  • Also tall (5'11) and hate  finding pants long enough when pregnant.  I bought several t-shirts from bru (thyme) and they all seem super long, which I am loving right now.  I am also dreaming about buying a pair of jeans from gap, maybe I will splurge ;)  I still have most of my clothes from DS and DD, so it is hard to justify more.

  • Gap does not carry maternity in my area yet and 'tall' options of maternity at Old Navy are no longer available in Canada as of about 4 months ago... WTF? If any Canadian tall ladies have any suggestions for long leggings or pants I am ALL ears. We went with Baby Jogger as well as the handle was one of the few I tried where I didn't have to bend over. Finding a tall dresser/change table has also been a bit of challenge....must save lower back!
  • I am a size 11wide and some of my go to shoes are getting snug. Flip flops will be my saving grace this summer!
  • Has anybody compared Baby Jogger to BOB for height?  I'm worried now since DH wants to use the B-agile system (he's like, fixated on the system portion instead of separate things), and saw earlier that the B-Ready one was short for someone.  He's only an inch shorter than me (5'9") so I guess we need to test them out to make sure what's okay (I thought we had but maybe we didn't).

We're planning to add feet to a dresser for height since it's only 31" tall to begin with...
  • 5'11
    135 (Pre-pregnancy)
Size 8 shoe (so clumsy like PP said)
    36 inch inseam

I really like the idea of bump pics in a separate thread. I only mobile bump so I don't see anyone's siggys. I'm barely showing because of torso room. Everyone at school says I look like I just ate a big meal. 18 weeks tomorrow.
  • @literachick I am also showing a lot and people are surprised since I am tall. I'm 5'11" and have a 35-36" inseam ... I'm all legs. My best friend and I are same height, but she is all torso so things fit her in length that are too short on me. I wear a 9 1/2 or 10 depending on the shoe. I got some hand-me-down maternity clothes and a pair of jean fit but were too short ... so I wear them w boots and you can't tell that they are flooding ;). Here's a cute dress I got in the hand-me-downs, not too short ... Although maybe it's supposed to be a below-the-knee dress on a normal person .... :)

  • It really is an "everybody is different" thing!  I've known short/normal people that barely showed, and tall people that had jumbo bellies from early on!   I have a combo of super long torso AND super wide hips, so I think my LO just has all kinds of room in there without having to stick out.   I'll post a bump shot of me at roughly the same time as @LiteraChick in a bit!   I had a tiny, tiny blump but at the time I thought it was something! ;-)

I'm hoping I pop in the next week (you hear that LO?? Feel free to spread out!!) because I'm going to see DH and I'd love to finally be in the looking pregnant stage instead of the looking like I've gained tons of weight in my stomach phase.

  • I was told that I wouldnt pop til around 20wks by one of the OBs when I was 8wks. I definitely popped a couple weeks ago. I agree that every gal is different. Look at HDBD - girls in the same week as you could be showing like whoa or barely at all.

Oh btw, did we choose a badge? :)

AAWWWWW I am so excited for you to show off your baby bump to your DH! I saw your HDBD pic earlier and loved it, you are definitely rocking a bump (not a blump)

There is something different about a baby belly vs. just having a spare tire. A roundness maybe? Plus you can tell by the rest of how a person is put together and whether or not it looks normal for them to be wearing "too tight clothing/muffin topping" How exciting for you!
Aww thanks!!  I am also excited to be potentially showing at the airport, because the main remaining bad symptom I have is that if I stand up for longer than 5 minutes I feel like I will barf/pass out, which got super awkward the last few times when I was flying and I randomly had to sit down in the line for security and on the jetway and while I was waiting in line for food :-/  Now if people see a pregnant lady, hopefully it will be a little more understandable ;-)

  • Ok so I had to add a shopping rec because I actually found mat. jeans long enough without alterations. I haven't measured the inseam yet but it's a double plus for me because I need 34-35 inch inseam and I have big calves so skinnies are hard to come by.

    I'm 6'0'' by the way.

