend which ovary they were going to implant an embryo in? HUH!?!?

I have only 1 fallopian tube left, it was closed before during surgery and they reopened but they said they expected it to reclose & result in an ectopic if it did stay open & I got pregnant through it. So turns out the side of the good ovary is where I have no fallopian tube & the crappy ovary has the crappy tube. So taking that into account & the inability of my eggs to fertilized in a dish surrounded with sperm here is my glass half full moment: when I am done with all this and family complete I will never ever ever have to worry about birth control ever again & will have unprotected sex all.the.time! Take that fertiles of the world! lol (ignoring the reality that our sex life is practically not existent since dealing with all this, seeing some counseling on that in our future when everything infertility is resolved!)

QOTF: chocolate, cause once you have chocolate what else do you truly need??? ;-)

PS if anyone could tell me how to put in paragrahps that would be appreciated. Also how to stop the link in my siggy being a link rather than a picture. (edit, have learned about paragraphs! wohoo! still no joy on the siggy though :-( )

    PPS, sorry for the essay!!!!

  • Today is day 4 of stims!  My estrogen rose to ~330 (they said that is good).  They decreased my Gonal F dosage to 150 and I'm adding in menopur (hate that stuff), only 75 units.  Keeping steady with 10 units of lupron.  What is weird is that they don't have me scheduled for an U/S until Friday (day 8 of stims).  This is IVF#2 for me with a different clinic and I would think that they would want to see what is going on inside.  It is important for me #1 not to overstim and #2 to get a fresh transfer due to lining issues (can't seem to build it up for FET's) and my doctor knows this.

QOTD: Definitely my dog, a few good books, swimsuit and some fruity drinks :)

Good luck to all the Shamrocks getting ready to cycle and who are stimming right now :). It's almost our month!!

  • Hi all!  Sounds like there is some awesome progress being made by those into stims, and for those of us getting ready- I hope things are looking good!

I have my ovulation check on Weds, and will start lupron and estrace at that point.  Like PP's, I am not a fan of estrace, lol. I wish I could take it orally- I wonder why some RE's order it taken orally and some order it take vaginally.

QOTW-  If it were a situation where I didn't anticipate rescue for a while, I would take my survival kit: a machete, a small multi-tool, a LifeStraw, a metal folding cup, a magnesium flint striker, a butane lighter, cotton balls, vaseline, paracord, 2 large black garbage bags, a solar blanket, protein bars, a flashlight and a compass.    I've thought about a zompocalypse more that I'm willing to admit, and definitely have a space in the basement dedicated to bug out bags and other survival gear!

  • Hello Shamrocks!

Had my baseline eval this morning and it went okay. I still have a cyst on my left ovary but the Dr. isn't worried (I posted a whole thread about it so I won't go into it here, but I am definitely anxious about it and if anyone has any words of insight I'd appreciate it!).

Good news was that my hormone levels all came back fine and in line so based on that we are good to move forward with stimming starting on Thu.  I'll be doing 300iui gonal F in the morning and another 150 gonal F + 150 menopur in the evenings.  My first monitoring after that will be Sunday.

Good luck all!  Rooting for all of you!!

    ***All always welcome!!***

  • Hey all! Had ER today. Only had 3. Will be waiting for the fert report tomorrow. Not feeling very optimistic. If they were viable, will be in for the transfer on Thursday! Prayers needed! :)

QOTD- I'd like to say I'd take something practical like survival supplies, but I'd most likely take a hammock, stack of books and my iPod & solar charger! If DH was there with me anyway, he's always been more practical than me, and he'll have the rest taken care of!
  • Hi everyone! Finished estrace 6 days ago, still waiting on AF to fully hit, but currently spotting. Neg hpt so RE says its okay to start stim meds today.. I'll be on both Gonal F and Menopur. F/u appt on Thurs 2/27.

  • Hi Shammies!

Had kind of a terrible day.  Somehow for my Friday estradiol I managed to have my sister inject something else....we're not entirely sure what as my FET box o'drugs got mixed up with my fresh cycle box when I went digging around for my leftover PIO to use this cycle.  We think it might have been HCG.  EEK!!!

So far the doc and nurses think the amount is small enough that it shouldn't have too much impact, but they are not sure as they haven't had anybody make this particularly ridiculous mess-up before.  Yes, I'm that girl.  Then they tried to do bloodwork to check my levels and couldn't get blood from anyplace today.  Going back tomorrow to try again.  Hopefully E2 is not totally tanked.

I'm so nervous that I messed this up irretrievably.  I hope not, but it's hard not to beat myself up. We've been waiting since December when we started our fresh cycle that turned into a freeze all.  Just when I thought we were practically there....UGH.  I guess we will find out tomorrow.

QOTD:  Books definitely!  I just get so immersed in them, it doesn't matter where I am or what I'm doing.  I'd probably be happy to have the peace and quiet of a stranding to finally read all the books I want!!

Hello Shammies!!  Well I am still chugging along on estrace, lining check tomorrow and hopefully they will let me start PIO on Thursday.  I am getting excited, I am not sure why but I just have that gut instinct that THIS one is the ONE!  :)

QOTD:  My Dogs, the Harry Potter series (i suppose i would need a book I could read over and over), ipod, and some food, or food seeds!  If I had all of that and DH I would be happy to be left there forever!!

Super excited for you, this has to be the one!

. You HAVE to be right!! I really need something that picks me up from the darkness I feel like I am living in and feeling more and more comfy in..

  • Hey fellow shamrocks!

I started my new job yesterday so didn't get a chance to log on. My baseline/Lupron eval appointment is tomorrow and it seems like as long as I get an early monitoring appointment I should be able to get into work on time, which would be ideal. As we get closer, I plan to put in leave slips for the ER and the ET for days three and five and cancel whichever I don't need and use vague "minor medical procedure." My meds are scheduled to be delivered to my parents' house, today, so my Dad can sign for them and I should start the Lupron on Friday. Woohoo! Can't wait to start injecting myself again- NOT!

@neeseeandben I'm sorry you are going through that! I hope it turns out okay and you don't have to cancel.

QOTD: I'd want sunscreen, alcohol, and my favorite books!

  • I'm so ready to be done w/ this Lupron crap. Seriously. I have a headache pretty much constantly (going on weeks now), sometimes it's just a dull ache but other times it developes into a migraine. My dose was reduced down to 5 units (from 10) on Sunday and added 1mg estradiol 2x a day. Still have the headache and feeling so tired I can barely function. Can we get this show on the road already? My fresh cycle was nowhere near this bad. QOTD: My dogs.

  • Hi Shamrocks. Sorry I'm late to check in- I've had gastroenteritis which has been a ball of fun ;) All my drugs are starting to arrive and it's seriously making our savings account groan. Hopefully AF arrives early next week and I can start stimming. I was supposed to start one of the drugs a few days ago but they made a mistake and didn't include it in my written plan. In between vomiting bouts yesterday I managed to get my local pharmacy to order it in and I'm hoping it arrives this afternoon. I will be a few days late but they said it shouldn't matter as it needs to be started between 5 and 10 days before stims.

QOTD: I'm practical like @kz's_girlygirl and would want a survival kit. A lot of people are choosing books but the only one I would want is "How to build a life raft in 3 easy steps" ;)
