I know that babies aren't supposed to have dairy until 1 year. Does that include any food that has dairy in it? Last night my inlaws fed him some twice-baked potato that was made with milk, buttermilk & sour cream.
Obviously it was only a bite so it's not going to hurt him, but I need to have a food rules talk with them anyway. They mean well but don't think about choking hazards (cheerios) or not introducing new foods more than once every 3 days. So I need to tell them to PLEASE not feed him anything unless DH or I has specifically given a green light.

Re: Dumb question re: table foods & baby
At our 6 months app. DS's pedi said give him anything and everything to try... whatever you're eating.... ? unless it has raw honey (not until 12 mos). DS has tried just about anything we've eaten (other than not so healthy fast food/chinese food/shrimp and such). Oh, he's never had cows milk yet, but he's had yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, ricotta, farmers cheese since 6 mos. old.
If there is no rush, I would not worry about it.... but do talk to them about respecting your wishes as to how you'd like to feed your baby.
My IL's love to follow their own rules which are not exactly the same ones as mine..... ? ??
