************************To clarify, when LO gets a good stretch of sleep at some point in the night, how long is it on average? I know our babies vary in age, but I'm still curious.************************

  • We usually get a 4-5 hr one every night, but I'm hoping for a 6-7 hr stretch very soon!
  • Loading the player...
  • We get one 4 hour stretch usually in the very early morning. Around 2am to 6am...maybe even 7am. Until 2am, we are up every 2 to 3 hours.

  • Usually sleeps 10pm-3am. Then 5-7 or 8. Twice in the last week we have gotten 7 hours straight.

  • Pretty inconsistent. Trying to figure out a routine will sometimes do 8 to 1 am (of course on the days I think she'll wake up any minute and I don't need to wake her up and then myself fall asleep in the recliner). But most days she'll sleep 11 to 1 then 3 to 530. I can deal with that (but still praying for that long stretch). She's 7 weeks old.

  • We usually get a 4-6 hour stretch, 4-5 hours is more common.

DS2 was a terrible sleeper until he was 13 months old. I feel fortunate to have a better sleeper this time around.
  • We usually get 9p-3 or 4a, and miraculously both sleep and wake up around the same time!

  • Nothing longer than 3hrs yet. God bless coffee.

This! I would love a 4 hour stretch....

  • We usually get at least one 4-5 hour stretch and then a 3 hour stretch. But DD2 is 4 weeks old tomorrow so it's still completely random.

  • We get about a 6 hour stretch when we first put him down, but for the rest of the time it's every 3 to 4 hours.

  • LO has been amazing in the sleeping department. From the day we brought her home she would sleep 5 hour stretches at night so I had to set an alarm until she regained birth weight. Except her growth spurts where we get 3-4 hours on a night. We consistently get 5-7 hours. I feel for you gals who are up every 2-3 hours every night.
  • He averages at most 2 hours at night still (6wk old tomorrow).  Usually I get 2 hours from 11-1am, then he will be up every 1.5 hours after that, wake up at 5am and only sleep cat naps off and on until 8am when I get up.

  • 5 weeks and she's finally sleeping at least a five hour stretch (too bad it usually doesn't start until midnight).

My kid needs to hangout with some of your kids! He is 6 weeks old and only sleeps three hour stretches and I'm dying of sleep deprivation.

His schedule is very predicable an goes as follows:

    8pm - 11pm
    11pm - 2am
    2am - 5am
    5am - 8am

  • I get 4 hours if he's lying on me but never more than 2 in his rnp. I want to keep him in the rnp but I also want to sleep.

  • BB still has to eat every three hours.  Bigger feedings = massive spitup and screaming and aspiration.

Once in a while he can go 4, but trying to make him do that at night actually made it WORSE, because he absolutely had to have his next feed in three hours, and then we were off schedule and DH couldn't do the morning feed before work, and my morning nap was like 2 hours instead of 4 and then I was just too tired to deal with anything.
  • 2 hours most of the time here. Once in awhile 3 but never more than once in a night. That said he was an end of month baby (4w tomorrow) so I am holding out hopes that it is just age as he is still pretty little... Really hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel near 6w.

  • Just when she gives me a few nights of 4-5h stretches she goes back to 2-3 h and makes this momma exhausted! It's a seesaw, hoping for continuity soon!
  • We get a 5-6 hour stretch 11:30 - 4 or 5:30
  • Her schedule is all over the place, nothing is set and its normal. She can do 1-2 on her hyper days or go up to 5 hours on her lazy days.

  • We finally are getting more sleep since I cut milk/soy from my diet. Before that we never got more than 2-3. Now I have had two nights with 4/5! Then the rest of the night 2-3 stretches.
  • It was every 3 until magical week 7, now we get a 6-7 hour stretch... but unfortunately it starts at like 7pm.

  • Right now, we're averaging about 4 hours. She'll sleep from 9pm to 1am and then wake again at 5am. But she's been hard to put down at night the last few nights, so that's interrupted her sleep.

  • We usually get one 3 hour stretch to start off, then we are up every hour! At 5 am she is usually awake for a couple of hours, then sleeps for another 2. All this combined with no more than 20-30 min naps during the day makes for one tired momma!
  • We usually get 9p-3 or 4a, and miraculously both sleep and wake up around the same time!

    This

  • DS sleeps from about 8pm to anywhere from 1-3am, then again until 5-6am, then until 8-10am.  So 5-7 hours, 2-4 hours, and another 2-4 hours.

  • DS wakes at 9, 11, 1, 3, 5, 6, and 7. I am sleepy.

Mine too. We've done this for 10 weeks. I'm mobile- how old is your DS? I'm hoping not older than 10 wks, hope we get to sleep soon!'

  • She usually crashes around 11p-1am, then right back to sleep after eating until 5 or 6am, up to eat and then back to sleep until 9:30 or so.

  • Most nights we get a 4-5 hour stretch and then a 3 hour stretch.

  • Goes down between 830-900pm. Wakes up between 1-2am. Then a short stretch. Up around 4-5 am
  • We were getting some 3-4 hour spurts last week. Seems like last night we went backwards, up every 2. I know it's bound to happen but it is discouraging when you think things are starting to improve! Hope tonight is better, this mama needs some coffee this morning.
  • We are one month today and I'd say average is 2-3 hours. She hasn't slept longer than 4 in a row yet, but did that four nights in a row (from about 11 until 3am) so I'm hoping that means things are getting better. Then she'll sleep a few more hours and is usually up for good between 5 and 6 am. Occasionally she'll go back to sleep until 7:30 or 8 but usually not. The good news is that she usually goes straight back to sleep after her nighttime feeds, only occasionally does she take a long time to settle back down.
  • Somehow we were able to get into a decent night time routine. Bath time at 7:30, massage right after, followed by some Jack Johnson lullaby and feeding. She is down for the count at 9:00 (at the latest) & sleeps until 4:30, then back down till 7:30. So... 7-8 hours then another 2-3. Problem is, if I'm lucky, she will nap for MAYBE an hour during the day!
  • We get a 4.5-5 hour stretch starting around 8p-2am. Bedtime varies anywhere from 8pm-9:30pm depending on how the days feedings fall. After the 2am feeding, we will get another 3 hours or so. The second sleep session she doesn't sleep as well and grunts and squirms a lot so she usually ends up in the bed with me otherwise she will wake herself up.
  • Once I moved Sophia to her own room, the stretches of sleep are longer and I get a better quality sleep.
