Prune belly at NT scan. update

I had my 13 week NT scan and the specialist isn't sure what to make of it. My baby's stomach was the size of its body and he told me that unfortunately, it's not a good outcome as kidneys don't work. He says it's most likely prune belly but I need to see one more specialist to confirm. It seems i won't be here much longer but hoping to stick around until they confirm it's true. I'll be going harmony test and genetic counseling. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

With heavy hearts we would like to share that baby T does have prune belly. We're seeing a genetic counselor on Monday and weighing our options. Thank you all for the warm stay and for your well wishes. When August rolls by, hold those babies tight. My arms might be empty but my heart is full. Thank you ladies.

It's Monday first thing in the morning. I see the other doctor in the practice. I'm shocked.

They thought DS had this, but he just had a huge belly. His stomach measured 6-8 weeks ahead of the rest of his body the whole time i was pg. After several tests before and after he was born, they determined he was just a chubby baby. Hes a year old and still has a huge belly compared to rest of his body.

I hope you get good news at your follow-up appt. T&P's will definitely be sent your way.

And thank you to everyone else for your well wishes. I will post an update if you guys don't mind. I'm just trying to process the news and it really hit me a lot harder today when I woke up and realized it wasn't just a terrible dream. I know it'll be a long, hard road before we have concrete diagnosis and any treatment, IF available. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I have worked with 2 children with prune belly syndrome in my job as a pediatric physical therapy and both were delightful. They did have some medical challenges but were nevertheless bright and happy children. I do hope that this is simply a false alarm, but I would encourage you to have faith that you will be able to handle this challenge and that your child (if indeed diagnosed) will add so much wonder, love, and diversity to this world.
