Estrace

Anyone else have to do some priming with Estrace? I am unclear why I have to do that. Anyone know the answer? what type of side effects could I expect from that one?

I can't offer any feedback on the why it's being used for priming, but I was on it post-IUI and didn't really have any side effects besides the telltale blue discharge.

I used it before my FET and am still using it. Its estrogen support and I believe it helps thicken your lining. It makes me super hungry, I'm bloated and my boobs are huge, sore and veiny!

I am in an estrogen priming cycle now, didn't use estrace but used two other estrogen supplements, Estridol Varilate shots and Estrogen suppositories. My doctor said it makes the ovaries "listen" to the stimming meds and respond better.

I did estrogen priming for IVF #2 and was told it would "bathe the ovaries in estrogen" and that "they like that."

I took my Estrace orally, so no smurf vag as some call it ;) But it always does make my skin break out. And I get a tad (read: extremely) emotional.

    Good luck!

I'm doing estrogen priming as well- my Re said it helps prepare the ovaries so they respond to the stimulation drugs better. In past cycles I have had a low response despite normal levels, so the estrogen will hopefully remedy that. GL as you continue!

Thanks everyone for answering. It makes more sense now :)

I didn't truly understand before as my estrogen levels always seemed normal.

I've researched this and also discussed it w my dr. It helps line up all the antral follicles prior to the beginning of your cycle so there isn't a dominant follicle that leads when you start stim meds. In other words, it keeps them quiet and all the same size so they all respond at the same rate. This is how they achieve many dominant follicles for ivf.
