I totally stopped off at Tim Hortons on the way home and picked up a variety 6 pack of donuts. I have eaten one and promise there will be none left by the time DH gets home. What he doesnt know wont hurt him?

BTW - I hate ironing and refuse to have an ironing board in my home. I love my steamer.
I was going to love this post until I got to the ironing part. I'd like to have a steamer, too, but I love me some ironing. Maybe that should have been my UO yesterday.

@empireceo I don't know about your car wash but mine doesn't leave the foam on long enough for any action to happen during. Plus, there's an attendant in the little room beside it and his door is usually open. He actually walked in front of my car yesterday and scared the crap out of me. The foam got rinsed off and just as the sprayers were finishing up, there wass this skinny, bearded dude standing right there. Creepy as hell.

OMG we could be the same person!

I take my dog to the groomer because he loves the attention and comes home tired. It's a "busy weekend and don't want to walk you" thing. And last Saturday night I really wanted a doughnut but couldn't decide which kind so my husband went to Tim Horton's and got a 6-pack ... of my favourites, not his.

Also, my steamer changed my life. We used to have an ironing board ... I don't know what happened to it after my steamer, or as I call it, "the gift of time", arrived.

Yesterday, I took my car to get washed because it was a salt-encrusted, nasty hunk of metal and temps were finally above freezing long enough to make it worthwhile.

The FFFC: Car washes give me anxiety. I always go to the same one because it's the only one I know how to "operate." I'm always scared of not knowing when to drive up, when to stop, what to do with the car (some just want to you park, others want it in neutral, turn off engine/don't turn off), and so on. I don't want to look like a car wash n00b and I don't want to get stuck or ruin the machine or something. After I successfully made it through the one at this particular gas station, I just kept going back to that one and it lets me pretend I'm a car wash pro.

Also, I am not clausterphobic but when the foam covers my entire car, which is still running, and I can't see anything, it freaks me the freak out.

FFFC: I find car washes incredibly erotic and have wanted to have sex while the car is all covered in foam and suds since I was like 16.

Wow, so much ironing board hate today! Seriously though, I have an ironing board and love freshly ironed clothes. I've ironed bed sheets when I've had overnight guests. In fact, my BFF calls me sleeping with the enemy. When she comes over, she moves my canned goods all around so the labels are facing different ways and moves all my hand towels so they're all hanging at different lengths. It drives me bananas!

If I had the time I would iron my bed sheets, but no chance in hell of that.

You ladies should look into dog daycare! it is a life saver, and once you find a place and they evaluate your dog you can usually drop them off whenever. some places even do half days. it's not like child daycare where you have to stick to a schedule. it would probably be cheaper than a trip to the groomer and you can do it more often if you need a break. it tires them out like nothing else. my siggy picture was the result of a daycare day.

While I've changed my diet and will do what ever it takes to keep baby healthy, I am NOT looking forward to my 4 hour gestational diabetes class. I just told my Mom about it and her response was, "4 hours??? Why is it so long for something you'll be dealing with for 3 months?" That makes me hate the class even more. They better feed us there!
What? Oh hell no. I better not get gd because I would be very unhappy going to some class that probably would just tell me stuff I already know or can read about on the Internet.
I wasn't told to take any class. I just got back from the endocrinologist and it really seems like it's going to be easy to deal with for the next 2+ months or so.

I would absolutely refuse to sit through a 4 hour class. My body wouldn't be able to handle it.
  • I guess my FFFC is more of a UO - I don't think tanning beds are dangerous in general if used infrequently - I used to go about twice a month in the "winter" (I live in FL, so I'm saying I went about 4 times a year). Going to the bed all the time? Yes, I think that is dangerous and unhealthy. A handful of vanity visits in the winter whilst using SPF? Eh, not a big deal to me. I haven't been at all during my pregnancy and I just hate looking so wan.

I'm with you in the FFFC part. I tan on a regular basis when not pregnant. But not the UO part. I would never try to tell someone they aren't dangerous. I have a skin condition that is kept in check by tanning. I tan in the lowest level bed for about half the normal time (10-12 minutes in a 20 minute bed) once or twice a week. Enough to keep my skin looking healthy and not be embarrassed by it, but not enough to look like someone who tans.

