Just was thinking that there haven't been many posts from you ladies lately and maybe we should do a regular check in? What do you think? Anyone interested in this?
I try to check this board often, in case there are any type 1 questions. A check in would be great, maybe weekly or monthly?
P.S. I love how we're due the same day Don't know if you knew I'm type 1 though!
Awesome!! I didn't realize that you were, and another strange fact I just noticed, we have the same exact wedding date! How weird is that?
Ahhh that's crazy!! We'll have to see if we deliver the same day too lol. My OB wants to induce at 38 weeks, but MFM said 39 weeks might be possible.
That would be super crazy so far no one has mentioned inducing for me but I know it's very likely to happen just based off of things I have read. It would be so weird if our babies end up with the same birthdays.
Type 1 here. I was diagnosed when I was 17. I'm using MDI instead of the cool insulin pumps and other awesome technology out there because my insurance kind of sucks. But, it worked out well with my first pregnancy and I have a beautiful and healthy (and very busy) 2 1/2 year old.
Things are going pretty well so far with this pregnancy. Still enjoying the decreased insulin needs and not really looking forward to bumping up my insulin like crazy in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.
I'm almost 35 weeks, but I'd love to be a part of a check-in for the next 3 or 4 weeks! I was diagnosed 11 years ago, at the age of 18. I'm on the Animas One-touch ping. My last A1c was Wed. and it was 5.6...the highest it's been this whole pregnancy was 5.7. I'm ready to stop giving so much insulin every time I eat, though!

Hi type 1 for 20 yrs. on medtronic CGM. Have 2 LO's. youngest is 7mo. Working on lowering A1c so we can try for #3! It jumped to. 6.8 post delivery.
I used the Medtronic CGM for 2 years, but changed to Dexcom when I was 12 weeks pregnant. My a1C has been 5.5 and 5.6 since using the Dexcom system, and next week I'll find out my latest number. I absolutely love Dexcom, it is SO much more accurate than Medtronic. Dexcom is within 10 points of my glucose meter, but Medtronic would be off by 100 points (literally!). Just something for you to think about if you're wanting to lower glucose levels.
Type 1 for 28 yrs, diagnosed at age 5. TCC our 1st. Didn't know if anyone felt symptoms earlier due to diabetes?
@alewife23 - I'm also TTC #1. I've heard that some people can tell because their BGs will be out of whack, but not sure if that's the norm? Good luck to you!

That's how I knew, I became super insulin resistant for a few days before my BFP, I knew it was coming before I could confirm it with an hpt.
Hi ladies! I'm Type 1 for almost 13 years, diagnosed at 14. I found out I was pregnant last week. I would love a regular Type 1 check-in!
I'm an Animas pumper and also use a Dexcom. My first appointment is next Monday with the high-risk perinatal group I saw for a preconception visit. I don't see my ob until mid-March.
@alewife23 I definitely noticed a chance in my blood sugars, the couple of days before my positive test and even more so for the 3 days after, my numbers were much higher than normal and did not want to come down without much more insulin than usual. This week things seem to have leveled back out.
Hi ladies! I hope you all are doing well! I saw a different OB yesterday b/c mine is out of town...and my regular OB told this one that I was the best controlled diabetic she's ever seen!! SCORE!!! That may me feel so good, because some days are really a struggle!!

Before I got a BFP, I'd wake up in the middle of the night to pee (2x+) and was extremely thirsty... just felt like my BG would be really high. I'd check it and it would be normal or even low.
Had one healthy little girl a year ago with an A1C in the low 5's. I used the Dexcom too before I lost the sensor (baby brain!!). I also use the Animas Ping. TTC #2 starting this month.
My daughter spent a couple of days in the NICU for hypoglycemia. That was very hard for me, but I think it worked out for the best as it got me out of bed and walking a lot after my c-section, which helped me heal.
@vmt617: Unofficially 10/21/14, per all the online estimates. My first u/s is at the end of next week and my HCG levels coordinate with a 4-5 week pregnancy. However, it's anybody's guess.
How did anyone get through all the insulin resistance??? I'm trying EVERYTHING humanly possible to keep those sugars below the 120 mark after meals, and I'm having no luck whatsoever. I've resorted to beating myself up about it, which doesn't do any good. I just hate giving all kinds of boluses and seeing my Dexcom just stay frozen at the 160 mark.
@starla487, hang in there! I went through a couple of weeks of insulin resistance too. It was always elevated after meals, no matter what I ate, but they didn't stay there too long. My endo. said as long as they are high for a long period of time, try not to stress about it. She said the stress was worse than a high for an hour or two.
I had to double my insulin around 25 weeks or so, I can' really remember, but I went from taking 12 units at a meal to anywhere between 22-28 units. Now, at almost 36 weeks, I think I'm starting to not need as much, as I have had several lows the past couple of days.
Good luck, and if you have any questions, please ask!!

Hey ladies! I just joined the bump! I'm 25, diagnosed at 5, and have been using the medtronic brand pumps since I was 11! I just updated to the new enlite cgm system a month ago. It's my first time using a CGM system.
It's so nice to read everyone's posts and see that I'm not alone! My husband and I have been thinking about TTC I have an appointment with my endo on Friday so I am excited to see if my A1C is in the target baby making range
I'm so glad I cam across this! I've been a T1 for 7 years and just found out I'm pregnant with my first! Right now I'm 5 and a half weeks. I didn't notice any huge difference with my blood sugars. I had a couple random highs, but nothing out of the ordinary. So far, my sugars have been pretty easy to control. I hope that's a good thing! I'm waiting to get a call from the high risk perinatologist to schedule my first appointment!
I'm TTC #1 but may definitely check in here from time to time even before I get my BFP. I was only diagnosed as a Type 1 *5 months* ago at the age of 27. What a shock! Doing well though, and I brought my A1C down from 10.3 to 6.4 (and still dropping).
Dr. says we are fine to start trying,so we are, but since this is so new still I definitely am happy that there are other Type 1's on here I can look to for knowledge and advice.

Welcome and Congrats on the huge A1C drop that's awesome!
So I am thinking we should do a monthly check in, that way everyone can make their way over to comment when they have time, I will start doing one on the first of each month. Sound good to everyone?

Sounds good to me, it's wonderful to see a great group of T1 mothers here!
Hi ladies this is my first time looking through this thread I'm usually on j14. I've had type one diabetes for maybe 2 years now so I'm really new and would love to speak with ladies just like myself.... Oh and btw my name is Ashley!!!

@heie0008 glad to see another MDI person out here. I'm new to this board (although I've been bumping on May '14 since my BFP) and it's nice to know I'm not the only one without a pump or CGM.