When I shopped for mat jeans with DS 3 years ago, I HATED motherhood maternity. Their tall/longs were not long enough and they were frumpy. I took a chance and went this weekend and tried on bootcut straight and skinny (only at the recommendation of the associate dressing me after I told her my woes). I was shocked! the skinnies were by far my favs. I wore them yesterday and I never had to pull them down to make sure they were still long enough and they look modern and not frumpy at all. It's the Indigo brand they carry. I also got the other cuts because they all fit better than old navy (which I usually love but hate their jeans). BTW someone posted Old Navy having long enough shirts--I agree except for the scoop neck tees with side rouching. I have had to constantly tug at my shirt all day today to make sure it was actually covering--and I barely have a recognizable bump to date so I fear for 2 months from now trying to wear it!. Anywho sorry for the novel and happy shoppinh

I think I have a pair of those! Love them! They're really cute too - I wish I had a pair in non-maternity.

In the tops that cover the butt department, I find that I have to wear tops that are meant to be short dresses on normal people ;-)  Some of my maternity tanks (i.e. from Gap) are long enough to stretch down over my bum, but they gradually ride back up.  I used to totally side eye girls who wore tops that didn't cover their butts while wearing leggings (leggings are not pants, yo!), but they are just so comfortable while pregnant that I've kind of stopped caring and have been letting my butt be on display for horrified onlookers ;-)
Ok so sorry I am just reading the whole thread and am finding all these "yup, totally agree".. So shopping this weekend I picked up a really cute tank with this amazing bohemian print and it was totally long enough. I was like oh cool I can wear this with my leggings and my ass won;t be hanging out and it's a nice strechy cottom blend so it will grow with me too, score. I got to the register and the associate says "Oh isn't this DRESS cute!?! I just sold it to another customer not too long ago" ....

  • I was just about to ask ab maxi dresses!! Great info ladies! If I find any I'll be sure to post! I hate a short maxi dress but it's hard to find inexpensive a maxi's that are long enough.

  • @lnicole82 you reminded me-- Old Navy maxi skirts suck lengthwise but the maxi dress I tried on fit pretty well. I tried on this one and thought it was really cute:

    Ok, I'm done I swear!

  • @bpargood - thanks for the info on motherhood. I'll have to go up there next time in CT.

  • DH is 6'2" and I'm 5'8" with long legs and I spent all night tossing & turning because of strollers! I woke up tired & stressed out. I have to drag DH to BRU today so we can hopefully make a decision.

I'm obsessive about strollers. I don't want to spend that much to not use it. Right now, we have a chicco umbrella stroller and I hate it. I always kick it. I refuse to buy another stroller that I won't use! It literally needs to be perfect and it stresses me out.

On that note, I apologize in advance if I become obnoxious about strollers.

    Love this!

(Also, by letting my butt show I mean wearing "tunic tops" that are still too short and keep riding up. And my underwear definitely don't show through the leggings! I agree that is totally unacceptable!)

The stroller situation has had me totally stressed out too! I was actually surprised when I went to test them out that there are a lot that aren't so bad. Just steer clear of umbrella strollers because while they are super convenient, you will both break your backs hunching down to push those!

We really like the City Select, and the City Select Mini GT, but there were other strollers that were cheaper with adjustable handlebars as well. So definitely check some out in person and it will help put your mind at ease! (Except for the prices! Haha). I saw a Gracco jogging stroller at Target that had a pretty high handlebar and was pretty cheap, but it also felt cheap (ie didn't feel very sturdy and not particularly easy to push).

@tallmomma29 don't worry, I'm sure you're fine. Tall people don't count as long as your tighty-whiteys aren't on display lol

    @monkeyJD
BTW for strollers, mine is just a jogger, not an infant convertible one like others but it is comfortable for me and DH height-wise and was fairly inexpensive by Baby Trend. It moves really well/smooth. I know baby trend makes other as well so might be worth looking into.

  • My DH is set on the peg-perego book plus stroller. It's expensive :( but it is very nice and seems very good for us tall folks :)
