March 2014 Moms

Thank You Bumpies & DH

Thanks to you ladies and many previous posts, I had the heads up to tell DH that we would NOT be sharing dilation news with anyone. He was baffled and didn't believe me that anyone would ask. I said, your mom will ask. I guarantee it. And he thought I was insane. Well lo and behold, what does she ask him last night? Bam! I win that one. And thanks to the heads up from you ladies, he was prepared to say that's a little too personal and we won't be sharing that info. So thanks to him for following through, and thanks to you ladies for helping spare me a conversation I wouldn't have even known was coming.

Re: Thank You Bumpies & DH

  • LMAO! I had to do the same with DH and hadn't thought of it either. I told him I told my mom and he asked if he should tell his too so she wasn't "left out"...I said NO! Me telling my mom something is way different than you telling your mom something like that (at least IMO).

My dh also told me last night that I need to find a new way to react to contractions because it scares him everytime I gasp, he thinks there is something really wrong. I told him to STFU. :)

@laurenash23 how about trying some breathing techniques? Clenching up restricts the oxygen that the uterine muscle needs, so deep slow breaths will help you through them!

  • @Rad&Co - apparently she giggled in an embarrassed way and said, "oh, is it?"  But then she let it go.  Haha!  Um...yes, it is.  At what other time in my life would someone dare to ask me about my cervix?  It's not like we chit chat about my pap smear each year.  The thing that makes me extra glad about how this went down is that my MIL is such a gossip!  I know she wanted to know in part to tell everyone she could think of.  No thanks!
  • Hahaha, glad it worked out for you!  This is funny because I had this conversation with my DH some time ago, and yet while we were at dinner with my family this weekend he told the whole table I was dilated to 1 when I was asked how I was doing.  The dirty look he got from me was probably priceless.  In his defense, he was just excited.  But still!  Please don't tell my dad I'm dilated!
