Why is everything I like expensive?!

So, I finally found wall letters that I love...of course, they are $25 EACH! My daughter's name is only 4 letters, but I can't justify spending $100 for letters.

 Here are the letters:

This is the bedding that I plan on ordering:

Re: Why is everything I like expensive?!

  • I ordered my letters on https://www.craftcuts.com/wood-letters.html

and covered them with paper from the scrapbook store.  I just painted the edge and sprayed adhesive on the face and put it on the paper then cut it out with an exacto knife.

I am not a good painter, not even a little bit so thats why I used the paper.

  • Oh! That's a great idea to use scrapbook paper. I can definitely do that! I'm also not very crafty or good at painting. ?Thanks for the tip!

  • you can also try covering them in fabric....
  • Target has bedding pretty similar to that. It doesn't have the bird on it though, which I think is the cutest thing about the one you posted. However, the Target one is about 1/2 the price

  • Thanks for the Target bedding, but I love the MiGi bedding and I definitely plan on buying that. ?It was the $25 letters that I thought was expensive.

  • If you can't find fabric or scrapbook paper you like you can take a picture you like and trace it onto the letter using graphite paper, which you can get at any art supply store. It works just like carbon paper. If you hate what you do you can erase it (since it's graphite...just like a pencil) and start over and then paint when you've got it perfect.

My bedding fabric has a print (pics in my blog) and I am going to take it to  Kinkos and copy it/adjust the size to fit the scale of my letters and use the graphite paper to trace my prints onto the letter.

  • Have you thought about a custom name painting instead? This seller is wonderful to work with. I have already bought 3 pieces from her (the Nathaniel painting she shows is actually mine) and plan on buying lots more in the future.

  • Those are very cute, but still too expensive. I found blank letters for $10 for the entire name, so I am going to do that with the scrapbook paper idea.

    ?

    Thanks!?