As much as I hate winter, I'm kind of dreading warm weather and having to wear clothing that doesn't cover everything after over 6 months of not tanning. I will probably start up my tanning membership again immediately after this baby is born.

For me it's a risk/reward thing, and I made my choice. I also go to the dermatologist once a year, and completely strip down and have her check for unusual spots.

We have 2 dog daycare places that we visit. Although I know she loves to go play with the other pooches, she needed a good bath & teeth brushing. Otherwise she might have had a playdate today instead. I agree with it being a lifesaver!

We do doggy daycare for things when the dog needs to be out of the house for the whole day (he's already booked for my baby shower day). He loves that too, but my dog is such an attention whore, I think he actually prefers the 2+ hours of undivided attention of being bathed, brushed and trimmed.

He's more of a people dog than an other dog, dog.

But lately, with such crappy weather outside he is not getting his regular walks. I've been considering just dropping him off on the way to work some days, just to burn off some of his extra energy (and then give me a break when I get home from work, because he'd be dead tired).

  • My FFFC: My dog is so spoiled, it's embarrassing. She HATES going to the groomer, and whenever she comes back she pouts for days. She refuses to eat or drink, but if we bring her water bowl to her whenever she's laying in her dog bed, she'll drink out of it. And if I bring her a handful of food to wherever she's sitting, she'll eat it. So we do this for about 2 days after she gets a haircut, because one time she got actually got dehydrated after being groomed because she wouldn't drink, and it resulted in a $200 visit to the vet.

A few weeks ago DH told me he woke up in the middle of the night and it was cold. But Josie was laying on the extra blanket that was folded up at the foot of the bed, and he didn't want to disturb her, so he got up in the middle of the night to get another blanket from the couch.

We know how ridiculous it is, but we continue to treat her like some kind of princess. And now I feel like I only have 3 more months to spoil her, so why quit early?

  • Since we're talking so much about ironing...another confession is that I really don't know how to iron. I mean, I've done it before, but I'm terrible at it and it takes me 4 times as long as it should. I usually avoid it altogether. DH irons everything he wears basically, even polos and jeans (which is funny, because he's otherwise kind of a slob in a lot of ways). So, on the rare occasions I have something to iron, I make him do it for me.

All clothing that comes into our house must be wrinkle free, safe for washer and dryer. The only exception is DHs suit set- which is why I iron for weddings and funerals. We don't really even use hangers most of the time- clean clothes live in baskets. I know, I know- savages.

What's the general consensus on tanning while pregnant? I've heard risk of overheating but that seems weird to me as the beds don't get that hot (they did ten years ago, but not really now IMO). One of the tanning bed chicks used to tell me that high pressure beds and beds with shorter duration (the 8-12 minute beds) actually use less uv rays than other beds... She had some explanation (high pressure beds are less likely to burn you and tan into deeper layers of skin?) why which is lost on me now, but I've never actually seen any research on it.

Yeah, I don't think there's any research on it because it would be unethical to conduct research on pregnant women regarding something that could possibly be dangerous. It makes sense to me that the higher level beds might not affect the pregnancy, because they really don't get very hot, and you're not in there for very long. But I'm not going to risk it.

Melanin is only found in one layer of the skin. Just FYI.

  • My FFFC- my hemmies are back. But instead of hurting this time, they're itchy as FUUUUUUUUUU. I honestly don't know which I prefer. Anyway, I've been doing a pretty decent job IMO of not scratching. But at around 330 AM after icing, sitting in a warm bath, and putting cream on, I got desperate. I took 3 Tuck's pads (the witch hazel one) and rubbed it to scratch. It felt so amazing that I swear to God I orgasmed. As in, my eyes rolled to the back of my head and I was in complete and total ecstasy. I haven't felt that way in months. Despite having sex with DH. Awkward.
I have totally been there done that.  It is such sweet relief....for like 2 minutes.  Then they itch again.  But I TOTALLY get that feeling.
