DH got me a gift card for a local spa. I'm trying to decide if I want to get a prenatal massage or save it for later this year. I'm 32 weeks. Would a prenatal massage be worth it at this point?
I went to one on Monday at 31 weeks and they didn't have a special bed, but I used a body pillow and laid on my sides so they could massage my back, shoulders, etc. I did have to lay on my back for about the last ten minutes- but it didn't bother me. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and am glad I got one when I did.
I wish I could report that I had a good one but I did not. They did not have a special table and the side laying was extremely uncomfortable. Then I had 90 minutes which was too long because halfway thru, I had to pee and didn't want to waste time getting up and going. Overall, it was one of the most uncomfortable massages I've ever had (and I have had plenty!). Hope your's is better!
I had one about 6 weeks ago and even though they had a special pillow for me to be able to lay on my back and stomach I still felt like I couldn't relax. I really enjoyed my upper back and neck being massaged but maybe because in FTM I was just a bit neurotic and nervous for no reason
I had one last weekend (32weeks) and it was AMAZING. I'm measuring 38 weeks. I asked the spa and they said you can get them up until the end. Honestly, I would get it now but I would make sure they have the right equipment and are certified.
I had one done at a place with a belly cut out in the table. It would have been worth the money to just lie on my stomach for an hour never mind the massage.
I get the ones in the mall that you sit in the chair for. They just do my upper back and for $15 bucks, its an awesome refresher. I also go to the chiro and he does my lower back/hips so I'm good to go.
I had one a couple weeks ago and it felt amazing at the time. I woke up the next day and felt like I had worked out like crazy and my back was very sore for like 48 hours. But the "good" kind of sore. It was done by someone who specializes in prenatal massages and she did say that I was incredibly tense and tight on my left side (probably due to a right ankle injury in the summer that had me putting most of my weight on my left side) I think I would give it another shot to see if it happens again.
I am getting one next week at 35 weeks and I cannot wait. They do have a special table so I can lay on my stomach. My back is all sorts of tense with major knots right now. It is going to feel amazing. I would do it if I were you!

I have been enjoying them so far. I lay on my side for 30-min upper body massage. Ahhh... :-) Alternatively, pedicures are nice. Especially as we can't reach our toes to trim the nails let alone paint them. And they massage the foot and lower leg. Double aaahhh...
I had one around 22 weeks... wasn't thrilled with it... but it was relaxing.. I am going to a women's center to get another one at 33 weeks with some specifically trained... hoping this one goes better since I am everything but relaxed at this point!
